U.S. and Canadian dates presales: where and when (UPDATED)

April 30, 2017  |  8 Comments  |  by Camille  |  The Cranberries

Some of our readers are asking if there are presales for the upcoming North American Cranberries shows. The answer is yes and it seems there are lots of them! To be honest, this looks like a real mess as some shows feature 10 different presales between May 2nd and May 5th (like VIP packages, Spotify presales, cardmember preferred tickets, The Cranberries fan presale, mobile app presale and more…)

Also, one may note that in their recent interviews, Dolores and Noel have always spoken about 18 dates, which means that 4 more shows might remain to be announced. We may imagine that they’re planning to double some shows (such as NYC as Dolores mentioned several times they would be giving 2 shows there) when the 1st one will be sold out.

Here’s our attempt at listing the presales below:

11-Sep – Nashville, TN – Schermerhorn Symphony Center
Ticketmaster / First presale on May 3rd, general onsale on May 5th

13-Sep – Atlanta, GA – The Tabernacle
Live Nation / First presale on May 2nd, general onsale on May 5th / Floor: standing GA, balcony: reserved seating

16-Sep – New York, NY – Terminal 5
Axs / General onsale on May 5th

18-Sep – Washington, DC – The 9:30 Club
Ticketfly / First presale on May 2nd, general onsale on June 22nd

20-Sep – Philadelphia, PA – The Fillmore
Live Nation / First presale on May 2nd, general onsale on May 5th / General admission only

21-Sep – Boston, MA – House of Blues
Live Nation / First presale on May 2nd, general onsale on May 5th

23-Sep – Montreal, QC – Place des Arts
Place des Arts (English version) / First presale on May 2nd, general onsale on May 5th

24-Sep – Toronto, ON – Rebel
Ticketmaster / First presale on May 4th, general onsale on May 6th

26-Sep – Detroit, MI – The Fillmore Detroit
Live Nation / First presale on May 2nd, general onsale on May 5th

28-Sep – Chicago, IL – Riviera Theater
Ticketfly / First presale on May 2nd, general onsale on May 5th

29-Sep – Council Bluffs, IA – Stir Cove at Harrah’s Casino
Ticketmaster / First presale on May 2nd, general onsale on May 5th

1-Oct – Denver, CO – Paramount Theatre
Altitude Tickets / First presale on May 2nd, general onsale on May 5th

4-Oct – San Francisco, CA – Masonic Auditorium
Live Nation / First presale on May 2nd, general onsale on May 5th

6-Oct – Los Angeles, CA – The Wiltern
Live Nation / First presale on May 2nd, general onsale on May 5th / Standing pit, loung, mezzanine: reserved seating

Most of the venues appear to have an “artist presale” for fans. No clue yet who these presales will be made available to but we can imagine that a link/code will be sent to people who subscribed to the band’s official website newsletter by preordering Something Else? Or maybe the Live Nation subscribers?

Feel free to let us know if you find out more!

Thanks to all of them for sharing!

1-Oct – Denver, CO – Paramount Theatre – Denver
4-Oct – San Francisco, CA – Masonic Auditorium
6-Oct – Los Angeles, CA – The Wiltern

A few more dates might be announced soon as the band said in their recent interviews that the U.S./Canadian tour was counting 18 dates including 2 in New York.

Let’s also note that, still according to the recent interviews and to the fact this announcement does not mention any “acoustic” show, it all tends to show that this “something else tour”, unlike the European tour, will be performed with a string quartet, but not acoustically.
Also, Dolores and Noel previously mentioned that in those cities, they should not be touring with ICO members but some local strings musicians.

Last, the band also confirmed earlier today during the “Gerry Kelly” radio show on BBC Radio Ulster that a South American tour will follow in the fall including Brazil, Argentina, Chile etc… They’re also hoping to perform in Australia by the end of the year.
They added that they are planning on working on some new material during this leg of the tour so as to release a new album afterwards.

The Nicky Byrne Show with Jenny Greene – RTE 2FM – interview

April 27, 2017  |  Comments Off on The Nicky Byrne Show with Jenny Greene – RTE 2FM – interview  |  by Axl  |  The Cranberries

A few hours ago the 4 members of The Cranberries were on Irish Radio RTE 2fm on “The Nicky Byrne Show with Jenny Greene” show. The interview was prerecorded yesterday during their press day in Dublin and broadcast around noon today. Just before the broadcast, Nicky Byrne posted a photo with the whole band on his Twitter account.

