Barry Egan reveals that Dolores O’ Riordan has moved to NYC

January 12, 2015  |  2 Comments  |  by Webmaster  |  Dolores O'Riordan

In a new article entitled “Dolores makes a transfer to Manhattan” published on independent.ie, we learn that Dolores “is in the middle of putting down roots by buying a new home in the city that never sleeps” as she’s looking for an apartment in New York City, East Village.

I love New York […] I guess I was captive for so long. So I love it here. The people are so nice in New York. I have tons of fans here and they’re polite and discreet.
[…]
I spent Christmas here in New York with Andy, his wife and Ole. It was nice and quiet. New Year’s Eve is mad here but really cool. It’s so nice to be alive.

New Barry Egan article: Dolores banishing the darkness

December 21, 2014  |  5 Comments  |  by Camille  |  D.A.R.K., Dolores O'Riordan

Barely a month after Barry Egan last article “Our Lady of Sorrows”, we’re waking up this morning with a fresh new article entitled “Dolores banishes the darkness and returns to the light” published online and in print in the newspaper “Sunday Independent”.

independent.ie

Barry Egan appears to be relieved to see his long-time friend Dolores O’ Riordan finally taking the road to recovery. Indeed, after admitting that he thought “Dolores wouldn’t make it out of the darkness she seemed so engulfed in last November when she was arrested on an Aer Lingus plane” especially as she had told him she was “not going to live that long. I’m 43. If I see 50, I’ll be happy. I mean that. People look at you and see a product. They don’t see a soul, but an empty hole” Barry Egan seems to be much more relaxed after meeting the singer last Tuesday.

From what he relates, Dolores seems to have taken comfort from her family and her new friends, co-band members Ole Koretsky & Andy Rourke (JetlagNYC) who have travelled from NYC to Dublin to spend the week with her.
She tells Barry:

I am just really grateful for the support I have received from my friends, […] I am well again now. I have had great help and support from people who love me. My mom has been great. My brother PJ – he’s my little angel. I had a lot of help from people. I don’t think I ever felt so cared for before. I always felt like this meal ticket.

“[…]no matter what happens I’ve got great friends who love me for me, not the fame bullshit. You really see who gives a shit. It’s cool but I’m still a bit crazy . ..good crazy though!

She admits nonetheless that she is not “100% better” than what she was following the Aer Lingus incident, but affirms she’s working on it, making huge efforts to heal herself, taking meds and trying to be “somewhat normal in a mad world“.

Spending Christmas far from her children who she “[misses] more than words can say right now” should be the next challenge for her.

Again, we can only hope that Dolores will find the love she needs and will manage to step forward on the road of recovery.

Possible short clip of “La Fine” a new song by O’Riordan/Alexandrakis (UPDATED 3x)

December 17, 2014  |  2 Comments  |  by Jury  |  Dolores O'Riordan

Composer, songwriter and producer Eric Alexandrakis who collaborated with Dolores few months ago has posted on Facebook a short clip of him playing guitar intro to some mysterious song.

Some of you may have read about this tune in the Irish press.

Some of you may have read about this tune in the Irish press” wrote Eric

Attentive CranFans may remember that Irish press indeed reported about “La Fine” a new song recorded by Dolores and Eric. So this short clip could be a little piece of guitar part of “La Fine” (or not)… we just have to wait and see.

UPDATE #1

One of Eric’s Facebook friends wrote this: “It is! I’m one of Eric’s friends and can attest that it’s La Fine. It’s an amazing track, edgy, dark, killer. Perry Bamonte from The Cure is playing lead guitar, Steve Ferrone of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers is playing drums, bass player Mark Egan on bass and Eric on everything else!

UPDATE #2

The forementioned message by Eric’s friend on Facebook was later deleted so we guess this information was a little bit too confidential.

UPDATE #3

CONFIRMED, this is “La Fine”
In the comments on Eric Alexandrakis’ Facebook people kept asking if the video was “La Fine” and Eric replied: “I guess the cat’s out of the bag… yes… this is the tune”

Dolores 3rd solo album: 6 tracks done with Marco Mendoza so far

December 5, 2014  |  Comments Off on Dolores 3rd solo album: 6 tracks done with Marco Mendoza so far  |  by Axl  |  Dolores O'Riordan

2 days ago the webzine 100% rock magazine published the complete interview Marco Mendoza gave in november and that first appeared in edited form in X-Press Magazine’s December 2 issue. X-Press Magazine is one of the most-circulated free street presses in Australia.

xpressmag.com.au

On the edited version the few words about Dolores were skipped (possibly because Marco was coming to Australia to play concerts with his band The Dead Daisies which has nothing to do with Dolores) but on the long & online version his words concerning Dolores O’ Riordan are revealed. Nothing really new that we didn’t know before but one thing: 6 tracks done in studio so far and more to come after his Australian concerts. Obviously this was before Dolores was arrested, now it will/should be after after!

Dolores O’Riordan from The Cranberries called me from New York, and so I flew up there. We were at the Electric Lady studios recording, we did six tracks.

I got home, and I’m going to continue that after I’m done with The Daisies, she’s trying to get an album together for a solo project. This’ll be my third album with her.

