December 13, 2022  |  Comments Off on D.A.R.K. about the passing of Angelo Badalamenti  |  by Axl  |  D.A.R.K.

Now is the turn of D.A.R.K. to post a few words on Facebook and Instagram regarding Angelo Badalamenti’s passing. Just like Dolores O’Riordan (Estate) did on social accounts, a never-before seen photo of the whole band (Andy Rourke, Olé Koretsky, Dolores O’Riordan) with the Maestro was added. Still a photo by Francesca Mor on the same day/evening.

“Illusion” a new unreleased track by D.A.R.K. (UPDATED)

December 18, 2017  |  12 Comments  |  by Axl  |  D.A.R.K.

An unreleased track by D.A.R.K. has been shared on Soundcloud 25 days ago under the username JETLAG.NYC along with a brand new photo of Dolores holding a guitar. Thanks to the Facebook page of Dolores O’Riordan Spain for finding this gem as it seems that D.A.R.K. posted it without saying.

The track is called “Track 47 Illusion”
Is this an old demo song not selected to appear on debut album “Science Agrees” or is it a brand new one from a recent work. No one has the answer for now but the second option might be very possible.

lyrics tentative:

4, 3, 2, 1
4, 3, 2, 1
This is a story of failure and glory

Based in town in the South in 1980
Where should I begin
Please come in
Where were you lately
He said with a smile
In a while
It’s an illusion
It’s all an illusion
This is my conclusion for now

uh, uh

I remember the crowd
They were loud and it was something
When you took control of my soul
Then it was nothing
It’s all an illusion
This is my confusion
It’s all an illusion
This is my confusion

(OK that’s the idea)

BREAKING: “D.A.R.K. Live PA” opening for The Cranberries on their European acoustic tour

April 19, 2017  |  4 Comments  |  by Axl  |  D.A.R.K., Dolores O'Riordan, The Cranberries

After “Everybody Else…” reissued on vinyl, another unexpected news today coming this time from D.A.R.K. on their socials.

Olé Koretsky will be joined on stage by DJ Wool performing D.A.R.K. songs and other material, on tour supporting The Cranberries in Europe.

DJ Wool

D.A.R.K. will be supporting The Cranberries on live PA on their European acoustic tour from May 2nd in Berlin to June 10th in Milano. Please note that the summer electric shows in July/August are not concerned, nor the show in Wrocław, Poland on May 1st (which comes as a probable confirmation that Wrocław won’t be an acoustic show). Also, the 3rd Paris show added on May 13th is not on the list but will certainly be included. This seems to be a simple “copy and paste” of The Cranberries website which still doesn’t list the third Paris show (!!??).

For those of you wondering what Live PA means, wikipedia provides a pretty accurate answer: “it is the act of performing live electronic music in settings typically associated with DJing”.
So don’t expect lots of backline on stage, mostly backing tapes on keyboards and computers.
Will Olé Koretsky be the only singer or will DJ Wool be singing too?
We can’t help but hope Dolores will join them at some point to perform as a super guest… time will tell!!!

Very exciting piece of news!

EDIT 9:40 PM (UTC):
Glen Brady, also known as DJ Wool, just posted a great photo on his Instagram account. The Cranberries fans will easily recognize the Irish Chamber Orchestra Studio located in Limerick where it looks like everyone is rehearsing together these days. Nice to discover the D.A.R.K. Live PA set with SCIENCE AGREES on it. We can’t see the whole room but it does look like there’s only one mic for Olé Koretsky. Can we still expect Dolores to make a surprise featuring nonetheless? Suspens…

Last thing to note, Glen Brady is a sound engineer who mixed D.A.R.K. album and was supposed to be an opening act for D.A.R.K. shows last year.

Thanks to J. for noticing!

2 new interviews with Dolores and… a bit of D.A.R.K.

March 30, 2017  |  1 Comments  |  by Axl  |  D.A.R.K., The Cranberries

2 new interviews with Dolores appeared online this week.
First, the website Hi Res Audio Central published on March 28 an article about the forthcoming album “Something Else” and there’s a few words by Dolores O’Riordan herself. Just a glimpse as more of the interview will be coming soon, closer to the album’s release date says the author.

[it’s important to] keep it all sounding natural and real. I wanted us to do it like David Bowie did, where he would leave in the breathing and other elements in the mix that weren’t technically perfect. Whenever a production is too clean and too perfect, you lose the sense of character of both the songs and the singer.

The second interview is a phone interview given to the Colombian radio station “W Radio”.
It’s only 8:43 min. long and with all the language translations, in the end, the interview is quite short. You can hear the replay published on the internet yesterday by clicking this link or on the player below:

About the music industry which radically changed these days and her strategy:
“I don’t think I have done anything different…”

About Latino America concerts:
“I hope to come back in the next 12 months, I think it’s beautiful and the audience is always great there”

About a Colombian show with The Cranberries:
“We’ll certainly consider that, if the right offer comes in and the gig comes up we’ll be there”

About the album Something Else and the collaboration with the Irish Chamber Orchestra:
“We appeared on an American TV show called The Bachelorette and performed with a quartet and it sounded really nice, we did Linger, so myself and Noel the guitar player we decided to do an album and take all the songs with a live set and do them with a quartet”

About the song Rapture:
“I often find myself quite getting low and when you’re low it’s easy to write…”
“…I had it as a demo… recorded in the last few years, so it seemed appropriate to release it now”

About a song she likes to sing the most:
“I don’t really have a favorite, they’re all different experiences in times in my life and different years so they’re all individually precious”

Third and last thing today, Olé Koretsky published on his Instagram and Facebook accounts a new video recorded inside a cessna with the following (full of information) message:

“New song about time travel. got a few fresh ones. #cessna + #livePA vs. #scienceagrees

new song about time travel. got a few fresh ones. #cessna + #livePA vs. #scienceagrees

Posted by Olé Koretsky on Mittwoch, 29. März 2017

Totally out of the blue, we can watch Olé, Dolores and 2 pilots inside that very small plane and, even more interesting, the soundtrack seems to be a piece of a new song by D.A.R.K.
The images were possibly recorded in Mexico last February while they were touring with The Cranberries. Please note that Olé says there’s a few fresh other songs.
After Andy Rourke recently, it’s good to hear that D.A.R.K. is always on a creative mode!!

Some news from D.A.R.K.

