LYRICS
Suddenly something has happened to me
As I was having my cup of tea
Suddenly I was feeling depressed
I was utterly and totally stressed
Do you know you made me cry-y-y-y wo-o-o
Do you know you made me di-i-i-ie
And the things that gets to me (things that gets to me)
Is you’ll never really see (never really see)
And the things that freaks me out (things that freaks me out)
Is I’ll always be in doubt (always be in)
It is a lovely thing that we have
It is a lovely thing that we
It is a lovely thing, the animal
The animal instinct
Wu-u-u wu-u-u wu-u-u-u
So take my hands and come with me
We will change reality
So take my hand and we will pray
They won’t take you away
They will never make me cry-y-y-y, no-o-o
They will never make me di-i-i-ie
And the things that gets to me (things that gets to me)
Is you’ll never really see (never really see)
And the things that freaks me out (things that freaks me out)
Is I’ll always be in doubt (always be in)
The animal, the animal, the animal instinct to me
It’s the animal, the animal, the animal instinct to me
It’s the animal, it’s the animal, it’s the animal instinct to me
It’s the animal, it’s the animal, it’s the animal instinct to me
The animal, the animal, the animal instinct to me
It’s the animal, it’s the animal, it’s the animal instinct to me

MEANING
- In 1999, in a video about Animal Instinct, Dolores explained, “It’s like a hearty song, and it’s about a hearty thing. It’s just about love that comes when you’re carrying a child, when you give birth to a child and stuff when you become a parent. It’s the animal instinct, it’s a protection feeling that you’ve never felt before for anything […] I am a different person than I was two years ago. Women are extraordinary creatures really, you know, I mean the fact that we can give birth, what the bodies can do is pretty amazing, and feed, feed children with your own body […] It’s a pretty cool thing really, and it does change you, it makes you a lot more confident and happy in yourself makes you more thankful.”
