“Wake Me When It’s Over” and “In The End” available on Monday

The Cranberries recently revealed in a few interviews (watch Radio Regenbogen video for instance) that the songs “Wake Me When It’s Over” and “In The End” will be released very soon, and “Wake Me When It’s Over” will be the 2nd single.

“Wake Me When It’s Over” will be released next Monday (18 March), as revealed last week by the Limerick Leader, probably starting at midnight on streaming platforms and to download.

However, it seems that the song “In The End” will/could also be released on the same date, as both songs have just appeared today on iTunes/Apple Music and are almost ready to play… and even if not yet working, we can see both durations.

“In The End” pre-release songs on iTunes

Let’s note that just like “The Pressure”, the song “In The End” should be another pre-release track the band wants to share and not a 3rd or 4th single.

  3. So sad because when the album comes out its the end im not ready to let go miss you Dolly ❣❣❣

So true! It’s going to be bittersweet but I read that Noel will be working on anniversary reissues of the cranberries albums so that will be something to look forward to

Mike, I’d love an anniversary edition of “To the Faithful Departed”. Noel didn’t speak very fondly of the album in a recent interview though, so who knows if we’ll ever see that. I found that to be their most interesting period. I’d love to hear any outtakes and demos from that era. Not to mention, I’d love to know, once and for all, whatever happened to “Yesterday’s Gone”. Why didn’t it ever show up as a b-side? Was there even a studio version?

To the faithful departed is one of my favorite records. There are some of the songs I love most: The rebels, I’m still remembering, Joe, Cordell, Free to decide, Hollywood, Will you remember. And of course When you’re gone. 10 songs out of 15 were written exclusively by Dolores; I find it one of her most visceral records. It was judged to be too long and uneven. The usual sterile criticisms from those who do not invent songs, do not write or live them. As we all know, it was written in the most depressing and stressed period of Dolores, in which it was from that pain that she gave birth to beautiful pearls. To the faithful departed absolutely deserves a new celebration.

    Trying to forget
    Something that you know
    It hasn’t killed you yet
But you cannot let it go
    I’m trying to exist
    Trying not to scream
    How it does persist
    Entrapped inside a dream

    Fighting’s not the answer
    Fighting’s not the cure
    It’s eating you like cancer
    It’s killing you for sure

So wake me when it’s over
    Wake me when it’s over
    Wake me when it’s over

    Living in the past
    It’s difficult to hide
    Some things will never last
    When you’re swallowing your pride

    Fighting’s not the answer
    Fighting’s not the cure
    It’s eating you like cancer
    It’s killing you for sure

    Wake me when it’s over
    Wake me when it’s over
    Wake me when it’s over

    Don’t you praise them
    Don’t you praise them
    Don’t you praise them

So wake me when it’s over
    Wake me when it’s over
    Wake me when it’s over
    Wake me when it’s over
    Wake me when it’s over
    Wake me when it’s over
    Wake me when it’s over
    Wake me when it’s over

    • Richard

      “Don’t you praise them”

I hear “Watching the rain drop”

      Is it just me?

    • Axl

      No Richard, you are right.
These are just the very first lyrics that appeared on the internet (here), as often they’re done too quickly and most of the time include mistake(s).

    • Matelli

Sure. But hey come on, that’s what it was, just a first draft! By the way is it watching or watch. I’d say watch more than watching. Both works so it’s hard to know.

  7. Wheres the songs?

    • Ludo

Been released in the far east so it was probably out on May 19th. Wait for midnight in your country. It’s coming.

  8. Girl

    italianoThank you all.
Among the three songs heard so far, I think the most beautiful is The pressure.
The pressure is beautiful even without terms of comparison: it is a perfect song, the refrain and the strumentle part have fabulous sounds and the verses – especially the second – have a splendid melody.
I love The pressure and deserved to be the second official single.
However, Wake me when it’s over is equally beautiful, as well as very sad.

    @Andrea

    Thanks for the lyrics 🙂

    @Ex-cranfan

Thanks for the audio link and cover 🙂

Great song,at the beginning reminds me a little in it together

  10. Mat

Thanks for the links! Its a straight & clear “Dolores-song”. Nothing weak, nothing wrong in her voice…

  11. I am in LOVE with ALL OVER NOW & WAKE ME WHEN IT’S OVER however i’m not really into “THE PRESSURE” it’s not my kind of thing. I think it would have been a slight better if Dolly edited it i’m sure. I just can’t get into that song IDK why. Hopefully IN THE END would be better. I am however waiting for something like PROMISES, THIS IS THE DAY or even ZOMBIE, something hard to rock to. These mellow songs are a lil depressing and fact that she is gone, but I need something a lil uplifting a lil rock and a head banger like SALVATION. I can’t wai for the album just a few weeks away…………….. I’m sooooo sad it’s going to be ALL OVER NOW 🙁 after the album releases and yes there will be remasters but nothing new to look forward too… Miss you Dolly may you continue to R.I.P and know I’m still there since day one, over 25 years now 🙂 my ONE AND ONLY BAND…. FOREVER
