Big news today, the wait is over!
The Cranberries have announced on their website and socials the 30th anniversary of the album “No Need To Argue” …out of the blue and something like 8 months late, but hey come on, this is our Crans, we know ’em, 8 months late is not too bad!
To celebrate, an expanded 3LP edition will be released on 27 June, next week, via Island/UMe. Watch the unboxing on YouTube. Already available for pre-order, the edition includes:
- Freshly remastered audio by original producer Stephen Street
- 2 new remixes by CHVRCHES’ Iain Cook
- Never-released live recordings from Woodstock ’94
- Unearthed “Zombie” demo
- The complete MTV Unplugged performance
Additionally a 2 LP Deluxe Edition, 2 CD Deluxe Edition, Single CD, Single LP and Digital Deluxe will be released on 15 August 2025 and available for pre-order on 27 June.
There is also new merch available on the official website.
“WE MISS AND WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU DOLORES!” … Can you spot?
Simply brilliant and a really classy thing to do. Thank you for this!
After that sofa teaser I thought they’d announce a tour with a new singer. Hopefully it won’t ever happen.
I love the message to Dolores on the edge of the floor. Discreet and the words are perfect. Excellent.
About a tour with a new singer. No way please no. Never
The official store description says Ode to my family demo
probably a mistake, the back cover of the album says OTMF Iain Cook remix (you can clearly read it on the unboxing video).
Can’t they move on to a Bury the Hatchet release? We just got the 25th anniversay edition of this album a few yrs ago!
I seriously hope there is a mistake with the tracklists for the other formats, because as of now, it seems the full MTV Unplugged set is exclusive to the 3LP format.
The 2CD editions only adds 5 new tracks (the two Iain Cook remixes, the Zombie demo and the three Woodstock tracks).
Even more frustrating is the so-called “Super Digital Deluxe”, which really should have been a complete set with everything available from both 25th and 30th anniversary editions, but instead only adds the same 5 new tracks to the 25th anniversary edition, completely omits the MTV Unplugged set and even removes “Yesterday’s Gone” from the previous set!
I do hope this is a mistake. If it is in fact true, I understand physical copies may have already been printed but they should at least fix the digital set.
I’ve always felt the 25th anniversary edition wasn’t complete without the full MTV Unplugged set and for a moment I was thrilled it was finally coming. However, keeping it as a vinyl exclusive makes me wish they never bothered and just moved on to the 25th anniversary editions of Bury The Hatchet and WUASTC.

Good point and excellent analyse unfortunatly reading this, i am afraid there is no mistake 🙁 and Mtv unplugged is only on vinyl. I was hoping to see it on streaming platforms too but it seems very uncertain now. Maybe for the 40th or 50th anniversary
Are we really sure about this 2CD tracklist? The album alone is 50 mins. Side C of the 3LP set just includes 2 remixes… if you consider the Complete Sessions, which included 20 mins more, are those 2 remixes longer than 21 mins? Side D and Lp3 can fit in 1 cd? Are the live tracks so long?
pretty much yes, even if nothing’s sure with the cranberries until we get the cds and lps in our hands!
…and are the 3 songs from woodstock really from woodstock as most of the fans never before knew they were played that day.
answers in a few days.
That’s what I thought too. There’s a slight hope that this is a mistake and that the first CD is the album + those 5 tracks (or less), with the whole Unplugged set on CD2.
Whatever the anser will be, they should at least fix the digital release.
Fingers crossed!
I’m looking at the backstageaxxess.com tracklist and it doesn’t make sense, from a cd point of view.
CD1 ending with Dreaming My Dreams and CD2 starting with Yeat’s Grave ? Really ?
1CD edition sticker: 2025 Remaster of original album
2CD edition sticker: 30th anniversary edition ! Includes newly remastred audio of the original classic album, new remixes, unreleased demo and live tracks.
Clearly, no mention of Unplugged (even if it’s actually “live tracks”).
The Unplugged clocks at 42 mins.. they have more or less 25 – 28 mins: 3 live tracks and a demo could fit Crossed fingers !
I’m confused about the 2CD format like the rest of you.
My hope is that the album isn’t chopped up and that it, along with the six (6) bonus tracks, are all on disc 1.
And MAYBE MTV Unplugged is on disc 2.
We’ll all find out together shortly!
Regarding the Woodstock ’94 tracks, I imagine they chose these three to keep the focus primarily on NNTA songs, since, as we know, the set was divided between the first and second albums.
I am stoked!
I totally agree with that.
But I do not understand, did they really play ICBWY, RT and DL at Woodstock? Can’t seem to find any info online to back it up. Any of you guys know anything about this?
Just found this on YT. But there are no reissue tracks. I don’t know

and according to setlist websites:

No, we don’t know exactly.
We always considered the set being about 30min long and trusted what was always on fansites and other websites like setlistfm: 7 songs played… and absolutely no trace of these 3 songs.
We have many videos and the longest one is about 25 min and close to you is always missing on every video. However there is a cut after Linger. Is it simply where the pay-per-view stopped broadcasting live and switched to another band or commercials, or is it where close to you could have been edited out, or is it exactly where these 3 songs were played? We don’t really know. If someone knows please tell us!
For sure this week’s announcement and 3 unreleased songs totally out of the blue just increased our uncertainty! it would make a 40min set. How great…
A few fans think this is a mistake (which seems unlikely…) and just songs from another show.
Answer soon!
…and the release of Bury the Hatchet 25° Anniversary Edition? I’m waiting for this… thank you.
…and Complete Session of WUASTC… and 25° Anniversary Edition of WUASTC … and the Complete Session of Roses… I Hope for this releases in future…
I’m really speechless !