Still before the broadcast RTE2FM also posted a multiview photo on their Twitter account.

The interview is about 15 minutes long and starts with questions about The Bachelorette, the music industry being different today, the early years when sending demo tapes and receiving record companies letters/answers, the day when and where Zombie was written.

Then one of the hosts asks about Linger.
Dolores: “it’s about first kiss and how the guy broke my heart”
“Does he know the song’s about him?” replies one of the host
Dolores: “I actually got a letter from him about 10 years later, he just said, you know I’m sorry”

About Irish shows coming up soon, are they nervous or is it exciting.
Noel: “A bit of both, you’re far more aware of it, a lot of family out there and at the same time you can’t wait to do it because we do this a lot all over the world and a lot of people aren’t aware of that so it’s nice to kind of come home, we don’t do it that often so it’s always special when we do it”

About more Irish dates.
Noel: “We never say never”
Dolores: “but after this tour it’s the U.S. in September and then they want us to go in South America

About the I.C.O. and the NYE gig and if they had already worked with an orchestra before.
Dolores: “Actually Linger, the original recording, there was a quartet used on that”

About the upcoming shows and the kind of songs they’re gonna be performing.
Noel: “Mainly the album that’s coming out, they’re kind of a semi acoustic with the quartet, a lot of the songs in this album I guess were singles over the years so we’ll be doing those. There’s some new songs written for this album … it may change a bit as we go along then add in and take out songs as the weeks go by but there’s enough to cover… the set is an hour and a half, an hour and twenty minutes.”

About another studio album.
Dolores: “Noel writes more on the road cos he has more time so he sends me bits and pieces so it’s good going on tour cos we get to write for a bit.”

About D.A.R.K.
Dolores: “…the material is very interesting, kind of electronic and it’s also very ambiant, very different to what i’ve done before. Olé is opening up for us on his own but then probably when we swing over to America Andy will probably come on stage and do a few gigs with him.

Special thanks to the fabulous Jackie Hogan for letting fans know about this broadcast just on time.
You Rock!

EDIT: Podcast now available on this link.

Some of you might remember that in the past Newbury already sold signed CD’s of The Cranberries and Dolores solo (Roses, No Baggage). Please note that CD booklet will be autographed by Dolores only and not the whole band in comparison to the no longer available signed copies from the band’s official store.

Thanks to Cranberryesque for this valuable information!!

BREAKING NEWS: upcoming U.S. shows won’t be acoustic

April 24, 2017  |  2 Comments  |  by Axl  |  The Cranberries

Today appeared on the internet 2 new interviews with Dolores. Both are quite long.
The Songfacts.com interview is very focused on “Tell me about this song and that one”
and the ArtistDirectInterviews.com interview is more classic with the usual questions about Bachelorette, Chamber Orchestra, 25th anniversary celebration, the 3 new songs, tours etc..

HOWEVER:

One question in the ArtistDirectInterviews concerns the next US tour still to be announced soon. It looks like the acoustic shows won’t happen over there. The Cranberries will play ONLY ELECTRIC SHOWS.

Here’s what Dolores answers:

D O’R: Well, those venues – I still like performing in those venues. I prefer having electric guitars in the small and crowded, packed venues. So we’re doing the quartet – we’re bringing some electric guitars so it’s blend of electric and acoustic. We were looking at coming over to the States in September – but that will be full live electric, because the venues seem to be more catering a full live electronic show… so those two thousand seaters – the venues are more appropriate than putting a string quartet into a rock venue.

Also to notice in her answer: the European acoustic shows will feature an electric part when she says “it’s blend of electric and acoustic” she is talking about the upcoming acoustic shows in Europe!
Tricky…

“Why?” UK promo CD includes instrumental track

April 23, 2017  |  11 Comments  |  by Axl  |  The Cranberries

“Why?” UK promo single surfaced on discogs. Price asked is $128 which is totally insane for something that will end up on eBay for just a couple of dollars.

The card sleeve promo CDR is made by BMG (reference PROMOBMG1342) and contains 3 tracks:

  1. Why? (Radio Mix)
  2. Why? (Album Version)
  3. Why? (Radio Mix Instrumental)

The instrumental track still being unreleased to this day!!
Also interesting to note: title of the song is “Why?” with a question mark which never appeared anywhere before. Is it a mistake or the real title, we should know soon…

Thanks to Cranberryesque for the info!

