Dolores O’ Riordan – Are You Listening?

FORMER Cranberries singer Dolores O’ Riordan has kept a low profile since the band split up in 2003.

That and the fact this album is her solo debut is sure to attract some interest: After all, The Cranberries won acclaim early on for their ability to craft hypnotising tunes.

Then again, O’ Riordan also tended to leave fans boggled as to how a wee Irish lass could resort to yodelling to get the musical message across, most notably on their 1994 hit Zombie.

Not surprisingly, Are You Listening displays many of the O’ Riordan hallmarks.

The crunching quasi heavy metal riffs and over-the-top vocal delivery are here, but as the bulk of songs are better than average this ends up being a minor distraction.
