LYRICS
I woke up this morning and I walked down to the sea
I sat there on the long grass, just staring at the sea-ea-ea-ea (hu-o-a)
Counting all my blessings and everything you gave to me
Why is this complicated, why can’t you stay with me-e-e-e (he-u)
Stay with me-e-e
Won’t you stay-ay-ay
Stay with me-e-e
Won’t you stay with me-e-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a
Stay with me-e-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a
Stay with me-e-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a
Stay with me-e, stay with me-e, stay with me
I’d just like to hold on to all the magic memories
I dread this place without you, don’t leave I’m beggin’ plea-ea-ea-ease (hu-o-a)
Holding back the memories, holding back the years
Holding back the memories, holding back the tea-ea-ears
Stay with me-e-e
Won’t you stay-ay-ay
Stay with me-e-e
Won’t you stay with me-e-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a
Stay with me-e-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a
Stay with me-e-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a
Stay with me-e, stay with me-e, stay with me

MEANING
- In an interview given to Star-Telegram in 2007 Dolores said, “Stay With Me is kind of nice, because it’s darker chords but the chorus is unpredictable. I had a great time experimenting.”
- In another interview she explained, “Stay With Me is a song about cancer my father had. Fortunately, he was able to get better, but the song is about the fear I felt about losing him. Music is very good therapy to deal with death. It’s a part of your life. Everyone is going to die, everyone around you. And in the end you have to try to move forward.”