February 22, 2017  |  5 Comments  |  by Camille  |  D.A.R.K., Dolores O'Riordan

Good news for those of you who, like us, have been really enthusiastic about D.A.R.K. (Dolores’ side project with Andy Rourke & Olé Koretsky):

Musicradar.com just published a fresh new interview of Andy Rourke ahead of his performance at London Bass Guitar Show on March 5th, 2017.

Asked if the D.A.R.K. project would remain a « one-off » or if there would be more coming from the band, Andy answered :

« In terms of the D.A.R.K project, we are in writing mode at the moment although our schedules are all over the place. Dolores is busy with a Cranberries tour and I’m here working in LA [on a project with Kav Blaggers, former guitarist from Happy Mondays and Black Grape]. But we have a few ideas already. Watch this space is all I can say. »

Let’s hope for new tracks, and that we’ll get to see these folks live one day, ‘cause their rehearsal videos were really promising!!!

“Have a happy and safe New Year”

January 1, 2017  |  3 Comments  |  by Axl  |  D.A.R.K., Dolores O'Riordan

“Have a happy and safe New Year!
With love Andy Rourke, Dolores O’ Riordan, Olé Koretsky, DARK”

This message with the above photo was posted earlier today by D.A.R.K. on their social media. Definitely a good way to start 2017!

However, it’s not clear whether or not this picture was taken last night. Taking a look at Dana Distortion’s Instagram account, there’s no sign Dolores and Olé were attending the same party as Andy. We’re not 100% sure as it does look like the background is quite similar on both photos, plus Andy seems to be dressed almost the same… if any of you have more info, let us know!

EDIT 06:05 PM (UTC):

Small update to emphasise that it actually does seem that both photos were taken yesterday on NYE in the “Night of Joy” bar located in New York City. Proof could come from the well hidden person on the very left of the pic who highly looks like Olé! So we can even imagine that Dolores took the picture as she does not appear on it, and Dana happens to be in the very center.

Pledge Music to satisfy signed Science Agrees vinyl orders in the upcoming days

December 22, 2016  |  1 Comments  |  by Camille  |  D.A.R.K., Dolores O'Riordan

Good news for D.A.R.K. fans who had ordered a signed Science Agrees vinyl and were still waiting for the item to be delivered. After several complaints, Pledge is finally keeping customers updated on their order in the below email:

To all customers still awaiting their orders,

We know some of you have been waiting far longer than you should have for your signed copy of D.A.R.K.’s Science Agrees. This has been due to a number of factors, including the initial shipment of signed stock arriving at our warehouse damaged, and then the time it has taken to get new stock delivered whilst replacement signings happened at the band’s separate locations around the world.

At one point, due to the issues above and other logistical problems, we thought we would never receive more stock and would have to refund you all. However, we are happy tell you we are expecting a limited amount of stock to cover outstanding orders to finally arrive into our warehouse tomorrow (December 23rd) and for shipping to take place as soon as possible. You will receive a notification email once your item ships, but what with the exceptionally busy time of year, we expect this to be in early January.

PledgeMusic and the band apologise profusely for the wait you have endured. We know it has not been good enough, but we hope to get your long awaited signed album to you asap.

Thank you for your continued patience,
PledgeMusic.

This is definitely a HUGE relief as Pledge Music had actually started refunding some of us early December because of stock shortage.

Let’s hope everyone will receive the exclusive items they have ordered more than 8 months ago now.

And thumbs up to the Pledge Music team – once in a while does no harm 😉 – who happened to be very attentive to fans complaints (we can tell for sure as one member of our team was among the disappointed fans who contacted them to express their dissatisfaction).

If some of you are still awaiting for some news from Pledge, drop us (or DoloreO’RiordanSpain Facebook) a word to see if we can help you reaching out to them.

“Science Agrees” signed vinyls: where is Olé taking us to? (4 UPDATES)

December 10, 2016  |  5 Comments  |  by Camille  |  D.A.R.K., Dolores O'Riordan

As you may have noticed, some of Olé Koretsky’s very cool signatures on Science Agrees vinyls feature some geographic coordinates.
Let’s thus have a bit of fun finding out where Olé is taking us, sometimes even inviting fans to travel in time!

VINYL #1 (thanks to electro1979)

This one makes fans land in Australia, in a residential area: 2 Hewlett St, Bronte NSW 2024.
As Olé mentions the year 1988 and signs “TIME TRAVEL”, we can imagine this could be the place where he spent his childhood? Very mysterious!

VINYL #2 (thanks to peepee173)

“TIME TRAVEL”
Another puzzling one that leads fans to Miami Beach in Florida, USA: 7601 Atlantic Way, Miami Beach, FL 33141, USA. Seems like Olé is again inviting us to travel in time back to 2005.

VINYL #3 (thanks to PT)

“WE’LL GET IT RIGHT NEXT TIME”
Wondering where the Science Agrees vinyls were signed? This one possibly shades light on this question as GPS coordinates point to the Londonian suburds: 12 Swainson Rd, London W3 7XB, UK.
Looking for this address on the Internet will reveal these are Cooking Vinyl offices!
Note the big “KO” on his face… rather cool, isn’t it?

VINYL #4 (thanks to raulovinyl)

“ON MY WAY”
This one is quite funny as Olé mentions he is “on his way” to this destination, which happens to be none other but Shannon Airport, near Limerick in Ireland.
Have safe flights, Olé 😉
Double “KO” on his face on this one !

VINYL #5 (thanks to Andrea)

“GETTING WARMER”
With this new one sent by Andrea from Italia, Olé sends us to Venice beach, Los Angeles.
Not too much of a surprising destination, let us remember Dolores has/had (?) a flat at Marina del Ray and was spotted on this beach in February 2015.

VINYL #6 (thanks to Mario A.)

Another cool “TIME TRAVEL” signed LP. Hard to see it on this picture but 1991 is written on Olé’s face.
The coordinates point to the following address: 1633 79th St, Brooklyn, NY 11214, USA.
Looking at the street view picture on the right, you’ll see a building that looks like a school. Was it Olé’s school (kindergarten?) when he was a child back in 1991?
Possibly, unless he wants us to see the opposite side of the street and the multifamily residential? Could be a place where he grew up….

