The Cranberries explain into more details why Dolores’ back issues do not allow her to perform

June 19, 2017  |  2 Comments  |  by Webmaster  |  The Cranberries

Since the band had to cancel the remaining European shows due to take place this summer, many fans have commented their social media, whether to support the band and send good vibes to Dolores or to express their disappointment.

Concerned by these comments, the band just posted a message a moment ago on their socials to explain into more deep why Dolores’ back problems do not allow her to perform on stage.

Indeed, it appears that the pain does impact her singing which increases the problem.
We strongly encourage everyone to read their below post, which is very clear and will be much appreciated by those who were seeking for an explanation.

Again, we’d like to underline that Dolores health is paramount, as the band already explained earlier, and wish her to get well soon with fond thoughts.

All The Cranberries European shows between May 20th and August 30th are cancelled (2 UPDATES)

June 16, 2017  |  Comments Off on All The Cranberries European shows between May 20th and August 30th are cancelled (2 UPDATES)  |  by Webmaster  |  The Cranberries

BREAKING NEWS: Following Wednesday announcement by French Promoter -GDP- that the May/June shows will in fact NOT be rescheduled, the Swiss promoter -Opus One- just emailed customers who had bought tickets for the show in Genève to let them know that “all dates due to take place between May 20th and August 30th are cancelled“. Here below a screen capture of their email in French:

Opus One then quotes the band as Ticketmaster.nl did earlier:

“We have really been thrilled to be back on the road and sharing our music with everyone and it’s with a heavy heart that we have had to pull these shows. Dolores is making good progress though we understandably do not want to jeopardise a full recovery. “

We can’t help but being saddened by the news, but as the band mentioned late May, Dolores health is paramount. Let’s note the band has not made any official statement yet regarding the situation.

UPDATE 7:00pm (UTC):
A fan sent an email through the official website a moment ago to be confirmed the announcement from Swiss concert promoter and was told pretty much the opposite as: “all shows are still going ahead apart from those that were cancelled a couple of weeks ago“.
Here’s a screen capture of his email below:

Whatever is going on, one can really question communication between management and promoters here…
Could the webmaster of the band’s official website possibly not be aware of these cancellations?
And could a local promoter make such an announcement up?
The situation is quite confusing…

We strongly advise fans to wait for official announcement from the band’s official website and socials. Also, if ever you receive an email from a promoter/ticket retailer we could have missed, please feel free to let us know so that we can keep everyone updated.

Second European promoter to confirm full cancelation of the acoustic European shows

June 16, 2017  |  Comments Off on Second European promoter to confirm full cancelation of the acoustic European shows  |  by Webmaster  |  The Cranberries

For those who have missed our post on Wednesday, French fans who had bought tickets for the shows in May and June that were to be postponed in the upcoming months received an email two days ago from French promoter -GDP- to inform them these shows “could not be rescheduled in the end

UK, Spanish, Italian, Swiss, and Dutch promoters had not given any news on their side yet, though Ticketmaster.nl just sent customers who were owning tickets for the show due to take place tonight at RAI the below email (screen captured):

None of our team members at Cranberries World can speak Dutch language though here’s an approximate translation made through Google:

We hereby inform you that the The Cranberries concert has been definitively canceled. As you may know, this even was already rescheduled once to a different venue before it got postponed indefinitely due to singer Dolores O’Riordan’s health issues.

Unfortunately, today, Dolores health does not allow her to be back on stage to perform (CW note: we’re not quite sure of the translation here). She needs time to recover from a back injury, and going back on tour prematurely could bring back the medical issues. Therefore, we can not guarantee to reschedule the concert in the short term and thus do not have any other choice but to cancel the show.

Below you can read the statement of the band:
“We have really been thrilled to be back on the road and sharing our music with everyone and it’s with a heavy heart that we have had to pull these shows. Dolores is making good progress though we understandably do not want to jeopardise a full recovery. “

We understand that you were looking forward to a nice performance, and we’re really annoyed to bring this news. We apologize for any inconvenience.

How can you get your money back?
You do not have to do anything. We will automatically refund the amount to the bill or credit card used to pay for the tickets. Within 14 days, the money will be credited by the credit card company. You can only expect a refund if you have purchased the tickets through Ticketmaster.

This new pieces of information are quite worrying and may imply that some more dates could be cancelled in the upcoming days. Indeed, the band is expected to play four electric shows in Italy next week to start their European summer festivals tour. It now looks very unlikely that these shows will take place.