Your chance to live in a piece of Irish Rock History

December 1, 2014  |  Comments Off on Your chance to live in a piece of Irish Rock History  |  by Axl  |  The Cranberries

Almost 2 years ago the Legendary Windmill Lane Studios in Dublin had issued an appeal to musicians who have worked there to collect their master tapes or else they’ll be destroyed. Among them The Cranberries. Most of fans know this is the studio where the band recorded some of their best albums including the debut Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We?
Until today nobody knows if members of The Cranberries rescued their master tapes or not. Let’s hope yes as these recordings really are MASTERPIECE.

Today the article entitled “Your chance to live in a piece of Irish rock history for just €200k” published by herald.ie reports that the famous Dublin recording studio is to be sold at auction with a reserve at €170,000/200,000.

Wanna live where artists like The Cranberries, U2, The Police and Sting, The Waterboys, Mary Black and many more recorded some of their best songs, today is your chance. Anyone interested?

“Our Lady Of Sorrows”: New article by Barry Egan

November 19, 2014  |  11 Comments  |  by Webmaster  |  Dolores O'Riordan

From the numerous articles published recently in the Irish press, one stands out, that of Dolores’ long time friend, the Irish Independent journalist Barry Egan, who decided to relate “the turbulent – and very sad – story of Dolores O’ Riordan.”
Indeed, following the incident which took place a week ago aboard the EI110 flight from NYC to Shannon, tabloids had a tremendous time commenting on the “mighty fall from grace” of Dolores O’ Riordan, making fun of the “pious [now] caught in sin” and emphasizing that the singer was spending time in a “posh hotel” (sundayworld.com) after she left the police cell. How tough for fans and all those who love Dolores to read this.

sundayworld.com

Thankfully, M. Egan felt the need to set the context so as to urge readers to remain compassionate. As a matter of fact, in his article, he recalls his fellows of Dolores torment from the past, going back over the sexual abuse she suffered for four years as child and explaining how this episode led her to “anorexia, nervous breakdowns, and suicidal thoughts over the years”.

We would thus like to encourage everyone to pay attention to Barry’s heartbreaking article, and follow his advice: don’t judge Dolores O’ Riordan too hastily. “Our” lady of Sorrows needs love and support more than ever, and being in the media spotlight will definitely not help her to accept and follow the road of recovery.

Again, we continue to send our best wishes to Dolores, her family and her friends during this difficult time, hoping she’ll finally get the helps she needs to achieve some closure.

Eileen O’ Riordan Offers Update on Dolores’s Health

November 13, 2014  |  5 Comments  |  by Shannon  |  Dolores O'Riordan

Today, the Limerick Leader published an in-depth interview with Dolores’s mother, Eileen O’ Riordan, who shares a bit of detail concerning Dolores’s marriage separation and her state of health. The interview is available both in print and online.

Limerick Leader – Front page

“She is going through a marriage separation at the moment. That’s hard for anyone” said Eileen.

Dolores’s mother goes on to state that though Dolores is currently doing much better, Dolores did not recognize her mother at the garda station in Shannon, Ireland, where Dolores was arrested on Monday morning.

“Dolores was inside in a room, she was lying on the floor, curled up. She had her head covered and her face covered up. She was trying to protect herself. I gave her a hug. I tried to talk to her. She didn’t realise I was there at all. I put Lourdes water on her. She didn’t know who I was, she was trying to cover herself from me” said Eileen.

Mrs. O’ Riordan said that she was anticipating her daughter’s arrival on Monday and was in the process of preparing Dolores’s breakfast when she received a call from her son with the news of Dolores’s arrest.  She says that he had been fearing for Dolores’s health for some time, prayerful that Dolores would not be in New York, away from those who could best care for her, if or when something were to go wrong.

“I was waiting for it, hoping that it wouldn’t happen in New York. It would be awful because she wouldn’t have the support there. She is suffering from lack of sleep over the weeks and her brain is racing all the time. She is working very hard. When she was in New York she kept saying ‘when I go home to my mother in Ireland, I will be fine’. She was working in New York producing a new album.”

“She rang on Sunday to say she was coming. She was OK then but she wasn’t herself. She wasn’t Dolores. She would hide it from me. If I asked ‘are you sleeping?’ she would say: ‘Oh I am, I am.”

Mrs. O’ Riordan says that at this time, Dolores “is a lot better than what she was, thanks be to God”.

She confirms that Dolores remains in Ireland where she is cared for by a nurse and a psychiatric doctor who visits Dolores daily.  Dolores reportedly speaks with her children by phone and they are aware that their mother is not well at this time.  The children remain in Canada with their father.

When answering questions specifically concerning Monday’s on-board incident at Shannon International Airport, related to the alleged assault of a flight attendant and an arresting officer, Dolores’s mother states that when Dolores was taken to the hospital for a medical and psychiatric evaluation following the arrest, there were no drugs or alcohol in Dolores’s system.

“She had two glasses of wine with her dinner when she started off but she had no alcohol or drugs in her system. That is completely clear”, Eileen says.

It is suspected that Dolores had been hassled for autographs, photographs, and requests to sing during the flight and had been poked by a couple of passengers who were reportedly drunk, seated behind Dolores, for the duration of the flight and that Dolores “lost it”.

Mrs. O’ Riordan also says that the injured flight attendant is a long-time acquaintance of Dolores: “That girl is a friend of hers. She is a very nice girl. She knows [Dolores] for years.”

Dolores’s mother goes on to say that Dolores had been flying in the company of a “producer and songwriter” (presumably JETLAG partner Olé Koretsky, with whom Dolores had been photographed during her time in New York City over the last several weeks).