VINYL #7 (thanks to Richard)

“…CLOSER THAN YOU THINK”
No coordinates on this one but as Richard says: “Pretty cool”

VINYL #8 (thanks to cranfandy)

“SEE YOU AT SIX”
A rendez-vous? How cool!
These coordinates are leading us to 1 Highwood Avenue, Tenafly, NJ 07670, USA.
Looks like a small mall with three restaurants (Sushi, Café & Grill, Vietnamese) a clothing shop for children (Party Girl), a jeweler (Charmed) and a hair salon (BBC Salon).
Where do you think Olé is inviting us? Are we up for a dinner, a jewel, or a haircut?
Our guess is on a restaurant… or wasn’t Olé working as a hairdresser at one point though?

VINYL #9 (thanks to cranmex)

“ARCTIC  OK  THANK YOU”
Just like Richard LP, this one has no coordinates and may be related to travels.
Possibly Arctic is such an exact position itself that it doesn’t need any GPS coordinates!
So travelling to the Arctic ??!!? …  let’s go 🙂
Another cool message for sure.

Feel free to send us a picture of yours, the more we get pieces of the puzzle, the funnier it is.
And most of all, thanks to Olé for this cool treasure hunt.

Pledge Music – from disappointment to disappointment…

November 30, 2016  |  8 Comments  |  by Camille  |  D.A.R.K., Dolores O'Riordan

What a very disappointing news for fans who had ordered D.A.R.K.’s “Science Agrees” Screen Print on Pledge Music almost 8 months ago now: the platform is about to refund fans as “unfortunately, not enough orders were placed to meet the requirements for a minimum run to be manufactured

What’s all the more unsatisfying is that -once again- Pledge Music failed to inform fans about it (and to proceed to refunds). Cranberries World’s team got to learn about it today through a fan who emailed Pledge Music to complain as he had still not received the ordered items.
Quite unprofessional taking into account orders have been closed since September 9th… time to realize “not enough orders were placed” on November 30th !!!
They let the fan know they “will therefore be refunding [him] for this item” and “are extremely sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and will process [his] refund ASAP.”

Not to mention that this is another loss of money for foreign fans who bought this signed screen print in March when British pound was rather high, and who are going to be refunded now the pound has significantly decreased. Thank you Pledge, thank you Brexit!

Although we’re really excited about the signed vinyl -especially as Olé is treating fans with cool messages as you can see on the below pictures- we have to emphasize Pledge Music’s lame services: release date postponed three times, fans pre-ordered items damaged in the process of delivery, finally delivered almost three months after general sale…

This excellent album has been cursed, to say the least 🙁

Signed LP’s now on their way… and some of them have (already) arrived:

Here’s the Pledge Music message as received:

Hi,
Thank you for your patience waiting for your Signed Screen Print from D.A.R.K.
Unfortunately, not enough orders were placed to meet the requirements for a minimum run to be manufactured and we will therefore be refunding you for this item. We are extremely sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and will process your refund ASAP.

“Watch Out” second live rehearsal video footage by D.A.R.K.

November 18, 2016  |  Comments Off on “Watch Out” second live rehearsal video footage by D.A.R.K.  |  by Axl  |  D.A.R.K.

Nice surprise today, D.A.R.K. published on their YouTube account a second video of their rehearsal. You all remember the first one which was a one minute glimpse of the song “Loosen The Noose” published about a month ago.

This time this is “Watch Out” and it is the complete song, 5 min long. The video even is mutli-angles and includes a 30 sec intro speech by Dolores herself. The YouTube description reveals the exact date of the take: December 6, 2015… almost one year. Enjoy!

Signed “Science Agrees” LP’s and CD’s delayed

October 12, 2016  |  2 Comments  |  by Axl  |  D.A.R.K.

Customers who ordered signed “Science Agrees” LP’s or CD’s at Pledge Music received a shipping update email today to let them know their orders were delayed. It seems the albums were damaged in transit around the world to get all band members to sign them. Here’s below the official statement:

This is an update on the Signed D.A.R.K. LPs and CDs.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the signing of the albums hasn’t been possible with the band all in one location. Subsequently, the stock had to be shipped to individual members all over the world – in both Ireland and the USA – and once the stock arrived at the fulfilment warehouse in the UK, it was discovered to have become damaged in transit and not something any of PledgeMusic, the band’s management, or the record label involved felt happy shipping to customers.

We are currently in the process of getting this rectified. There is a quicker turnaround on getting replacement signed CDs and as such these should begin shipping to customers asap. Unfortunately, the signed vinyl will take longer, but there will be an update when we know accurate delivery times.

We apologise for this delay, but we know no-one would have been happy to receive the damaged albums.

Thanks,
PledgeMusic.

A month after Science Agrees release

October 12, 2016  |  5 Comments  |  by Camille  |  D.A.R.K., Dolores O'Riordan

There is renewed hope for fans who cannot wait to see Dolores O’Riordan new project with Ole Koretsky and Andy Rourke, D.A.R.K., live !

Indeed, no later than last night, the band posted the below video on their Instagram account asking fans “which songs would you like to see played live ?

Can we thus expect the band to go on tour late 2016 – which is unlikely if The Cranberries are touring South America – or in 2017 ?

From this small and very exciting preview of the rehearsals, there’s no doubt fans will be very disappointed if the tour is not taking place as Loosen The Noose sounds brilliant here.

Let’s thus cross fingers we’ll be lucky enough to see them live in the upcoming months/year, and that we’ll get to see more of this video filmed during the rehearsals too.

Let’s also note that the Cranberries World poll “What’s your favorite track on Science Agrees?” has now ended, interestingly showing that High Fashion clearly stands out as the ONE song most Cranberries fans consider as their favorite on the album with a high score of 35% !

The second song that received quite a lot of votes too is Gunfight (23%), which is not so surprising taking into account fans comments when the song was released. What a blast !

The two winners are closely followed by Loosen The Noose (20%) and Watch Out (16%).

You can see the poll results by clicking here, a good preview for the band to know which songs fans would like to hear live 😉

“Gunfight” 1-track promo CD on eBay

October 3, 2016  |  2 Comments  |  by Axl  |  D.A.R.K.

“Gunfight” again!
The UK promo CD just appeared for the very first time on eBay last week.
Described as a radio edit version, it is a 1-track CD (probably CDR) wraparound paper sleeve made by Cooking Vinyl. The picture is low quality but enough to recognize the Gunfight artwork already seen before.

Which version will it be, the one off the CD or the vinyl?
My money on the CD…

Thanks to Christophe for the info.

