NOTES
- Headlining date added after the cancellation of the Duran Duran show in Albany (22 Oct. 1993) on account of their singer’s broken vocal chord.
- The Cranberries returned to Albany to perform to a sold-out audience.
- Anything (setlist info, photo, ticket, advert, review, etc…) is more than welcome as there is almost no information about this show.
- The venue closed in September 2006 and the building was destroyed in blaze in April 2009. Only the giant sign apart of the large grey building remained.
- Kevin S. who almost attended the show writes, “I had the good fortune of hearing probably the entire November 5, 1993 show @ Saratoga Winners in Cohoes, NY. Let me explain why I say hearing. Saratoga Winners was infamous for being an extremely loud venue. But they also had paper thin walls (see pictures). Myself and maybe a hundred other alternative metal fans were waiting on the line to enter the venue. We were expecting to be able to get in for the Pro-Pain concert that was there that night. But we were stuck outside because The Cranberries were booked in an earlier time slot at the same venue. It was a complete shock at the time as it was not common practice. I can say for a fact that over the next 10 years I never attended another show there where I had to wait for a separate concert to end before I could enter. Luckily, the spot I was waiting in outside was right near the door to enter the venue. So, whenever a staff member/bouncer would need to go inside or outside, the already easy to hear show would become crystal clear. I don’t think I was very familiar with their music at the time. This show completely won me over and I became a fan instantly. The irony of standing outside waiting for this metal type concert and loving what I’m hearing from them inside is just poetic. I went out the next day and got EEIDISWCW. And the rest is history. The pictures I took of the venue in May of 2007. They were taken after it was permanently closed, but before it was destroyed in a fire. The building literally no longer stands. The front door area of the venue that I described above is circled in red. This is where the sound would go from completely listenable to crystal clear when staff used those doors. The second picture gives a pretty good idea of why it was so easy to hear the show. The stage was right on the other side of the doors with all the stickers on them. The front door (with the windows) to enter the venue can be seen on the left side of the picture. So, I was roughly one hundred feet from the stage (just technically not inside the venue).”