We’ll keep you updated as soon as we know more on Dolores’ current state and if the situation is to impact -or not- the other European dates starting on July 29th in Norway up to August 13th in Orange, France.

Again, the CW team wishes Dolores a speedy recovery.

Bad news re European acoustic shows that were to be rescheduled

June 14, 2017  |  1 Comments  |  by Webmaster  |  The Cranberries

It seems that things do not look good for European fans who are awaiting for the 15 cancelled shows to be rescheduled.

Indeed, on May 24th, the band stated that they were working hard with local promoters to reschedule these shows.

This message was then quoted by the different promoters such as Opus One in Switzerland, who emailed customers to inform them that the rescheduled date would be announced “mid June”.

Later on, Spanish promoter – Doctor Music – posted on their Facebook page that both Spanish shows would take place and that the rescheduled dates would be known during the second week of June – which did not happen.

Today brings a much more worrying news as French promoter – GDP – emailed customers to explain that none of the French shows would be rescheduled in the end, as opposed to what they had stated on May 24th. Below the screen capture of the email in French:

Here’s our translation:

Dear customers,
Following our email dated Wednesday May 24th, we regret to inform you that, unfortunately, the concerts of The Cranberries that were due to take place in May and June could not be rescheduled. The below concerts are thus cancelled:

30 may: Tours – Le Vinci
31 may: Lyon – Amphithéâtre – Cité internationale
2 june: Nantes – Cité des Congrès
7 june: Marseille – Le Silo
9 june: Strasbourg – Palais des Congrès – Salle Erasme

Fans are invited to ask for a refund as per info below:

– Will-call tickets or e-tickets: Please send us your order number by e-mail and confirm that we can make the refund on the credit card used for the payment. If you changed your credit card, please send us your new credit card number and expiration date only (no security code needed for refunds). We will refund you within 2 to 3 business days.

– Tickets received by mail or DHL: please send us your tickets by mail at our address hereunder together with your bank account information. We will refund you by bank transfer within 2 to 3 weeks.

Please note the refunds will be closed after 09/09/2017
(no refunds after this date)

Thank you very much, kind regards

It would not be surprising if UK, Spanish, Italian, Swiss and Dutch promoters were to announce the same in the upcoming days.

We can’t help but hope this is not due to Dolores health but a schedule conflict, as this would imply that her medical issues have gotten worse.

Time will tell if the band will perform or not at the four Italian shows due to take place next week. As a reminder, Dolores doctors have advised her on May 22nd “to immediately cease work for the next 4 weeks” so one may imagine that Dolores is to meet her doctors again in the upcoming days to decide whether she can go back on tour or not.

Rescheduled European tour dates to be announced next week?

June 2, 2017  |  Comments Off on Rescheduled European tour dates to be announced next week?  |  by Webmaster  |  The Cranberries

As announced on May 24th, The Cranberries were forced to cancel 15 dates of their European semi acoustic tour with String Quartet due to take place in May & June as Dolores had “been instructed by her doctors to immediately cease work for the next 4 weeks for medical reasons associated with a back problem.

The band immediately explained that her health being paramount, they would work hard to try and reschedule these shows and advised fans to “hold on to [their] ticket until [they] can update further“.

While some promoters have already processed to refund the customers with no more delay, hope comes back today as the Spanish promoter – Doctor Music – just announced that the rescheduled dates would be known next week!
Let’s note Doctor Music is refunding everyone at the moment, stating that tickets bought for June 4th and 5th won’t remain valid, which means that fans will be invited to buy some brand new tickets for the rescheduled shows later on.

Here’s their statement below:

Earlier this week, fans who had bought their ticket for the concert in Genève, Switzerland had also received an email from the local ticket retailer to explain the new date would be announced “mid June”.

We’ll keep you updated as soon as we know more.
In the meantime, we wish Dolores a prompt recovery.

BREAKING: The Cranberries upcoming European acoustic shows postponed

May 24, 2017  |  1 Comments  |  by Webmaster  |  The Cranberries

Following the cancelation of the Bristol and Gateshead shows, the band just announced a minute ago on Facebook that all the upcoming concerts due to take place in May and up to June 16th would not go ahead:

BREAKING: Second UK show cancelled in Gateshead tonight

May 24, 2017  |  Comments Off on BREAKING: Second UK show cancelled in Gateshead tonight  |  by Webmaster  |  The Cranberries

Following the cancellation of Bristol’s concert at Colston Hall this Monday, the Sage just announced on their socials that tonight’s show in Gateshead (Newcastle) would be postponed too “due to illness” :

As a reminder, here’s the complete announcement from Colston Hall in which they explain that “Doctors have ordered lead vocalist Dolores O’Riordan to take ”immediate rest” leaving the band with no option but to postpone this show while she gets further medical opinion and advice on treatment options.

