The Cranberries auction on Ebid.ie ended yesterday with a price tag of over $3000. In support of the Chernobyl Children’s Project and Amnesty International, The Cranberries donated the pair of shoes that Dolores wore in the Sam Bayer music video, “I Can’t Be With You”.
Yesterday, the shoes, along with an assortment of signed Cranberries memorabilia and CDs, went to Ebid’s high bidder, cranbmexfan, who was willing to spend €2,875 (roughly $3096 US) to become the auction’s winner. That may sound like a lot of money to spend on a pair of shoes; but viewers of The Cranberries’ “I Can’t Be With You” video know that these are no ordinary shoes. And better still, every penny of the high bidder’s payment will benefit both the Chernobyl Childrens Project and Amnesty International.
So congratulations to Cranbmexfan! And to the rest of us, remember that The Cranberries will be participating in more charitable auctions to come… and who knows what could be put up for grabs next! (Maybe… even… dare we suggest… a replica of the couch?)
