Something’s coming…
The Cranberries shared on their Instagram Story only (meaning available for 24 hours) a photo of the contract (edit: a dispatch note, sorry for the mistake) when “Alf Garnett Suite” was hired for a week in July 1995.
If you have no idea what “Alf Garnett Suite” is/means, it is in fact the official name of the sofa appearing on a few photo sessions with the band. The couch is mainly known on the album covers of EEIDI and NNTA… but not exclusively. It was hired quite a few times for The Cranberries (at least 3 or 4 times) and was also used by the band Supergrass in their video for “Alright” as well as a metal band who decided to burn it in a music video. Fuckers! So unfortunately this piece of The Cranberries History no longer exists… TRAGIC!!
Possibly appearing for the first time on the British television sitcom “Till Death Us Do Part” aired on BBC1 from 1965 to 1975 where Alfred Edward Garnett is the main character (now you know where the name comes from), maybe this sofa and armchairs suite was not unique and a few copies made in the good old days could still exist and be around somewhere; wouldn’t it be nice! (as another famous band said)

Tourism Ireland this week celebrated the 50th anniversary of “Meitheal” (Ireland’s tourism trade event). To commemorate the milestone they released a promotional video featuring Irish archival footage from advertising campaigns over the years… and one more time including “Dreams” by The Cranberries as soundtrack. Iconic!

Dolores’ 2nd solo album “No Baggage” will be released for the very first time on vinyl (transparent violet) for Record Store Day on 12 April 2025. The official RSD25 release list has dropped today and the LP was also confirmed/announced on Dolores’ socials (Facebook, Instagram) run by her family.

Emmett Gleeson shared today on the Facebook public group Limerick City Citizens, a photo of his late brother Liam where you can see in the background a very little Dolores, more or less the same as the “In The End” inside photo. In the comments you can read possibly 1978!
As announced by Kellie Lewis on Instagram, the music video for “102” will be out at midnight tonight. The tribute song to Dolores is already available as audio on streaming platforms for 3 months.

How about a 4K remaster release!
The 7″ vinyl was shipped early (it was supposed to be shipped today) and many fans already received it this week. First images appeared on discogs and a few fansites. Special thanks to them.
It never stops! Hot Topic added 3 more t-shirts and 1 hoodie to their Cranberries licensed collection this month. Urban Outfitters (Europe) just added 1 t-shirt, same for Urban Outfitters (USA) but a different shirt than the one in Europe, and the BPM (Basic Pleasure Mode) store based in UK has 1 t-shirt as well. A new book will be launched next week about the Limerick music scene. “A River Runs Through It” by Keith Kelly features photos of musicians holding their favorite albums alongside famous Limerick landmarks, including our dear Noel Hogan among many other local artists.
The book will go on sale on 1 December 2024 exclusively in Limerick in O’Mahonys Booksellers, Steamboat Music, Downbeat Records and People’s Museum. No information yet about the book being available for national and international readers!