“Gunfight” alternative version available on “Science Agrees” vinyl

October 3, 2016  |  1 Comments  |  by Axl  |  D.A.R.K.

Funny thing to notice, the album “Science Agrees” is not exactly the same whether you have the CD or the vinyl. The vinyl indeed offers the alternative version of the song “Gunfight”.

As reported before there are two known versions of the song. The CD contains what we can probably call the final version (as this is the one that matches the lyrics written in both CD booklet and vinyl inner sleeve) and the vinyl features the other, the “doing me harm” version.
Take a look at the video posted on our instagram account:

"Gunfight" by @darktheband – #Alternative version.

This is the only difference that has been noticed for now… is it the only one?

Update on Science Agrees release

September 9, 2016  |  3 Comments  |  by Camille  |  D.A.R.K., Dolores O'Riordan

Still keeping you updated on Science Agrees release as it seems some fans were lucky enough to get their hands on a hard copy of the album today!!!

You can check below a pic of the CD, case, booklet published by DORSpain.
(As usual click on the picture to see it larger)

news-2016-09-09-sa-dorspain-scan

We used this occasion to update Credits & Lyrics in our discography, have a look at them.

So… if you managed to get a physical copy of the album, please let us know where it is available to help the desperate fans who cannot find it!
What we know for sure is that no one has been able to buy it in any store in France at the moment.
Tell us more about the availability in your country.

UPDATE:
It seems the album is on sale in Spain (Fnac stores), and in the UK.
Impossible to find it in France / Germany / Netherlands.

Also, to celebrate this release, let’s note D.A.R.K. posted a very cool vid on their Facebook account which you can watch below.

Last, numerous articles are being published to cover this release. Let’s thus put forward this very cool interview of Andy Rourke given to Yahoo Music that should get Smiths fans into this side project 😉

“Science Agrees” is here and Elvis has left the building…

September 9, 2016  |  Comments Off on “Science Agrees” is here and Elvis has left the building…  |  by Axl  |  D.A.R.K.

D.A.R.K.’s debut album “Science Agrees” has finally arrived… at least on streaming platforms. As reported earlier, it might be a little more tricky to find hard copies. Please let us know if you can find the album in your local record store today!

Elvis has left the building…
On the other hand, “The D.A.R.K. Project” launched by Pledge Music has just closed. If you haven’t yet preordered your album(s) or signed album(s) it’s too late now. A few minutes ago, at midnight exactly (UK time), all the special offers have closed.

news-2016-09-09-dark-project-has-closed

Earlier this week Pledge Music already cut off the sale of the “Signed Screen Print” probably due to the small sales of this henceforth very collector item. Take a look at the website Cranberryesque, this is perfectly explained. Anyway time is now over for all the items. For information less than 20 “Signed LPs” and more than 300 “Signed CDs” remained.

UPDATE 0:30 AM (UTC):
One of our readers -Max Cranfan, thanks to him- has just informed us on Facebook that his vinyl copy has shipped from Amazon UK. Some lucky fans will definitely receive a physical album possibly later today. What a great news!!!

“Science Agrees” release, a few hours left…

September 8, 2016  |  5 Comments  |  by Camille  |  D.A.R.K., Dolores O'Riordan

Are you guys all ready to discover D.A.R.K.’s debut album Science Agrees tomorrow?
Much to our delight the band confirmed a moment ago on Facebook the release date for tomorrow, which is reassuring as after a few postponements we feared the album would never see the light of day.

However there are still doubts on the fact the album will be physically released tomorrow.
Indeed, some members of our crew called their local record stores today to ask if the album would be available tomorrow… weirdly enough they were told they would have none in stocks this week!

So, was Amazon.com right announcing a digital release on September 9th and physical release (both CD and Vinyl) on October 14th? Time will tell, but vinyls/CDs collectors, be prepared for a possible deception… (or call your own local stores NOW and give us hope!)

September 6, 2016  |  2 Comments  |  by Axl  |  D.A.R.K., Dolores O'Riordan

September 6, 2016: what a day!
After Dolores’ Birthday, the brand new audio interview featuring Dolores O’Riordan & Andy Rourke and the official world premiere of the track “High Fashion”, the website ConsequenceOfSound.net just officially shared “The Moon” – which, as we learnt earlier, is Dolores fav track of the album. The song is introduced as a gothic club track!

So if you didn’t get the album last August 19th when it was accidentally made available on streaming platforms and/or still haven’t heard “The Moon”, it is time.

Thanks to Cranberryesque for noticing.

AUDIO interview with D.A.R.K.’s Dolores O’ Riordan and Andy Rourke + “High Fashion” world premiere

September 6, 2016  |  1 Comments  |  by Axl  |  D.A.R.K.

Back in April this year, Dolores O’ Riordan and Andy Rourke gave an interview for The Talkhouse supposed to be published in May. A few pictures were published on this post. As the album was postponed, the publication was delayed as well… until today as the website TheTalkouse.com made it available online.

It is a 28 min long audio interview podcast which also includes the official world premiere of the song “High Fashion”. Sure most of the fans have already heard the song as the album previously appeared/leaked on streaming platforms last August 19th before it was taken down the following day!!!

2016.04.02 talkhouse 1

2016.04.02 talkhouse 5

Naturally, no one knows more about music than musicians. On Talkhouse podcasts, smart, notable artists from the world of music talk candidly to each other about their work. It’s the kind of conversation you won’t hear anywhere else. The Talkhouse podcasts are an extension of the fascinating written dialogues that happen every day on the Talkhouse.

On this week’s episode of the Talkhouse Music Podcast, Andy Rourke of the Smiths and Dolores O’Riordan of the Cranberries sit down to discuss their new supergroup, D.A.R.K, and we give their song, “High Fashion,” its world premiere.

The new bandmates and old friends talk Dolores’ teenage Smiths fandom, Stephen Street (who helmed production duties on iconic records for both groups), initial reaction from their legendary bands’ diehard fans to the new project, and getting pelted onstage at festivals back in the day by a half-eaten apple and a packet of sausages adorned with the note “Meat is Murder.” Take a listen and subscribe now on iTunes or Stitcher to stay in the loop on future Talkhouse Podcasts.
— Elia Einhorn, Talkhouse Podcast producer and engineer

NB: If you can’t contain your excitement and need to hear “High Fashion” before the talk, skip ahead to 4:30. We don’t blame you.