EDIT : The band just confirmed the cancellation on the below Facebook statement :

We strongly advise all the fans who are travelling to keep checking the band’s official page as well as venues websites for some more news.

Recap Amsterdam / Lille / Paris #3

May 15, 2017  |  2 Comments  |  by Webmaster  |  The Cranberries

Following Bruxelles concert, last week was affected by a cancellation in Amsterdam: the show that was due to take place at Koninklijk Theater had to be postponed in the afternoon after Dolores was diagnosed as ill with a heavy cold and related symptoms. The show will be rescheduled on June 16th at RAI theater.
Let’s note some fans got to meet Dolores on that day at the venue, as you can see on the below video in which she explains she’s got a virus:

It seems the cancellation was a wise decision as it turned out Dolores was able to come back on stage on Friday 12th in Lille. As often, the audience in Northern France did not disappoint and was, as expected, one of the loudest on the tour so far, enhancing the show and leading Dolores to speak a lot in French in between songs as she used to in the old days, letting the audience know “vous êtes le mieux” (you are the best) several times. She used the occasion to thank the crowd for their singalong and explain she had a “croaky voice” because she was sick, though she nonetheless managed to deliver an impressive performance, especially on the three new acoustic songs, with alternative lyrics on Why.

Same for the following crowded Paris show that took place on Saturday 13th, where the audience however got to hear a regular version of Why. One may note that the violinists were the same as on the first Paris play. Taking the situation into account, no surprise, the setlist remained unchanged for both these shows, though we may witness some changes once Dolores will be feeling better on the tour.
Like all shows so far on this “acoustic tour”, these two were sold out.

Here’s a cool pic of Dolores arriving at the Olympia in Paris in the afternoon (thanks to Danny and JeJe):

Below, our usual vids taken during the shows, please note that people in the stalls were not allowed to film AT ALL in Lille – and security guys took it very seriously – which explains why we don’t have any vid of The Cranberries on that date. However security was taking it easier during the D.A.R.K. Live PA performance so you can watch one of their songs below:

LILLE – D.A.R.K. Live PA – MONEY(?)

LILLE – THE CRANBERRIES – ZOMBIE (incomplete)

Our team is back to sum up these two gigs we attended!
Luxembourg saw the same 19 tracks setlist as in Paris #2, whereas Belgium was lucky enough to be added a 20th song: Loud And Clear!

In terms of sound, both concerts appeared to have a much better sound than the Olympia shows, with a brilliant rendition of the chords! One may note that only one violonist is touring with the band, the 3 other members of the quartet are local instrumentalists who Dolores thanks every night and asks the crowd to applaud, though those in Belgium were privileged to be introduced in details by Dolores who gave their names.

Now in terms of emotion, it seemed to us that the lack of enthousiasm coming from the (huge) audience in Luxembourg -that was very calm- did not trigger a very dynamic set, as opposed to the overwhelming concert in Bruxelles where Dolores got more talkative than on the beginning of this tour, letting the crowd know that she had a lovely walk in a park in the afternoon, and dancing Irish steps as she used to on Liar back in the good ol’days etc…

Last, Dolores sang the -beautiful- “alternavie lyrics” of Why in Luxembourg but rendered the regular album version in Bruxelles, that was unusually played a little fast on that night 😉

Fans may also be interested in knowing that, in Bruxelles, for the first time of the tour, some signed vinyls were sold at the merch and actually sold out by the end of the show.

As for the D.A.R.K. live PA set featuring Olé Koretsky and DJ Wool, the setlist has not been identified yet as some song titles are still unknown and the boys do not have any setlist on stage for fans to grab. Maybe Olé will let fans know soon… 😉
Here’s a preview of the setlist with the tracks we can recognize (in running order):

Animal (? unidentified D.A.R.K. song feat. Dolores vocals)
Watch Out
Miles Away
China Girl (David Bowie cover)
Money (?)
Heartbreaker (?)

And for those who are still hoping for a featuring of Dolores on the D.A.R.K. set, it has not happened yet… but who knows what will happen next?