When asked how she remains strong to care for her daughter, Mrs. Eileen O’ Riordan credits her strong faith.

“I pray.  I don’t know what I would do only for my religion. There are so many good people – so many I have met are lovely and are thinking of her and praying for her and what more can we do at this stage.”

From all of us, we wish Dolores a full and speedy recovery.  We also express our deepest regret to learn of Dolores and Don’s marital separation and send all of our absolute best wishes to Dolores and her family during this difficult time of transition and healing.

Eoghan McDermott supports Dolores O’ Riordan

November 12, 2014  |  Comments Off on Eoghan McDermott supports Dolores O’ Riordan  |  by Jury  |  Dolores O'Riordan

Eoghan McDermott, an Irish television presenter who is hosting “The Voice of Ireland” has expressed his support for Dolores O’ Riordan in an interview entitled “Eoghan McDermott hopes DOR bounces back from air rage arrest – as she’s an awesome person” and published by Goss.ie yesterday.

I think she is amazing. This morning I heard a reporter on who said an eyewitness said she didn’t deliberately stamp on the foot that she was jumping like going a bit mad” he said.

It was collateral damage so that was some reporter that spoke to an eyewitness. Wait till it all falls out. And obviously she was taken into hospital so you just wish her well you know that she’s okay.”

At the same time it’s s**t for the air hostess to have her foot stamped on. I think Dolores is amazing and I will always stick up for her she’s an awesome person.

I remember she told us on the show that she moved into a pretty desolate part of Canada just because she liked solitude a bit” he said.

I don’t know if she gets angsty around people or confined spaces so obviously they felt she needed to go to hospital.

Eoghan McDermott also told Goss.ie the very first time he met the 43-year-old was an extremely bizarre encounter:
Literally the first time I met her she was chatting to Bressie and I walked in the room and she was like ‘Lads let’s go, let’s touch a tree
She made us go outside and touch a tree just because she wants to be connected with the earth.

Dolores “Getting Help She Needs” – Eileen O’ Riordan

November 12, 2014  |  2 Comments  |  by Shannon  |  Dolores O'Riordan

According to an article entitled “Cranberries star held after claims of fight” published by The Irish Sun, Dolores’s mother, Eileen O’ Riordan, has confirmed that Dolores is currently under a doctor’s care and is getting the help that she needs, following the news of Dolores’s arrest at Shannon International Airport in Shannon, Ireland on Monday morning.

The front-page story posted on thesun.ie goes on to confirm that Dolores remains in the custody of her mother who is optimistic about Dolores’s health.  Mrs. Eileen O’ Riordan is quoted as stating: “My girl will be OK”.

“The Irish Sun” also quotes Mrs. O’ Riordan as saying that she was “not surprised” that this incident occurred – suggesting that Dolores’s family  has had cause for concern over Dolores’s health and well-being over the course of recent weeks and months.

“The Irish Sun” also alludes that additional charges may be pending related to Monday’s incident, citing that Dolores may have allegedly further resisted arrest.

We will continue to provide updates and additional information as news becomes available; and we continue to express our best wishes for Dolores’s health and recovery during this troubling time for Dolores and her family.

Dolores O’ Riordan placed under arrest in Shannon, Ireland (UPDATED)

November 10, 2014  |  10 Comments  |  by Camille  |  Dolores O'Riordan

Quite an unexpected news this morning as we’re learning that Dolores has just been arrested by the garda following an “alleged air rage incident” on a flight from NYC to Shannon, Ireland.

The article entitled “Cranberries’ Dolores O’Riordan released into custody of mother after alleged air rage incident in which ‘garda was headbutted and air steward injured’” published by independent.ie describes the incident, explaining that Dolores refused to seat as the flight was landing and stamped on an attendant’s foot.
She then headbutted a garda before spitting in his face at the airport.

We shall probably wait for more information before we get to comment on this surprising event.
Let’s mainly hope our favorite singer is fine and not enduring tough times as it looked like she was lately…

Dolores O’ Riordan & Marco Mendoza in studio (UPDATED 2x)

November 8, 2014  |  3 Comments  |  by Camille  |  D.A.R.K., Dolores O'Riordan

Andy Rourke may not play bass on Dolores’ upcoming album as Marco Mendoza seems to be back in the game. You might remember that he had started working with Dolores back in October 2013 on new tracks, which he said would not necessarily end up on a third solo album.

This time we trust this project is beginning to materialize as Dolores has been working in NYC for more than a month now. Mendoza mentioned on Facebook on Nov.4 that he was flying back from Miami (where his band The Dead Daisies was opening for KISS ) to NYC so as to join Dolores in studio.

KISS CRUISE !!! what a great time ………… Just got back to MIAMI > on my way to N Y city to work with DOLORES O”RIORDAN ………… stay in touch and updated at : marcomendoza.com and thedeaddaisies.com …. Australia !! see ya soon.

Dolores jamming in studio today with… Marco Mendoza

A new photo of Dolores O’ Riordan in New York City appeared on Instagram today. This time it wasn’t posted by a random fan but a famous professional concert photographer named Katarina Benzova who’s notably working with Guns N’ Roses, the rock band who led her to get known (especially as she’s dating Richard Fortus one of the guitarists of the band).

It seems that this time Dolores stopped for a little jam in the studio with the rock band “The Dead Daisies” made of Marco Mendoza, Jon Stevens, Richard Fortus, Dizzy Reed and more. Right now they are in NYC rehearsing for their upcoming shows. According to Katarina’s instagram, the photo was taken at SIR Studios on 25th Street in New York City.