What about “Science Agrees” physical release?

September 3, 2016  |  3 Comments  |  by Camille  |  D.A.R.K., Dolores O'Riordan

Is there reasons to believe that Science Agrees release date could be postponed once again, or that the album could never see the light of day? (or at least be released digitally only)

A question worth asking as a fan who lives in Canada caught our attention on an email she received from Amazon.ca to let her know that her Science Agrees vinyl preorder was cancelled because they “expected to be able to send this item to [her]” but they “since found out it’s not available from any of [their] sources at this time“.

2016.09.03 amazonpreordercancelled

Quite a worrying message, especially now the D.A.R.K. European tour has been cancelled (and not postponed) a couple of days ago.

Although PledgeMusic has FINALLY updated the release date to September 9th on their website, let’s recall that fans who preorder the album/vinyl on their platform are made aware that the items should be ready on “October 21st”. Also, Amazon.com states that the album (CD and Vinyl) will be released on October 14th.

Whatever is happening here, we feel sorry for the band as these numerous postponements and cancellations must be quite a disappointment for them.

Let’s note that, on the journalists side, it seems some more promo CDs have been sent recently to the media for them to review the album in their September issues.
Indeed, as shown by the below pictures of two CDs that were sold on eBay recently, Cooking Vinyl pressed a new version of the album.

1st promo CD released in April 2016 (COOKCD642W):

2016.09.03 SA promo refW front

2016.09.03 SA promo refW back

2nd promo CD released in August 2016 (COOKCD642P):

2016.09.03 SA promo refP front

As a matter of fact, first reviews are being published these days, such as the tough one published on Slug Magazine or that of Pitchfork.

Special thanks to Andrea.

Towards another postponement of the D.A.R.K. tour? (TOUR CANCELLED – 7 UPDATES)

September 1, 2016  |  9 Comments  |  by Camille  |  D.A.R.K., Dolores O'Riordan

Some members of our team just noticed that tickets for the Parisian concert of D.A.R.K. on September 22nd are not available for sale anymore at the moment, which could be a very nice surprise if that meant the concert was now sold out.

However, let’s note that, when trying to buy tickets on GDP, buyers are not told that the concert is sold out but that “there was a problem with the reservation”.
Fnac, on its side, mention that “tickets are no longer available…”

What’s more intriguing is that the band was still pushing the date on social media two days ago with a new video promoting the performance at Divan du Monde, which usually tends to show that the venue is far from selling out.

Although all other dates are still on sale, it seems the same “problem” can be noted with the Italian date due to take place on September 23rd at Tunnel Club in Milano.
Indeed, if one tries to buy tickets on Live Nation, the following message appears:

TICKETS CANCELLED

Currently No Tickets Available
Check back again soon for exclusive access to tickets!

2016.09.01 milano tix

This is definitely not a good sign as none of these concerts seemed close to selling out lately.
Let’s remember Dolores recently had to cancel four dates with The Cranberries lately due to health problems.

We fear another postponement/cancellation would deal severe blow to the D.A.R.K. project 🙁

UPDATE 1PM (CET): TOUR IS OFFICIALLY CANCELLED – NOT POSTPONED

Thanks to Cordell who confirmed a moment ago he/she received a mail from Fnac to confirm that the Paris date would not take place.

We also just received an email from Cyprus Avenue, Cork, to let us know that tickets bought for the D.A.R.K. concert were refunded.

Here is the official statement:

DARK have unfortunately been forced to cancel their European tour including their Cork date scheduled for Sept 17th. Refunds available from point of purchase. Statement from the band: ‘We are really sorry that we have to cancel these shows. Unfortunately Dolores has suffered an acute back injury. An MRI scan confirmed she has a bulging disc which causes extreme pain which has meant that she has not been able to fulfil several engagements in the last couple of weeks. We had hoped that with treatment and rest she would be recovered for this tour. Sadly this is not the case and the doctors have now advised full rest for at least the next month to ensure that her condition does not become more serious. Apologies for the inconvenience that this causes, it’s simply impossible to go ahead with the tour.’

Same message for the show in London, Bush Hall.

UPDATE 1:35 PM (CET): Official statement for Milano:

UPDATE 1:55 PM (CET):

Limerick show at Dolan’s Warehouse now officially cancelled, same statement as the others.

UPDATE 2:20 PM (CET):

The Whelan’s webiste just marked the Dublin show as cancelled and the Doctor Music’s website did the same for the show in Madrid at Caracol

FOR NOW ALL THE SHOWS BUT BERLIN, GERMANY ARE OFFICIALLY MARKED AS CANCELLED.

UPDATE 2:45 PM (CET):

Doctor Music‘s official statement for Madrid:

“Science Agrees” being taken down from digital platforms?!

August 19, 2016  |  5 Comments  |  by Camille  |  D.A.R.K., Dolores O'Riordan

Did digital platforms such as Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer & co get “Science Agrees” release date wrong?

It seems something tricky is happening as the album was just taken down from iTunes music a couple of hours ago, now followed by Apple Music!!!
Could it be that these platforms were not informed that the release date was pushed back? This is a possibility, we’ll see in the following hours if the album remains available on other streaming platforms (Deezer, Spotify…)

If you want to get your hands on it before September 9th, make it fast cause you might not be able to buy it in the upcoming hours/days!!!

Whatever is happening, there’s definitely a mess surrounding this release which was already postponed twice since May 27th…
As mentioned in our previous post, Pledge Music is now announcing that people who preordered the signed CD/LP on their website should expect it to be delivered on October 21st!!!
Last, Amazon.com now mentions a digital release on August 19th and a physical release on October 14th, see below screencap:

2016.08.19 sc amazon usa

What the hell is happening?
Would the band fail to mention the digital album release today whereas they keep on promoting the upcoming Irish shows?

Thanks to Cranberryesque for drawing our attention on Amazon’s new release date

UPDATE AUGUST 20:
The album has now been removed from Spotify & Deezer too!

“Science Agrees” available NOW on digital platforms!

August 18, 2016  |  1 Comments  |  by Camille  |  D.A.R.K., Dolores O'Riordan

Surprising news but definitely real: “Science Agrees” is now available on digital platforms!

Indeed, fans first believed earlier today that the album had leaked, but it appears that it is actually available for digital download on iTunes Russia already, same goes for iTunes Australia as it’s already August 19th there!

