Dolores and Noel on VH1 UK’s 100 greatest albums

Dolores O’Riordan and Noel Hogan appeared yesterday in VH1 UK’s multi- hour special “The 100 Greatest Albums of All Time.” Dolores was the first to appear on the show, commenting on Alanis Morissette’s 1995 album “Jagged Little Pill.” Dolores noted that she thought the chorus of “You Oughta Know” sounded similar to that of “Zombie,” and then said that the “imitation” was very flattering. She also noted that “Jagged Little Pill” was the center of a large amount of hype, and that Alanis never followed it up with the same amount of force.

Dolores and Noel later appeared in the same episode to give their comments on The Smiths’ “The Queen is Dead” LP (In case you’re lacking on your Cranberries History, The Smiths were an important musical influence on the band). Dolores asked Noel what his favorite song from the LP was, to which he responded, “There is a Light that Never Goes Out.” Dolores agreed, noting that the track was indeed “beautiful.”

Note, interestingly enough, this is a different “100 Greatest Albums” list than what is shown on VH1 in the US, as neither “Jagged Little Pill” nor “The Queen is Dead” made it to the US list. Thanks to Stewart for the news.
