“South Dakota”, a docufiction movie about teenage pregnancy and abortion, will finally see a national release in the USA in October 2013… with some new music from Dolores!
Filmmaker Bruce Isacson confirmed to Cranberries World that 4 songs by Dolores will be featured in the movie: original versions of “Stupid” and “Apple Of My Eye” and brand new versions of The Cranberries’ “Empty” and “Dreams”, for which Dolores went back into studio to record them.
Dolores also contributed to the movie score told Isacson:
Dolores scored one of our sequences in the film, and she is credited as one of the film’s composers. Dolores and her husband Don Burton have been extremely supportive of our important film! I am so thankful for their continued encouragement.
The “South Dakota” movie project was first announced in 2009. The movie portrays two dramatic stories about unplanned pregnancies along with sound bites of passionate pro choice and pro life advocates. Film director explains:
I found that so many of the women, when they go into this crisis of an unwanted pregnancy, they don’t have enough information so they can arrive at an intelligent decision or what course of action to take. And that’s why I made the film. You know, I stayed neutral. I didn’t want to manipulate my audience with my own point of view
Check out below the movie trailer featuring a message from the Director and some footage from a screening back in 2009 in which you can see Dolores.
Note that the versions of “Dreams” and “Empty” in this footage are the 1993 and 1994 album versions, not the new ones.