UPDATE
Dolores was supported for the hearing by her mother Eileen, one of her brothers and Olé Koretsky. She was dressed all in black and wearing black sunglasses on her arrival at the courthouse.

O’Riordan’s solicitor Bill O’Donnell did not contest any of the evidence given to the court and said the marriage break-up put Dolores under huge emotional stress. She was going through a very difficult time having recently separated from her husband of 20 years. She moved to New York City and hadn’t seen her children for two months who live in Canada and was living out of a suitcase in New York City.

The court was told the incident began shortly before landing when O’Riordan’s behaviour became erratic and later as the plane came in to land in Shannon when she got out of her seat and tried to open the overhead luggage bins. The captain called in airport police to meet the plane.

O’Riordan twice tried to flee custody after being arrested at the airport, once from an ambulance and once while in a patrol car. Garda Shane Dawson revealed that the singer managed to free herself of one handcuff and forced open the door of a Garda car while he wrote up his notes on the airport apron. Airport police believed her behaviour was irrational but could not identify an explanation.

Mr O’Donnell said that there was no intention by Dolores to commit the actions on the day and she doesn’t remember what fully occurred. He said that she has no previous convictions, had travelled around the world with her career since she was 18 and never had an incident on a plane before November last year. O’Riordan was suffering hypomania, sleep deprivation and paranoia at the time of the incident.

Dolores admitted four offences including assault and obstructing a Garda. The lawyer said the singer is remorseful and regrets the incident and offered apologies to all those affected.

Judge Patrick Durcan ordered O’Riordan to write letters of apology to all those affected in the incident while he considers sentencing. He said : “It is important that the victims of crime know that the perpetrator apologises for the crime that was committed.”

Judge Patrick Durcan adjourned the case for mention to the January to fix a date for sentence.
The assault charges O’Riordan admitted can result in up to 6 months in jail or a maximum fine of €1850
The case will be mentioned in Ennis District Court on January 20.

O’Riordan left the court grounds in a blacked-out off-road vehicle without commenting.

In a new article entitled “Dolores makes a transfer to Manhattan” published on independent.ie, we learn that Dolores “is in the middle of putting down roots by buying a new home in the city that never sleeps” as she’s looking for an apartment in New York City, East Village.

I love New York […] I guess I was captive for so long. So I love it here. The people are so nice in New York. I have tons of fans here and they’re polite and discreet.
[…]
I spent Christmas here in New York with Andy, his wife and Ole. It was nice and quiet. New Year’s Eve is mad here but really cool. It’s so nice to be alive.

“Our Lady Of Sorrows”: New article by Barry Egan

November 19, 2014  |  11 Comments  |  by Webmaster  |  Dolores O'Riordan

From the numerous articles published recently in the Irish press, one stands out, that of Dolores’ long time friend, the Irish Independent journalist Barry Egan, who decided to relate “the turbulent – and very sad – story of Dolores O’ Riordan.”
Indeed, following the incident which took place a week ago aboard the EI110 flight from NYC to Shannon, tabloids had a tremendous time commenting on the “mighty fall from grace” of Dolores O’ Riordan, making fun of the “pious [now] caught in sin” and emphasizing that the singer was spending time in a “posh hotel” (sundayworld.com) after she left the police cell. How tough for fans and all those who love Dolores to read this.

sundayworld.com

Thankfully, M. Egan felt the need to set the context so as to urge readers to remain compassionate. As a matter of fact, in his article, he recalls his fellows of Dolores torment from the past, going back over the sexual abuse she suffered for four years as child and explaining how this episode led her to “anorexia, nervous breakdowns, and suicidal thoughts over the years”.

We would thus like to encourage everyone to pay attention to Barry’s heartbreaking article, and follow his advice: don’t judge Dolores O’ Riordan too hastily. “Our” lady of Sorrows needs love and support more than ever, and being in the media spotlight will definitely not help her to accept and follow the road of recovery.

Again, we continue to send our best wishes to Dolores, her family and her friends during this difficult time, hoping she’ll finally get the helps she needs to achieve some closure.

It seems that Dolores O’ Riordan will be joining Zucchero on stage in New York City at the Madison Square Garden on April 23rd. The Italian singer will indeed start his Americana Tour 2014 in March, though it seems only the New York City concert should include some featuring appearances under the name “Zu & Co.”

As usual, Dolores should be performing the song “Pure Love” which features on Zucchero’s album “Zu&Co.” released in 2004.