2016.08.18 SA iTunes Russia

As a reminder, the release date was first set to May 27th, postponed to August 19th and then postponed again to September 9th. It seems September 9th will thus be the date of the physical release.

The Cranberries World team has already started working on the lyrics, feel free to help us correcting/completing them in our discography 🙂  (if you have any suggestions => “Leave a Reply” below)

As you might know, a demo version of the album had leaked on April 26th in a very private sphere. Some members of our team who are in possession of this version will compare as soon as possible both albums to see if there are major differences such as that we spotted on Gunfight. We will keep you updated on that but can definitely note for the moment that the tracklist is unchanged!

BUY IT AND ENJOY IT AS MUCH AS WE DO!

PS: Thanks to our friends at Cranberries Mexico who were the first to notice the “leak” in the afternoon

UPDATE AUGUST 19:
Although we mentioned last night that September 9th would probably be the date of release of the physical version of the album, it seems we were wrong as Pledge Music updated their website this morning stating that the CD and LP are now available but when clicking on their button it still says pre-order (weird!)
What’s even weirder is that the “expected fulfillment date” mentioned for those who pre-ordered signed album & LP is now set to October 21st!!! How disappointing when you’re among the first ones to preorder the album…

CONFIRMED: Cranberries “Greatest Hits” album with the Irish Chamber Orchestra

August 3, 2016  |  7 Comments  |  by Axl  |  D.A.R.K., The Cranberries

The English magazine “Classic Pop” published in their current August/September issue a brand new interview with D.A.R.K., the first one featuring Dolores.

2016.08.03 CP cover
Even if this interview is totally focused on D.A.R.K., one part retains the reader’s attention more than the others as “Classic Pop” is the very first media to officially confirm what Cranberries World team member Jury exposed/guessed a few months ago:

THE CRANBERRIES ARE/WERE RECORDING AN ALBUM WITH THE IRISH CHAMBER ORCHESTRA.

DOLORES: (…) at the time I felt like it (Roses) was going to be the last album, but the years go by, things happen in your life and you end up together.

A cranberries ‘greatest hits’ album is due to be recorded soon with the Irish Chamber Orchestra and that project co-exists with the debut album by D.A.R.K.

Dolores and the boys probably had not recorded anything when this interview was done, and to this day it is unclear whether the lads totally finished all their tracks/parts nor if Dolores even started recording hers. Anyway, this is definitely good news for all The Cranberries fans.

The rest of the interview, the main part, is still very interesting as it’s the very first time we get to read Dolores’ point of view about D.A.R.K.’s project:

DOLORES: It’s a very different way of working to how The Cranberries operate (…) This project is completely different than anything else I have worked on and I’d have to call it unique. It wasn’t contrived in any way. It just kinda happened and became the sound that it was.

OLE KORETSKY: Apart from the Seventies wannabee purists, 90% of bands these days are using programs. Everybody is playing to a click track! The Cranberries are one of the bands who don’t do that. Them, AC/DC, and The Rolling Stones are just rocking out! It’s a very different vibe.

Dolores also talks about the tough days, the time she spent in a psychiatric hospital, the help received from doctors and family and the fact she is feeling better now. Some parts of “Science Agrees” were recorded during this turmoil. Working on D.A.R.K.’s songs was a sort of therapy.

DOLORES: I was manic when I was recording Gunfight”.

As revealed by Dolores on Twitter yesterday, D.A.R.K. is currently rehearsing for their upcoming September European tour:

“My first day back with DARK rehearsing for our Irish dates.

Today, a picture posted on the band official Instagram account reveals the identity of the musicians who will be we touring with Andy, Olé and Dolores:

So rare it has to be shared!!!
Dolores took her first ever selfie today and posted it on her Facebook account with the following words:

Hello Facebook!!
This is my first selfie….ever!
I got a few days off from The Cranberries tour so I thought I’d give Facebook a crack…. It’s great to be back on the road with Mike, Noel and Ferg and I’m really looking forward to the September DARK tour with Andy and Ole. New DARK songs are here: https://DARK.lnk.to/SA
Sending you all my love…Dolores xo

On the other hand and following the news about Science Agrees new release date and Gunfight‘s availability on streaming platforms, the fansite Cranberryesque discovered on Spotify that the song had its own artwork:

“Science Agrees” confirmed for September 9th (physical and digital)

July 27, 2016  |  Comments Off on “Science Agrees” confirmed for September 9th (physical and digital)  |  by Axl  |  D.A.R.K.

As previously suspected, the album “Science Agrees” has been delayed a second time, this was officially confirmed on D.A.R.K.’s Facebook account today in their post regarding Gunfight‘s availability on streaming platforms for all to listen.

Check out our new song ‘Gunfight’! Watch the video or pre-order ‘Science Agrees’ here: https://DARK.lnk.to/SA If you pre-order digitally, you’ll get three tracks instantly, ‘Curvy’, ‘Loosen The Noose’ and ‘Gunfight’.
Also, our album release date is now September 9th.

2016.07.27 SA new release date

The band also updated their Facebook cover photo.
The new release date is thus now set on September 9th both for digital and physical copies all over the world. PledgeMusic just extended pre-order time from 23 to 44 days (but still lists the release date as May 27th though!!).

This doesn’t explain why a few platforms still mention a release date on August 19th (such as Apple Music which just might not have been updated since this final postponement) and some September 23rd…

New interview with Andy Rourke from D.A.R.K.

July 25, 2016  |  Comments Off on New interview with Andy Rourke from D.A.R.K.  |  by Axl  |  D.A.R.K.

“When Dolores came on board she brought a whole other dimension. It was like the missing link we’d been looking for.
(…)
Dolores was one of the lights of the recording process because you say ‘Woah’ and everything starts coming together.”

These words are extracts from the brand new interview published on Artistdirectinterviews.com who recently met Andy Rourke (Olé & Dolores were not interviewed here).
Possibly the most interesting interview about D.A.R.K. published to this day.
It is titled “D.A.R.K. discuss what matters on Sciences Agrees”

Read the interview by clicking this link

2016.07.25 ADI

The interviewer essentially focuses on D.A.R.K. and the album “Sciences Agrees” and goes straight to the point as he does not linger on cliché questions about The Smiths, The Cranberries or how they met.