EDIT: According to credits on the back cover Noel and Fergal are not playing on these tracks. Dan Brodbeck is credited as lead guitarist and Corey Thompson as drummer.
Thanks to Francois for noticing. Maybe the most important information!!!

On the other hand, The Cranberries updated their store and you can now preorder “Something Else” on Double Heavyweight Vinyl for €23.99

BREAKING: “D.A.R.K. Live PA” opening for The Cranberries on their European acoustic tour

April 19, 2017  |  4 Comments  |  by Axl  |  D.A.R.K., Dolores O'Riordan, The Cranberries

After “Everybody Else…” reissued on vinyl, another unexpected news today coming this time from D.A.R.K. on their socials.

Olé Koretsky will be joined on stage by DJ Wool performing D.A.R.K. songs and other material, on tour supporting The Cranberries in Europe.

DJ Wool

D.A.R.K. will be supporting The Cranberries on live PA on their European acoustic tour from May 2nd in Berlin to June 10th in Milano. Please note that the summer electric shows in July/August are not concerned, nor the show in Wrocław, Poland on May 1st (which comes as a probable confirmation that Wrocław won’t be an acoustic show). Also, the 3rd Paris show added on May 13th is not on the list but will certainly be included. This seems to be a simple “copy and paste” of The Cranberries website which still doesn’t list the third Paris show (!!??).

For those of you wondering what Live PA means, wikipedia provides a pretty accurate answer: “it is the act of performing live electronic music in settings typically associated with DJing”.
So don’t expect lots of backline on stage, mostly backing tapes on keyboards and computers.
Will Olé Koretsky be the only singer or will DJ Wool be singing too?
We can’t help but hope Dolores will join them at some point to perform as a super guest… time will tell!!!

Very exciting piece of news!

EDIT 9:40 PM (UTC):
Glen Brady, also known as DJ Wool, just posted a great photo on his Instagram account. The Cranberries fans will easily recognize the Irish Chamber Orchestra Studio located in Limerick where it looks like everyone is rehearsing together these days. Nice to discover the D.A.R.K. Live PA set with SCIENCE AGREES on it. We can’t see the whole room but it does look like there’s only one mic for Olé Koretsky. Can we still expect Dolores to make a surprise featuring nonetheless? Suspens…

Last thing to note, Glen Brady is a sound engineer who mixed D.A.R.K. album and was supposed to be an opening act for D.A.R.K. shows last year.

Thanks to J. for noticing!

“Everybody Else…” reissued on translucent red vinyl on May 26 (UPDATED)

April 19, 2017  |  Comments Off on “Everybody Else…” reissued on translucent red vinyl on May 26 (UPDATED)  |  by Axl  |  The Cranberries

The album “Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We?” will be reissued on translucent red vinyl!!
Release date: May 26, 2017

It is a B&N (Barnes & Noble) exclusive.
Label: Barnes Noble Consign
UPC: 0888072028005
Catalog number: 00037

You can preorder it now on Barnes & Noble
Price: $29.99

It’s unclear whether this LP is for the US market exclusively or not and if it will be available in different stores later. Anyway this is probably not the best time to reissue the first album right when fans are awaiting the band’s new album “Something Else” (available in less than 10 days now) and spending money on a new tour, in Europe but also in USA/Canada as we know 18 shows are to be announced soon, and possibly more continents?

Special thanks to Joshua Ryan for the info.

Blast from the past: The Cranberries at CORK ROCK 91 (UPDATED)

April 14, 2017  |  7 Comments  |  by Axl  |  The Cranberries

Next Monday at 8pm the Irish radio RTE2fm will broadcast a documentary about Cork Rock 91 which was a three/four days annual event where The Cranberries appeared on the 1st June 1991.

Held at “Sir Henry’s” in Cork it was definitely The Cranberries early years. Dolores was reviewed in a press article as “the most beautiful pop-girl you’ll hear all year”. Exact setlist is unknown but a few songs played that night are known: Uncertain, Nothing Left At All, Put Me Down, Linger, Dreams.

Photos by Siobhan O’Mahony

The great website The Fanning Sessions published a Cork Rock 91 dedicated page with 4 bands/4 tracks all recorded from Dave Fanning’s 2FM radio show and one of the tracks is “Uncertain” by The Cranberries. So, before the new documentary this Monday, enjoy or re-enjoy the song now.