Ridiculous release instead of Ridiculous Thoughts. Who really did that ? Why dividing the album in 2 parts ? Like some Jane, who knows nothing about The Cranberries and NNTA, worked on this release ??? Did the band actually watch what they said yes to ?
Outrageous.
Sorry guys, but it’s a huge no for me.
I’ve received the 3lp edition in the post today. I think the Woodstock live tracks are from Woodstock. The way Dolores talks between the songs about the new album coming out in a few weeks adds up. I compared I Can’t Be With You to the other live versions on digital streaming and the Woodstock version is slower in tempo and doesn’t match any of the other live releases. The Zombie demo is a great edition. The guitar solo at the end is different, so it’s great hearing an early version of the song. Quality of the main photo on the front cover could be better. Looking at it closely, it’s not the best scan of it.
The new mixes are very different. I quite like them. I love what Iain has done with Ode. It’s so upbeat. Zombie is also very dance-y. Just with the orb mix had been included as it’s never been released on vinyl.
The main feature of this set (for me) is the MTV Unplugged performance. I’m really surprised and disappointed that this isn’t included on any of the other releases (and I really don’t understand the 2cd track listing and the way the original album is split), but it’s fantastic to have this gig in its entirety. I wouldn’t be surprised if this got a separate stand alone release down the line. Maybe that’s why it isn’t included on digital or other physical releases. It sounds great though. The 3lp set is really nicely put together and I love the linear notes and extra photos of the album cover shoot. Anyone who has bought this won’t be disappointed
Thank you Dan for the review. Very much appreciated. And great to hear good news about the Woodstock tracks. Awesome!
I echo Dan’s joy and enthusiasm!
My copy of the 3LP set arrived yesterday! For those who ordered it recently, hang in there!
Oh, what a treasure trove for us! I won’t include too many spoilers, but my god, GET THIS SET! There is highlight after highlight.
Iain Cook’s remixes are modern and fresh, and they belong here to show others’ love and appreciation for this music. They’re a stamp of The Cranberries’ continued legacy and timelessness. As always, you’ll be able to decide for yourselves. Speaking for myself, Smiling ear to sonically satisfied ear!
We’d get a peek at the Zombie demo here for those who remember the Doors and Windows (1995) CD-ROM mixed-media disc. Thirty years later, we get this demo in full! It’s gritty with its analog sound, oozing with edge, and has a more complex sound from our beloved Dolores. It’s a fun listen!
Speaking of fun—these Woodstock 1994 tracks! Wow! The absolute joy in Dolores’ voice; the energy of the band! They sure did have a great time on that stage. And it comes through!
Of course, the crown jewel—the stunning MTV Unplugged set, and like No Need to Argue, is celebrating thirty years!
What can I say about this performance?
Well, it is a masterclass of a band at the absolute height of their powers! Intimate, vulnerable, and passionate.
Dare I say, easily my favorite gig that The Cranberries ever did. I’ve been pining for its official release for well, thirty years! And here it is! Here it is!
The 3LP set boasts so much to see and hear. Jewels abound, making a perfect companion to the 2020 2CD Deluxe Edition for the most complete snapshot of the No Need to Argue era.
As far as the 30th Anniversary 2CD format?
I wish the powers that be did NOT split the original album like they did.
Wouldn’t it have been wonderful if this set looked something like this?

Thank you Ed for this great review, and just like for Dan, very much appreciated.
A great release for sure (where’s the 3CD version!) and the Unplugged as well as the Woodstock shows are definitely 2 of their peeks of their career. Every fan’s looking for both videos (full length) for years… if only these could be released on dvd/bluray one day, maybe for the 50th anniversary 🙂 . The rights for these 2 concerts in particular are extremely difficult to obtain and expensive… maybe one of the reasons why it is not on streaming platforms and available only on limited LP (?)
BTW Woodstock was on the 13th not the 12th (I know the mistake is on many sites!)
D’oh! Sorry about the date.
Just an observation regarding the upcoming 2CD 30th Anniversary.
The original album plus the six (6) new bonus tracks can fit on a single disc, with a total runtime of just under 76 minutes at 75:55.
MTV Unplugged should have been placed on Disc 2 so everyone could access it without the high price tag.
If the vinyl cover is taken from the CD like all the other reissues (pixelated and blurry), plus it’s glossy – keep this crap for yourself.
I find it hard to believe that Island and UMC are so lazy and greedy that they can’t contact Andy Earl and get the original negatives for this masterpiece! Shame!