It is not too surprising to finally find a photo of Dolores taken by Katarina Benzova as she’s been on tour a lot with Marco Mendoza recently, with Thin Lizzy for instance, and as you might remember Marco used to collaborate with Dolores on her first solo album and tour. He is said to be a very good friend of the Burtons.

On Katarina’s photo, everyone will notice Dolores wearing that kind of medieval hat which was part of the costume she already wore in the streets of NYC a few days ago. Remember? How cool is that!

A prolific “The Hand” much to our delight

October 22, 2014  |  1 Comments  |  by Axl  |  Other News

If you know the work of The Hand you probably already know that he is a very prolific cartoonist. As you can judge on his Facebook and official website he sketched a lot of international and local (Italian) celebrities with his own unique style.
These last months he drew a lot of new portraits of our favorite Dolores. CW already wrote about that last august… but The Hand continued to draw of lot more after that.

published on September 6, 2014

One by one on our Facebook we shared his works but that is something we don’t really like to do as many people don’t have, don’t like or simply don’t want Facebook. For all those people, here’s a summary of his work:

published yesterday, Oct. 21

published on Oct.17

As you can see the man was bloody inspired by the pictures of Dolores these last couple of weeks, who would not be?

For the following drawing he even published a short video and colored versions:

published on Sept.27

“sketching Dolores O’Riordan – Sept.27”

published on Sept.27

published on Oct.14

published on Sept.23

He also drew 2 classic poses directly inspired by the videoclips Zombie & Promises.

published on Aug.17

If you like his work, some of his drawings are on sale by the artist directly. More details can be found on his website, don’t hesitate to contact him, he is a nice guy!

Dolores O’ Riordan emerges from shadow in NYC

October 17, 2014  |  Comments Off on Dolores O’ Riordan emerges from shadow in NYC  |  by Camille  |  D.A.R.K., Dolores O'Riordan

As you may have noticed these last days, Dolores O’ Riordan seems to be living quite an active life in New York City where she’s currently working with Andy Rourke from The Smiths.
The singer was spotted a couple of times partying in some bars and, thanks to social medias, photos capturing these moments ended up on the Internet, enabling us to get some news of our idol.

Today, news are no longer coming from ordinary people anymore but from Dolores herself!
Although she’s not too much into anything Internet-related, she made an exception and posted on Facebook the following message which also includes a great new photo:

http://jetlagnyc.blogspot.ca/?m=1

Click on the photo if me and u will see me again…I’m HERE…I’M REALLY HERE!!!
I love you all Soooo much and cannot wait to feel your lovin’ vibrations and your sweet salvations….
This is the most Supergroup I’ve ever met living people in peace and harmony…love us in dis place…
Erase human disgrace…hostility is bad and Human greed is sad…
People must accept each other for what we are…no changin’ no rearrangin’,no pushing no shovin, just sweet harmonies…
Beautiful people everywhere !!!!
Enjoy your life…lighten up….always laugh sometimes cry ….
Love DoloresO Riordan…October 2014…..

This heartwarming message comes as confirmation that Dolores seems to have met, with Rourke, a bunch of people who makes her feel particularly alive and at peace.
The Supergroup Dolores mentions (Jetlag) is that of Andy Rourke and Olé Koretsky, a record producer who has turned into a DJ on a radio called East Village Radio.
The duo claims their music is disco, post punk and adult contemporary. You can give it a try by visiting JetlagNYC’s Soundcloud.

The duo has officially added Dolores to their line-up by mentioning her as a band member on Twitter, saying Jetlag (@JetlagNYC) sounds like @AndyRourke64 + @doubleOle + @DolORiordan

Also to note, the photo posted yesterday (Oct.16) by JetlagNYC on their Facebook tends to show that they are in perfect harmony with Dolores and vice versa.

Olé, Andy, Dolores – Photo: JetlagNYC’s Facebook (Oct.16, 2014)

We can only be pleased to see that Dolores is feeling at ease with their way of life, as if she had found herself again which, once more, makes us believe that the upcoming album should be very interesting, possibly darker than “No Baggage” and as alternative and deep as “Are You Listening?”

A rock star in New York City, new episode…

October 17, 2014  |  2 Comments  |  by Camille  |  Dolores O'Riordan

Surprising photos of Dolores in New York keep on popping up on the Internet and this new one shows once again that she is having a good time out there. One may imagine that she has started partying for Halloween (?) According to Instagram user huydtruong, Dolores is perfectly fine:

Creepin’.
Found #DoloresORiordan, lead singer of @thecranberries lost in NY.
She wants her fans to know she’s alright and you don’t have to let it linger.

Let’s also note that another Instagram user (scully_le) has had her Cranberries vinyls signed by Dolores on September 13th thanks to one of her acquaintance who “is drumming on her new album”, which means that Dolores was thus recording in studio in Toronto a couple of weeks ago and that she is not working on this album with Graham Hopkins, her drummer in 2007. Seems like we shouldnt have to wait too much longer before we get to hear some new pieces.

A new 256p book featuring hundreds of photos taken by the Limerick Leader photographers was published this week.
Photos come from the archive of this Irish local newspaper and many of them are published for the first time. It appears that there is (are?) picture(s) of Dolores O’ Riordan among many other Irish famous faces like, for instance, Phil Lynott from Thin Lizzy.