UPDATE – APRIL 17

Just a couple of hours after the radio broadcast, the podcast is available on this link.
“2FM MUSIC SPECIAL” is a great documentary featuring a recent interview with Noel Hogan and “Dreams” live at Cork Rock 91 possibly broadcast for the very first time. The Cranberries start at 00:34:19

SiriusXM interview audio with Noel & Dolores

April 6, 2017  |  5 Comments  |  by Axl  |  The Cranberries

WE’RE GONNA BRING THE QUARTET
WITH EACH GIG THE PROMOTERS ARE ORGANIZING A LOCAL STRING SECTION

Last Tuesday, Noel and Dolores were interviewed on the US radio SiriusXM on the show “Debatable”.
If you missed it, you can listen to it On Demand on the SiriusXM App. Only working if you are living in the US, for the rest of the world you can listen to the podcast by clicking THIS LINK.
A major thanks to Jackie Hogan who shared it on her Facebook.

Interesting interview which of course includes things already heard before but also a few fresh new anecdotes. It’s about 23 minutes long, a bit too long to summarize everything but here below some highlights:

Dolores: “There was this TV show called The Bachelorette, they asked us to do Linger with a quartet. Well I don’t watch the show, we didn’t know much about it but we said OK […] Linger sounded really nice and we said you know it’s our 25th anniversary maybe we should think doing an album for the fans and doing it with a quartet, that’s where the plan came from.”

Dolores: “It was exciting, the challenge of seeing how the songs might sound without all the electric guitars […] it came together very quickly, we went into a huge room and we tried to do it all live off the floor but the strings were leaking down the mics so we realized that we’d have to do the strings separately…”

Dolores: “They [the songs] kinda feel new this way, so different to the originals, like the originals will bring back the memory of that time at where we were when we were doing, but these new ones remind me now of this time”

Dolores: “with a quartet it’s quite different to the live set, we did a week of rehearsals 2 weeks ago in Ireland and the intros are different and some of the bridges are longer and stuffs like that, so that’s what we have to be very aware, because we’re bringing a quartet and a quartet are playing from a sheet […] you can’t afford to make any mistakes”

Dolores: “The guy who’s leading the quartet, he often looks over…”

Noel:  “A lot of our songs, it’s always a guitar base […] and some like Dreams, Ridiculous, they’ve always been very guitar heavy driven […] that was the challenge to kind of break them down without losing the songs completely […] and leaving enough space for the strings…”

Noel: “There’s 3 new songs, 2 of the songs were songs we had for a while…”

Dolores: “The Glory is about 6 months old, it’s very fresh, the other 2 Rupture and Why were written maybe 2 and a half years ago”

Dolores: “The Glory, the chorus came first, the chorus is quite positive and bright so I think it’s a song that has like optimism in it although there’s kind of sadness and nostalgia but there’s also optimism, so there’s a lot of different emotions going through that song”

Dolores: “I didn’t want people to think that this is the grande finale but we’re middle age now, so it’s something else that we’re bringing out but it’s not like a brand new album or new songs either but it’s ‘Something Else’ you know…”

Dolores: “Dreams did jump out to me […] it’s even more vulnerable than the original, so I was quite happy with that one, I think it sounds really nice, I was really impressed with it…”

Dolores: “I’m still very unsecure when it comes to writing […] I’ve always been played by self doubt and fear…”

Dolores: “We’re musicians, we go up on stage and we play music, and I sing, it makes me feel really good and that’s my thing…”

Dolores: “We’re gonna bring the quartet, with each gig the promoters are organizing a local string section, so the guy from the original quartet from UL (University of Limerick, Irish Chamber Orchestra location) he’s coming and they will have 3 other players sitting in, at each show it will be a different 3 players…”

#CranberriesGeneve: And the winners are… (UPDATED)

April 2, 2017  |  2 Comments  |  by Axl  |  The Cranberries

Congratulations to Régis Cruz and Delilah Macors who just won a ticket to attend The Cranberries show in Genève, Switzerland.

Thanks to all who entered the contest, and apologies for those who didn’t win.
Don’t be too sad as there will sure be some more occasions to run other contests for you to win tickets for upcoming Cranberries shows.

UPDATE APR.3:

Our 2nd winner Delilah Macors doesn’t want to go to Switzerland anymore and let her ticket go to someone else. So we just picked another name and the winner is Kamil O’Riordan. Congrats to him.
Again, all apologies for all the others who didn’t win. Be assured that there will be no other draw (no more heart attack!!) as both Régis and Kamil confirmed they would be in Genève on June 10th.
