A film as notably intense as The Passion of the Christ will likely rely heavily on the use of music to convey its dramatic moments. This is great news for those of us waiting to own all, or nearly all, of the music from the film…but bad news for those of us who had hoped to own Dolores O’Riordan’s contribution to the soundtrack on February 24th.
According to billboard.com, February 24th will feature the release of the film’s score – not the release of the film’s songs that were performed by various artists. All’s not lost, however, because billboard.com does state that Sony Music intends to release a “Music Inspired by The Passion of the Christ” album that will contain the multi-artist tracks, including [presumably] Dolores O’Riordan’s “Croatia”. According to Billboard, distribution for the multiartist CD is currently being finalized.
Of course only time can confirm Dolores’s work in the film and further release information for the second soundtrack. Big answers for inquiring minds, however, will be available and definite on February 25th, when the film opens in theaters everywhere.