Sure, some (very few) questions have been asked before in previous interviews you might have already read, but most of them are fresh. There are even a few funny parts, like Andy not being “good with the heat” or Olé not being “a happy-go-lucky guy unless he is complaining” ( 🙂 )

Andy confirms the will of the band “to do U.S. gigs this winter” and hopes to experience grounding/humbling moments again with D.A.R.K. like those he had with The Smiths, especially as “Dolores fans are very passionate”

The album is still announced for August 19th but the interview was probably recorded before the 2nd postponement… unless this 2nd postponement only concerns physical copies and not digital release?
Just in case you missed an episode “Science Agrees” is now announced for September 9th mostly everywhere and even for September 23rd in some places!

On why “Science Agrees” release was postponed twice…

July 20, 2016  |  4 Comments  |  by Camille  |  D.A.R.K., Dolores O'Riordan

As you may know, the third track of Science Agrees, Gunfight, was officially released today as a free download for fans who had preordered the album on Pledge Music.
Like many, we enthusiastically waited for midnight to give this track a listen and found out that mix and lyrics actually differ from the 30-second-extract of the song that was published on Shazam mid may!

Indeed, what we will now call an alternative version featured the following line:

“This love life is doing me harm”

whereas we can obviously hear the below words on the official release today:

“This love life, lost in your arms”

GFlyrx

This interesting change leads us to ponder over the reason that triggered two postponements of the album release date: has the album undergone changes since?

We believe it’s worth considering such theory, especially as, as noted recently, two unknown tracks which are NOT part of the tracklist that was revealed in May have been used by the band in videos made to promote the upcoming European shows.

Are we to expect a new tracklist and different versions of the songs that were sent to journalists in May?
Time will tell, but this is definitely exciting!

EDIT: SEP.09, 2016
Lyrics above were just an attempt before the album was officially released. Now the album is out and the official lyrics say: “You know I can’t sleep” and not “Now”

Another D.A.R.K. track available for download now: GUNFIGHT [UPDATED]

July 19, 2016  |  27 Comments  |  by Camille  |  D.A.R.K.

Thanks to fansite Cranberryesque and Richard for noticing that fans who preordered Science Agrees on the official Pledge Music store will be able to download the third track of the album Gunfight for free in a couple of minutes/hours as it will be available on July 20, probably at midnight. So Australia, Japan, China, Russia and other fans living in the East get ready it should be available any minute now!

gunfight dl

Such a cool treat for fans as this track might be one of the most promising of the album.

As usual, the Cranberries World team has worked on deciphering the lyrics for you which you can find here or by clicking on our Song List A-Z section or the discography.

Please feel free to let us know if you think we got something wrong until we get to read the album booklet.

We’re especially unsure of the verb “cost” on the line “people cost a lot” as some people hear a “L” or a “R” in the word.
Could still be “cost” though, let’s remember the track Black Widow on Dolores first solo album Are You Listening? on which she sang “the b-lack widow” which was confusing for some fans.

Help would be much appreciated if native speakers could give us a hand on this 😉

In the meantime, enjoy!

[EDIT: MIDNIGHT UK TIME]
Gunfight is now available for everyone, finally we had to wait midnight in the UK probably because Pledgemusic is based in UK. Sad news for people living in the East and good news for people living in the West.

UPDATE  – JULY 27 – 1:20 PM (UTC)
Gunfight is now officially available on YouTube and all streaming platforms like AppleMusic, Spotify…

D.A.R.K.’s interview in “Louder Than War” magazine

July 13, 2016  |  Comments Off on D.A.R.K.’s interview in “Louder Than War” magazine  |  by Axl  |  D.A.R.K.

The UK magazine “Louder Than War” published in their last May/June 2016 issue a 2-page interview with Olé Koretsky and Andy Rourke from the band D.A.R.K.

2016.07.13 LTW news

The first page is focused on Andy Rourke and his past, essentially with The Smiths.
The second page is about D.A.R.K. from the early years to the Dolores years.

The guys talk about how they met back in 2003/2004, moving to New York, a bit of the writing process, the first rehearsals with Dolores, how different it is to record an album with D.A.R.K. compared to The Smiths and how proud and excited they are to finally put out this record as it was a long journey.

If you already read the past interviews published on the internet before (if you missed them see our interview section) you’ll notice the questions and answers are mostly the same. Anyway this is still interesting to read for the 1 or 2 new things to learn.

3 new promo videos for D.A.R.K.’s upcoming concerts

July 11, 2016  |  4 Comments  |  by Axl  |  D.A.R.K.

Quite a busy period these last days for Cranberries fans who do not know which way to turn: while the band is still touring Europe on their “Summer Tour 2016”, D.A.R.K. released 3 new videos to promote their upcoming September gigs in Europe.

You can check below these 3 videos published on 3 different medias, one for the Paris show on Vimeo (which for unknown reason became private, so we re-uploaded it on our YouTube account), one for the London show on Instagram and one for the Madrid show on Facebook.
Will there be more of these exciting videos to come?

¡Hola Madrid! El 27 de septiembre presentamos los temas de nuestro primer álbum “Science Agrees” en la sala Caracol. ¡No faltéis!

Posted by DARK on Monday, 11 July 2016

What’s even more interesting is that, if you can hear some bits of “The Moon” on the Paris video, some fans noticed that the backing tracks on the other two videos (London & Madrid) are extracts from songs that actually do not appear on D.A.R.K.’s debut album as we know it!!

For those who would like to investigate on this, you might remember that all 10 tracks of “Science Agrees” are available as preview on Shazam as reported before.

It is definitely worth wondering what these new tracks are: unreleased tracks? hidden tracks on the album? or maybe the reason why the album was delayed to September 9th as the band might have chosen to change the tracklist at the very last minute?
Time will tell…

“Hopefully in the winter D.A.R.K. will be doing gigs in the U.S.”

Andy Rourke

This is the part of the interview where all the American fans will become very happy.
The interview is called “An interview with Andy Rourke of D.A.R.K.” and is available on the Spill Magazine website, a Toronto-based online publication dedicated to covering the independent music scene.

Andy Rourke essentially talks about the musical vision of D.A.R.K. as he sees it, the manner of recording tracks, how Dolores was involved in the project, doing gigs and touring, as well as his musical legacy with The Smiths.

“Science Agrees” pushed back to September… (UPDATED)

June 17, 2016  |  4 Comments  |  by Axl  |  D.A.R.K.

