After being named Top R&B/Hip-Hop Producer in Billboard’s year-end 2000 issue, the magazine recently sat down with Timbaland to discuss his current projects and aspirations. The producer has a long list of titles, including production, remixing, and writing credits.

Timbaland, aka Tim Mosely, can be found gracing the liner notes of some of the largest R&B and Rap artists, such as Missy “Misdemeanor” Elliott, Ginuwine, Aaliyah, Jay-Z, and Magoo. But more recently, he has been eyeing the rock scene. He has recently worked with Beck, Limp Bizkit, and No Doubt, three widely diverse rock acts indeed.

“I want to work with rock artists,” he says. “No Doubt, Metallica, The Cranberries — her [Dolores O’Riordan] voice is so gorgeous. I would work with Björk too. I can do them all. It’s where I’m at right now, creatively.”

To make things more interesting, The Cranberries too have recently considered the possibility of a remix album. Drummer Fergal Lawler commented last November, “We have talked about doing a remix album at some stage in the future, it would be an interesting experience.”