The book costs €29.99 and seems unfortunately to be only available locally.

More on O’Riordan/Rourke collaboration

October 15, 2014  |  3 Comments  |  by Camille  |  Dolores O'Riordan

In the Spring of 2014, Dolores told journalist Nicky Byrne from RTÉ 2fm that she had already written some new stuff for her upcoming album and would collaborate with The Smith’s Andy Rourke.

The work is probably in progress as Instagram user itshowtimee posted a few days ago (Oct.10) a photo of the 2 rock stars together at “Cork ‘n Fork”, a tapas & wine bar/restaurant located in New York City. The guy is an employee from the bar and also added in the comments that Dolores and Andy had already visited the place twice last week and had planned to return.

Dolores, Andy and Instagram user itshowtimee – “Cork ‘n Fork” restaurant (Oct.10)

Let’s note that this collaboration with Andy Rourke seems more likely to feature on her third solo album than her project with Eric Alexandrakis which looks more like a “side project collaboration”, but who knows what the future holds?

UPDATE:

It seems the duo is having fun in New York City.
First Dolores made a “big entrance” at The Fourth as reported on pagesix.com:

pagesix.com

Secondly, a new photo posted a couple of hours ago on Twitter by musician BOSCO is now showing Dolores kissing Mr Rourke after drinking some “vino”. Looks like these two are getting along pretty well!

Now official: Dolores will not be a judge on VOI’s new series

October 3, 2014  |  Comments Off on Now official: Dolores will not be a judge on VOI’s new series  |  by Camille  |  Dolores O'Riordan, The Voice of Ireland

Rumors were true it’s now official. It has just been announced in an article entitled “Una Foden will take a red chair as new judge on the Voice of Ireland” published by Independent.ie that Dolores O’ Riordan will definitely not seat in the red chair this year as Una Foden, from the band The Saturdays, will be the third coach on new series of the TV show “The Voice of Ireland”. As we know, Dolores was not willing to return to the show as commuting from Canada to Ireland was very tiring.

The singer is also supposed to be releasing a third solo album at this end of this year/beginning of 2015 and should then be going on tour to promote her news songs which should not allow her enough time to dedicate to “The Voice of Ireland”.

Let’s note Jamelia should not return either due to expensive commute from London every week. Her replacement has not been announced yet.

Inauguration of the Polish Presidency 2011 – HD VIDEO

September 11, 2014  |  7 Comments  |  by Axl  |  Dolores O'Riordan

A year and a half ago, one of our readers, Piotr from Poland, sent us the HD 1080 video of Dolores performing for the “Inauguration of the Polish Presidency” on July 1, 2011 recorded on TVP HD. The video was uploaded in 4 parts and for some reason one of them was corrupted and we never succeeded to watch it.

This week we recontacted Piotr and he agreed to re-send/re-upload it. He also agreed to share it with the world and gave us permission to spread his direct link so here we go. It is the complete performance, it is about 410 MB and it really is worth it, take a look at the 2 screen caps below if you have any doubts.
Enjoy!

DIRECT LINK HERE

This special performance with the symphonic orchestra really is one of a kind and this is maybe the first time most of us will see it in HD. If like us you like this video maybe take a minute to thank Piotr by leaving a word (in the “leave a reply” below) or just a thank you and in Polish please… or not!

Well known in the world of The Cranberries, The Hand recently drew new portraits of The Cranberries and Dolores as reported here. He also just posted on Facebook a brand new drawing for Dolores’ birthday:

A small message from Dolores

August 26, 2014  |  3 Comments  |  by Camille  |  Dolores O'Riordan

As mentioned yesterday, Dolores is joining Eric Alexandrakis today to record a track called “La Fine”. Much to our delight, the songwriter producer just posted a message from Dolores on his Facebook:

A message from a friendly voice: “Great to be working with Eric, chillaxing in the forest. Always good times with the bears…because the bears don’t care…look at you now…don’t fade away. Love, Dolores”

Although it is great to learn she’s enjoying the collaboration and we’re quite happy that she delivered a message to Alexandrakis for the fans to read (she, who usually doesn’t give much news while in studios as she’s not too much into the internet tools), we can’t help but notice that she still sounds haunted by her old demons, alluding to people’s judgement, and the disappointment of being let down.

Let’s hope songwriting, as well as this break post The Voice will help her achieve some closure.

Vocals going down tomorrow for Dolores on “La Fine”

August 25, 2014  |  Comments Off on Vocals going down tomorrow for Dolores on “La Fine”  |  by Axl  |  Dolores O'Riordan

As often these last weeks, news about Dolores come from the composer/musician Eric Alexandrakis who informs us on his Facebook that Dolores should record some vocals tomorrow on an “Electrons” track he wrote called “La Fine”. “Electrons” probably is the name of the project or band (?) Good news.

@DolORiordan vox going down tomorrow on an Electrons track I wrote called “La Fine”. It’s going to be fantastico, e molto impressionante.

“Ice Bucket Challenge” continues, now The Sage Café feat. Mike

This time it is Mike Hogan’s turn to appear on an “Ice Bucket Challenge” video. It was posted yesterday on The Sage Café’s Facebook. Mike is one of the guys pouring the buckets of ice water on others (hey, he is the boss after all)… and seems to enjoy it.