It seems the D.A.R.K.’s debut album “Science Agrees” has been delayed again… As seen in the last lines of the news yesterday the new release date is now set for September 9th in the USA.
An article on the US website Readjunk.com already talked about that last week.

Science Agrees

Also last week an article on RockChickenz.com announced the album for September 9th. The website/blog is based in Ireland so the release date announced in the article should concern Ireland (?).

And today another clue, the record shop Fnac in France and Belgium is now announcing the album for “September 2016”. This probably means the new release date for the whole Europe might be September 2016… and probably the 9th (or close) even if that information is not officially mentionned yet.

If USA and Europe have a new release date for September, there is a good chance that the new release date for the world is September as well. The album was originally planned for May 27th then delayed to August 19th and now delayed again to September… let’s hope this one is the right one!

UPDATE – June 23
“Science Agrees” delayed to September 9th on Amazon Germany and Amazon Italy today.
September 9th is on the way to be the new worldwide release date!

Also to notice on the Reybee’s website the album of D.A.R.K. is now announced for September 9.
This is possibly the release date for USA only as Reybee is in charge of the U.S.
The rest of the world is still announced for a release on August 19th…

EDIT: The 2nd picture has been published in a magazine called “Louder Than War” and can be ordered on this link. Have a glimpse of the article on Jen Maler Instagram.

The Cranberries back in rehearsals, invite fans to join them and shed a light on D.A.R.K.’s tour postponement

May 15, 2016  |  6 Comments  |  by Camille  |  D.A.R.K., Dolores O'Riordan, The Cranberries

The band is back to the Limerick Chamber Orchestra studio this week so as to rehearse once more for the summer shows that will take place in Europe and Mexico.

This time, Dolores is rehearsing with the boys, Johanna and Mikey, as seen on the pictures Noel posted on the band’s Instagram account:

These rehearsals are taking place as Dolores should have been starting touring Europe with her side project D.A.R.K.
A great opportunity for fans who were to fly to Limerick to attend D.A.R.K.’s first concert ever as a few of them were lucky enough to be invited by Dolores herself to attend The Cranberries rehearsals twice!

Congrats to Litsa (Greece), Voula (Greece) and Dolores (Croatia) who probably had the time of their life, enjoying a “private” concert, being offered setlists and taking pics with the band!

The girls used the occasion to question Dolores about D.A.R.K.’s tour postponement and learned that it was due to visa issues for their guitarist, which explains why fans got to learn about the rescheduled dates pretty late. The band is grateful, however, that fans are quite tolerant and not blaming them for this postponement.

D.A.R.K.’s tour dates POSTPONED!

May 1, 2016  |  7 Comments  |  by Camille  |  D.A.R.K., Dolores O'Riordan

If you’ve been following the D.A.R.K. news lately, you probably already know that “Science Agrees” release is to be postponed to August 19th, 2016.

As an obvious consequence, rumor grew that next announcement would concern a possible postponement of the band European tour that was due to take place from May 13th to May 26th.

darkgigspostponed

This rumor was just officially confirmed a moment ago as D.A.R.K. published the below message on their Facebook account :

To all our fans we are so sorry to announce that we have to postpone our forthcoming tour until September due to the last minute unavailability of our lead guitarist and the deferral of the release of our debut album until late August. All tickets already purchased will be valid for the rescheduled shows in September details of which will be announced after the weekend. For those of you who cannot make it to our rescheduled shows full refunds will be given. We sincerely regret this and hope to see you at our shows in September.

The rescheduled dates are not known at the moment but should be in a couple of days.

Quite a disappointing news for fans – especially those who had booked flights, hotels and tickets to be among the firsts to discover Dolores O’Riordan’s new project – but somehow unsurprising.

We will keep you updated on this postponement as soon as we get some more news.

“Sciences Agrees” release postponed?!

April 29, 2016  |  6 Comments  |  by Camille  |  D.A.R.K., Dolores O'Riordan

Worrying news for fans as rumor has been circulating for a few days that D.A.R.K. debut album release could be postponed to a later date this year…

Cranberries World team had decided not to comment on this as there was no official sign that this would happen.

However, this morning, Amazon UK changed the release date to August 19, 2016 as you can see yourself on this page.

We’ll keep you updated on this unexpected and major postponement as soon as we’ll get more news during the upcoming hours/days, keep on checking our website!

Fans who pre-ordered the album will most probably receive an email from Pledge Music in the following hours/days to let them know when they can expect their album to be delivered, closer to August.

Thanks to Dan Steward who brought our attention to this fact.

EDIT [10:30am GMT]

Confirmed on iTunes.com (and iTunes France) as well for August 19th!!
Thanks to Arnaud for letting us know.

EDIT [11:37am GMT]
September 23 on Amazon Canada, Thanks Andrea!

“Science Agrees” promo CD surfaces

April 26, 2016  |  1 Comments  |  by Axl  |  D.A.R.K.

“Science Agrees” promo CD just appeared for the very first time on eBay. Seller is from Poland and opening bid is 200PLN plus shipping which makes about $50 plus shipping. It’s quite expensive but that’s the price to pay to hear the album before it is released and own a collector item.

Below is the first image of the CD. It is not really HQ, just enough to tell the cover art looks no different than the retail album should look. And about the CD itself, impossible to know for now even if there is a good chance that the retail version will be a little different.

Olé Koretsky and Andy Rourke from D.A.R.K. give first interview

April 20, 2016  |  Comments Off on Olé Koretsky and Andy Rourke from D.A.R.K. give first interview  |  by Axl  |  D.A.R.K.

Way Out Radio, an online Fanzine & Podcast, published “An interview with Andy Rourke, The Smiths”.
Even if not in the title Olé Koretsky was also interviewed! The Journalist Paula Frost met the 2 guys just a few days ago and they are mostly talking about the band JetLag/D.A.R.K.
Dolores was not interviewed but it is still very interesting to read.

2016.04.18 wayoutradio itw

The guys talk a little bit about their childhood and their musical influences, the first time they met and how they came to meet Dolores, why the name Jetlag was changed into D.A.R.K. (which indeed is their initials), the writing process, the rehearsals and the line up on tour (Olé on vocals and a little bit of guitar, Andy on bass, Dolores on vocals only, plus a drummer working with a sampler and another guitar player), their favorite D.A.R.K. song (The Moon) and of course The Smiths and a few more things. Nice!
