Another Dolores O’Riordan mural by the artist Aches, this time sharing the bill with Sinéad O’Connor and Dolores Keane! “The Three Queens Of Ireland” as he says… painted last week at Hynes’ Bar in Dublin and in the same style as his awesome mural in Limerick 7 years ago.
Yesterday, Aches shared a 1-minute making of on Instagram.
This time, he used the iconic portrait of Dolores from a 2001 photo shoot by photographer Tim Roney.

The portrayal of Dolores in this mural is less striking than the one in Limerick, which is truly perfect. Just an opinion and that being said, it’s still an excellent piece, and the guy is definitely a great painter.

@Axl AI was my first thought, but after listen to it a few times, I guess it’s a real song (maybe recorded in 1995). It has those amazing “cracks” in her voice and nice backing vocals as well. Is it possible to you to ask about it to Fergal or Noel or Mike?
Well, I first shared the demo with our whole team, and the unanimous response was immediately “AI” without the slightest hesitation. Some said, “These aren’t the kind of lyrics Dolores would write” others said, “This isn’t Fergal’s playing style at all, nor even the boys style” and was more like computer style. (but ok computer could be used for that track back then as it is a demo… so maybe)
Others mentioned that it sounded more like Dolores’s voice around 2016, in an “In the End” style, but clearly not her 1997 voice. And then there was also this overall impression: it doesn’t really sound like a Cranberries-style song. On the other hand, Dolores’s voice is very very convincing, and if it is AI, it’s quite impressive because the imitation is extremely well done.
So, since it’s becoming increasingly difficult to know for sure whether something is AI-generated or not, and considering how fast AI is progressing it will soon become almost impossible (except asking the guys directly which we won’t do), I asked AI to analyze the track, and the result is pretty clear: 17% real, 83% AI.