Funny indeed, but this video is not the direct response to Noel challenging him. So we might have another video with Mike very soon (or not!) and this time he might not enjoy it as much as he just did. Stay tuned.

Noel Hogan accepts the “Ice Bucket Challenge”

August 23, 2014  |  1 Comments  |  by Axl  |  Other News

This summer if you’re living on the same planet as us, you probably noticed tons of videos of celebrities or friends pouring a bucket of ice water on their head. This is called the ‘Ice Bucket Challenge” and Noel just agreed to do it and posted the video on his Tumblr. Have a look his video is quite funny… especially the way his family reacts.

http://noelhogan2.tumblr.com/post/95492661202

The Ice Bucket Challenge spread over the internet these last months and kept growing and growing this summer. It all started from an athlete suffering from a degenerative disease combined with a good dose of self-deprecating media from the celebrities. Bill Gates even did it! The principle is based on having more and more videos all over medias/internet of people doing it to get funds for the ALS association. ALS is for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

Those who are nominated have 24 hours to do it and can challenge 3 people of their choice to do the same. If they don’t accept they have to donate $100 to the association. It appears that most of celebrities are doing both. On this day ALS raised more than 60 million dollars.

In turns out that Noel has nominated 3 people of his choice and an interesting name for us, Cranfans, surfaced: Mike Hogan

So who’s gonna challenge Dolores? Noel didn’t… Mike maybe!
Even if there is not much chances that Dolores will do it as she tends to avoid the Internet and everything that revolves around it, it may reach her one way or another. Mike may nominate Russell, Russell may nominate Don and Don… well, we’ll see!
Good cause and good fun.

“Limerick City of Culture 2014” continues…

August 19, 2014  |  1 Comments  |  by Axl  |  Dolores O'Riordan

Noel Hogan has been working hard for the city of Limerick this year with different musical projects like “The Pigtown Fling” album & concert as well as “The Music Bus”. Now it is Dolores’ turn to do something…again!

After playing live with the Irish Chamber Orchestra for the grand opening concert on New Year’s Eve, a new article entitled “Dolores O’Riordan adds to Limerick’s Limericks walking tour” published by Hot Press today informs us that she recently joined the list of celebrities who have written a “Limerick writing”.

Here is her poem/thought/word about her hometown:

In this here town my life begun,
I left this place when I was young
To seek my fortune, say my say,
I found myself so far away
I made my mark, life moved on, this is the town that made me strong

Anyone can participate, not only celebrities!
Apparently the contest, because it appears to be a contest, already received a huge volume of entries. Winners will be featured on the upcoming virtual walking tour of the city. So if you think you have something to say about Limerick and would like to join in, you can still send your words until August 25th. Dolores probably already won (or more probably she is out of competition) and will be featured.

3 new drawings of Dolores/T.C. by the one and only The Hand

August 13, 2014  |  3 Comments  |  by Axl  |  Dolores O'Riordan, The Cranberries

If you are a long time Cranberries fan you know The Hand FOR SURE. He is possibly the best cartoonist who has ever drawn The Cranberries. These last couple of days he published on Facebook 3 new drawings of Dolores and the band. Everyone may recognize different periods in time:

This first drawing clearly is inspired by Dolores’ last look on “The Voice of Ireland” TV show, a very 1993 look with hair partially shaved and rings on the ears. This one was published today, August 13th.

This second drawing seems to be a mix between past and present. Dolores still has the recent look of “The Voice of Ireland” while her pose reminds of us of an old picture of her. Published on August 9th.

This one belongs to the old times with the whole band and the legendary sofa. Published on August 4th.

Just for fun, let’s pay attention to this fourth drawing which does NOT represent any band members as it is just two “hipster” runners according to The Hand, but the look of these guys is very close to that of Noel Hogan these days, don’t you think so? Published on August 6th.

Brilliant!
The Hand is still a very talented five star artist.

More on O’Riordan collaboration with Eric Alexandrakis

August 12, 2014  |  Comments Off on More on O’Riordan collaboration with Eric Alexandrakis  |  by Camille  |  Dolores O'Riordan

As you might remember, Eric Alexandrakis recently stated that Dolores was involved in three music projects with him. Although it seems unlikely that these tracks will be included on Dolores’ third solo album, we’re learning a little more every week about these projects. Indeed, American record producer and musician Anthony J. Resta tweeted the following yesterday:

It is to be noted that ELECTRONS is one of Eric Alexandrakis’ projects along with Warren Cuccurullo, Steve Ferrone, Roger O’Donnell and Anthony J. Resta.
This could be one of the reasons why Dolores travelled several times to L.A. while recording “The Voice of Ireland” at the beggining of the year as this is were the Encore Studios are located.

Dolores definitely not coming back to “The Voice of Ireland”

August 7, 2014  |  3 Comments  |  by Axl  |  The Voice of Ireland

According to the article entitled “The Voice could have new a line-up of coaches with none yet signed up for new series” published by the Irish Mirror yesterday, Dolores O’ Riordan is definitely not coming back to the TV show “The Voice of Ireland”.

Well, even if we already had clues about it and even if it still hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, it seems quite clear that Dolores is not returning for another season next year unless producers would like to spring a surprise… with those kind of TV shows you never know!

