Croatia’s Radio101 today aired two absolutely stunning tracks named “Human Spirit” and “When We Were Young” from Dolores O’Riordan’s forthcoming album Are You Listening?
The forums received an unusually high volume of tra c during today’s broadcast. The DJ gave a special mention to ZG, saying, “Thanks to everyone who was with us tonight. Or, better, [Radio101] would like to say thanks to everyone around the world listening to 40 to 1 countdown, especially Zombieguide Forum. Hello guys! How is it? Big, big, big kisses and warm thoughts to you all around the world.”
“Human Spirit” is the softer of the two tracks, featuring a piano and whistle duet at the beginning that is backed by a shu ing drum droop.
“When We Were Young” is all rock and has huge potential to be a single. Especially shock-inducing are the forced trills at the end of the song that bear an unmistakable homage to the power of Sinead O’Connor’s “Troy” — quite possibly the very best we’ve heard yet from Dolores’s solo material.
At the end of the show, the DJ alluded to a song Dolores recorded on 2003’s Warwick Court demos called “Croatia”: “Hopefully Dolores won’t forget a song called ‘Croatia,’” he said.
