Writing for 6th Album Going Smoothly

The Cranberries Official Website put up a note today to inform readers that The Cranberries “are now back in full swing writing new music” to be eventually be used on the band’s next album. The Cranberries hope to record demos of the new material over the next few weeks. “After that the band will record the songs for their 6th album,” says the site.

The site also notes that there will likely be no live concert dates scheduled until the latter half of 2003. Weeks ago, drummer Fergal Lawler wrote that the band was considering a trip to the United States this spring. However, with this latest revelation, it seems that it won’t be a proper tour as such (that is, if the plans haven’t been changed entirely!).

Lastly, Dolores’s promise to clean out her closet for some famous bits of clothing hasn’t been forgotten (even if it is a bit too late for the original plan of a Christmas contest). The first item, the pair of thick-heeled boots worn in the “I Can’t Be With You” video, will be auctioned online. Proceeds will benefit Adi Roche’s (better known as the wife of U2’s Bono and Ireland’s unofficial “First Lady”) Chernobyl Children’s Project and Amnesty International, two charities that The Cranberries have actively supported in the past.