2 rare and unreleased new pictures

August 4, 2014  |  2 Comments  |  by Axl  |  Dolores O'Riordan, The Cranberries

Fanberries just added 2 great rare pictures on Facebook, thanks to him for these 2 gems!
First one was taken in Cork Ireland at Sir Henry’s on June 1, 1991 and originally appeared online on Dailyedge.ie’s website inside an article about the legendary venue and some of its memorabilia. It is unclear whether this show is one of the last under the name The Cranberry Saw Us or one of the first (maybe the first) under the name The Cranberry’s.

Dolores and Fergal at Sir Henry’s – June 1, 1991

The second picture is quite recent in comparison. This is not really a picture as it is usually understood but one from the official guestbook of the concert’s venue (Auditorio Nacional) signed by Dolores on September 2, 2007 in Ciudad de México (Mexico City).

Official guestbook – Ciudad de México – Sept.2, 2007

We don’t see that kind of information too often as generally it is not supposed to be public. For example another guestbook we have here on CW comes from the very last show (to this day) of The Cranberries and is signed by all 4 band members.

O’Riordan’s collaborator brain-teases fans

August 3, 2014  |  1 Comments  |  by Luc  |  Dolores O'Riordan

Eric Alexandrakis, who is currently collaborating with Dolores O’ Riordan, left a “fill-in-the-blank” message yesterday on Facebook regarding their upcoming music projects:

Alright alright, you’ve twisted our arms. Dolores O’Riordan and I are working on three projects together. One is a ___u__a__ for an ___i_____ _i__, the other is a collab for the __e____, and the third is a _e___ for a multimedia project and traveling exhibit. I hope that clears things up;)

Anyone resolved the puzzle?
Thanks to Litsa for the info.

Sinéad O’Connor to take over Dolores on “The Voice”

July 22, 2014  |  Comments Off on Sinéad O’Connor to take over Dolores on “The Voice”  |  by Camille  |  The Voice of Ireland

As mentioned in most of the main Irish newspapers last week, a source close to Dolores announced that she should not take part to the RTÉ talent contest next year.

Although she was “credited with breathing a fresh lease of life into the show” and said several times that she enjoyed the experience, it seems the lengthy journey back and forth from Canada was a too hard to endure every week.

Let us remind you that the singer is also expected to release a third solo album this winter and probably tour in 2015.

Producers are now casting to find a new judge to replace Dolores, discussing with UK-based stars such as Una Healy or Pixie Lott, though a new name poped up yesterday in the Sunday World as Kathryn Thomas – host of The Voice of Ireland – told journalists that, according to her, “Sinéad O’Connor would be a great replacement for Dolores“.

sundayworld.com

As a consequence, The Independent announced this morning that O’Connor “should take over as coach on The Voice of Ireland if Dolores departs as expected“.
Quite a surprising statement as it’s hard to picture “the other Irish singer” doing such a TV show… but who knows!

independent.ie

Let’s still note that Sinéad O’Connor was rumored several times to seat in the red chair in the past years, which never turned out to happen.

As some of you may have noticed, last week the most important international and unofficial website from the late 90’s and 2000’s about The Cranberries went definitely offline.

As announced in May by its webmaster Alex Kraus, the website was supposed to go offline early june but for some reason had an extended time until mid-July. Even if the site officially closed in the fall of 2007 it stayed online until last week, enabling fans to keep on checking old pages. Let’s thus hope everyone had enough time to save those precious pages for personal archive or later use.

Anyway now it is gone, so… rest in peace ZG and thank you Alex for all those great years.
Now it’s part of History in The Cranberries world.

Dolores O’ Riordan to produce Kellie Lewis’ first EP

May 28, 2014  |  2 Comments  |  by Jury  |  Dolores O'Riordan, The Voice of Ireland

Dolores O’ Riordan to work with Eric Alexandrakis

Eric Alexandrakis  is currently working with Dolores O’ Riordan on some new music according to his Facebook new post:

It is still unknown what kind of collaboration will take place between Dolores and Eric. Iis he producing? Is he co-writing new songs? Time will tell…

Eric Alexandrakis is a Greek singer/songwriter/composer/producer living in Miami, FL. According to his bio, he is best known for incorporating “a brand new technology invented by his long time friend, inventor Scott Moskowitz; that technology was digital watermarking […] which is now used by every company in the world that uses any form of digital exchange, from record labels, to film studios, to banks and more“.

Eric also worked with Duran Duran’s John Taylor as well as William Shatner, John Malkovich, David Lynch and others. His official bio says that “he recently formed a composing collective, Electrons, which includes collaborations with the likes of Steve Ferrone (Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers), Anthony Resta (Collective Soul, Blondie, Scissor Sisters), Roger O’Donnell (The Cure) and Warren Cuccurullo (Missing Persons, Duran Duran), and various others“.

Eric had two Top-20 songs in the Adult Contemporary charts, “Stealing Christmas” and “Hear Comes the Snow!” both still available on digital platforms like iTunes.

“Zombieguide.com” to fully go offline in June

May 21, 2014  |  12 Comments  |  by Shannon  |  Other News

Next month, the popular fansite “Zombieguide” will no longer be. Website creator and owner, Alex Kraus, will allow the site, as well as all of its archived content, to go offline in June of this year. The website was a mecca of Cranberries news and information and was home to the most active forums for fans of The Cranberries in the history of the internet.

Most fans and visitors to the website will remember that in September of 2007, “Zombieguide” became inactive when its creator was threatened with legal action by Dolores O’ Riordan’s attorney. Though the website was no longer active after the autumn of 2007, as a result of legal issues, almost all the files remained online in an archived status.

In June of 2014, these archived files will no longer be accessible. Visitors are encouraged to take this opportunity to browse through the catalog of information stored on “Zombieguide.com” before it is removed from the World Wide Web.

You can visit it through the end of May.
You may also read through the forums, also available until the end of May, at http://www.zombieguide.com/forums/

On behalf of all of us at Cranberries World, we would like to thank Alex Kraus for his creation of and years of service to “Zombieguide”.

Dolores to work on Kellie Lewis’ EP

May 5, 2014  |  Comments Off on Dolores to work on Kellie Lewis’ EP  |  by Jury  |  Dolores O'Riordan, The Voice of Ireland

According to a new interview with Kellie Lewis entitled “Kellie and Dolores to work together” published yesterday by the Limerick Leader, Dolores wants to help her favorite “The Voice of Ireland” contestant with the recording of her debut EP.

Dolores now wants to work with me on my original music. That wouldn’t have been possible if I had won, so I am really happy
I feel free at the moment. I feel really lucky. The be-all and end-all was getting to work with Dolores so now getting to work with her even further, after the show has finished, is my dream come true.

Kellie Lewis of Team Dolores took second place in “The Voice of Ireland” final, losing out on the top spot to Brendan McCahey from Team Bressie.

Fellow Voice of Ireland coach, Jamelia, responds to Dolores’s take on Feminism

April 29, 2014  |  Comments Off on Fellow Voice of Ireland coach, Jamelia, responds to Dolores’s take on Feminism  |  by Shannon  |  The Voice of Ireland

Over the course of her participation in “The Voice of Ireland”, Dolores has been outspoken about her disapproval of the use of “erotic dancing” in some of the performances on the program. Dolores recently told journalist Barry Egan, in an interview for The Independent, that women “should not have to fall prey to the victimization of being some kind of sexual piece of stuff.  We are people and we should have equal rights.

Dolores also criticized fellow “The Voice of Ireland” coach, Jamelia, personally, stating that Jamelia was “intimidated by the beauty” of Team Dolores contestant, and second place finalist, Kellie Lewis.

Jamelia has now publically responded to Dolores’s comments, saying that she disagrees with Dolores’s opinion on feminism.

I think that any woman who chooses to be unashamedly who she is, is a feminist and that goes from a stripper to a nun”, Jamelia was quoted as responding, according to Herald.ie

She went on to explain: “Being a feminist means it’s OK to be my version of a woman and that’s who I am. But everyone’s entitled to their opinion and as you know, we all have very strong ones.

herald.ie

The differing viewpoints between coaches Jamelia and Dolores created banter that quickly became a hallmark for series three of “The Voice of Ireland”.

Seems that it’s time for Dolores to take a break from The Voice…

April 29, 2014  |  Comments Off on Seems that it’s time for Dolores to take a break from The Voice…  |  by Camille  |  Dolores O'Riordan

A new interview entitled “Dolores O’Riordan: I’ve no regrets about The Voice, but I NEED a break” was published today on Sundayworld.com showing that Dolores did overall enjoy her experience on the TV show but is quite happy that it is now reaching an end

She reveals that it was all about doing something different to have a good laugh – which got her closer to Kian Egan with whom she should stay in touch – but in no way to make money nor to promote herself to a new, younger, audience.

She told the Sundayworlds that Kian Egan “is just as bonkers as me and we have the craic. I don’t have the same relationship with Jamelia and Bressie. They would be more stiff than us […] I think I will stay in touch with him but probably not with the other two.

The journalist then explains that Dolores has actually been spending most of the money she received from the production company to commute back and forth between Dublin and her home in rural Ontario. A weekly schedule which she admits was exhausting, hence the fact she was in a hurry “to fly home after the final and not have to worry about saying goodbye to my family within a day or two“.

This article also comes as a confirmation that Dolores was not willing to perform at any time on the set of The Voice: “And, no, I will not be performing at the final. I just don’t want to. I’m not there to sing. I’m there to coach“.

She even confesses that she did not like the idea of having her contestants singing some her songs too much: “One of the girls at one point wanted to sing one of The Cranberries songs but it didn’t work so we dropped it. I don’t really care if they want to do it. But if they are doing to do it, they’ll do it right” she said, laughing.

The article also contains a few anecdotes which we advise you to read…

Dolores O’ Riordan to collaborate with The Smiths’ Andy Rourke

April 27, 2014  |  Comments Off on Dolores O’ Riordan to collaborate with The Smiths’ Andy Rourke  |  by Luc  |  Dolores O'Riordan, The Cranberries

In an interview on RTÉ 2fm on April 18th, Dolores O’ Riordan told Nicky Byrne that she is to collaborate with Andy Rourke (The Smiths, Morrissey).

I have written a bunch of new stuff“, told Dolores.

She also told Byrne that she’ll go to Los Angeles to meet some casting agents as she is interested to get some cameos or small roles there. For O’Riordan, her experience on The Voice was to see if she liked doing some TV. And she did.

Dolores also indicated there is no plan for a Cranberries reunion right now. “You know I just did a reunion tour a couple years ago, and then I did another album, Roses. It just started to be predictable again. It’s nice to move on, different shores, different expriences…

Dolores and ex-Westlife member Byrne also remembered about their duet in 2001 at the Vatican Christmas Concert with “Little Drummer Boy”.

You can listen to the interview on our interview section on CW.
Dolores interview starts around 1:36:00 (podcast no longer available)
