“No Need To Argue” blue vinyl: first images

July 17, 2018  |  Comments Off on “No Need To Argue” blue vinyl: first images  |  by Axl  |  The Cranberries

The first images of the limited edition “No Need To Argue” blue vinyl just appeared on the internet (on eBay). This is a new color made by Runt and now in stock and available on their website for $29.98
Not to be confused with the Clear & Blue version already released a few months ago.

It seems that this version replaces the Pink & Orange one supposed to be released on May 4, 2018 and which never saw the light. Indeed the old Pink & Orange page now displays this Blue vinyl.

“I Heart The Cranberries” – review, photos and videos

July 10, 2018  |  Comments Off on “I Heart The Cranberries” – review, photos and videos  |  by Webmaster  |  Dolores O'Riordan, The Cranberries

Back from Limerick where some members of the Cranberries World team were privileged and moved to be part of the “I Heart The Cranberries” concert at Dolans where Limerick city paid tribute to Dolores O’Riordan on July 5, 2018.

Dolans pub

Ros I Measc Lusanna An Chromchinn

As you may know, the event was organized by Limerick musician Emma Langford, who decided in January, a few days after sharing the stage with Noel Hogan at a charity event for a suicide and self-harm prevention center, that Limerick needed to honour Dolores memory: “after her tragic and untimely death I – among many, no doubt – wanted to make sure a tribute happened here in Dolores’ home town, and it had to be done right”.

All profits from the event went to Adapt House, a domestic violence support service, as well as Limerick Mental Health which was recommended to Emma by Noel Hogan himself as this is a cause he emphasized Dolores would care deeply about.

As announced in a statement from The Cranberries on March 9th, none of the band members were attending the concert at Dolans although they explained they were “touched and honored” that this tribute to the band and their music was taking place:

However, some of the band’s acquaintances attended, as pointed out by Hot Press who noticed that Niall Quinn, original member of The Cranberry Saw Us, was there.

The evening started with an instrumental version of “Zombie” performed by the duo of violinists Maria Ryan & Lucia MacPartlin.
Emma Langford then presented the event before giving the floor to The Cranberries fanclubs, with a small word from our team and a speech by our friends from Cranberries Italia, who, let’s recall, raised over €2,000 for Limerick Learning Hub – again, a project recommended by Noel Hogan – in order to give back to Dolores’ hometown the kindness Dolores gave to her fan community.
Emma was later joined on stage by Hannah Nic Gearailt and Sara Ryan to launch the gig with their performance of “When You’re Gone”, setting an emotional tone for the evening to come…
Watch the video below:

SETLIST & PERFORMERS:

PART 1:
01. Zombie (instrumental) – Maria Ryan, Lucia MacPartlin
02. When You’re Gone – Hannah Nic Gearailt, Sara Ryan, Emma Langford
03. Twenty One – Synead Toomey, Kayleigh O’Brien Music
04. No Need to Argue – Tracy Bruen
05. Dreaming My Dreams – Louise O’Flanagan, Sarah Croker Music
06. Sunday – Claire Heffernan, Hannah O’Brien
07. Yeat’s Grave – NIMF
08. Put Me Down – Jenny McMahon (DeLorean Suite)
09. Linger – The Brad Pitt Light Orchestra

PART 2:
10. Pretty – MZKA (Jane Fraser)
11. Animal Instinct – Roisin El Cherif
12. Why? – Susie Q
13. Salvation – Siân Brown Music
14. Ode To My Family – Grainne Hunt Music
15. Daffodil Lament – “The Cranberrinis” Jean McGlynn, Norma Lowney, Jessica Bray, Jean Wallace
16. Dreams – Niamh Farrell (Ham Sandwich)
17. Zombie – all artists

House band:
Drums: Shane Wixted
Bass: Lesley-Ann Halvey
Guitar: Eoin Culhane
Guitar: The Danny Lanham Trio
Strings: Strung (Maria Ryan & Lucia MacPartlin)

As shown above, the event was divided in two parts, first one focusing on soft songs with an emphasis on acoustic renditions of the songs as opposed to the second part that saw full band performances of the band’s hits – apart from a barbershop quartet performance of “Daffodil Lament”. Duration, approximately 150 minutes (including the 15/20 minutes break between two parts).

Thumbs up to all the artists for the work done on their arrangements, especially as we remind everyone that they were all volunteering their time for this tribute.
Some songs stood out from the artists’ reappropriation of the original Cranberries songs, such as NIMF’s electronica and ambient version of “Yeat’s Grave” or Jane Fraser’s rendition of “Pretty” sampling bits of an interview given by Dolores, “I Just wanna be Dolores”.

NIMF – Yeat’s Grave

MZKA (Jane Fraser) – Pretty

People will also remember Ann Blake (from The Brad Pitt Light Orchestra) who introduced “Linger” by telling the crowd of her experience singing at Dolores O’Riordan wedding with Don Burton back in July 1994, as Dolores had invited students from her former school Laurel Hill Coláiste – among whom Ann was – to perform for her big day. She was lucky enough to witness Dolores perform “Panis Angelicus” on this occasion.

The Brad Pitt Light Orchestra – Linger

Like a proper Cranberries concert, the gig ended with a fantastic rendition of “Dreams” by the ‘1994 Dolores look-alike’ Niamh Farrell who was later joined on stage by all artists to perform a final, powerful and very emotional version of “Zombie” which the crowd sang along at the top of their lungs to remind, “loud and clear”, how Irish people and worldwide fans LOVE this band.
Watch the video below:

Some cool pictures of the event taken by photographer Dolf Patijn have already been published, click here to see the whole 102-photos album posted on the Facebook account of www.ilovelimerick.com.

Suzie Q – Why?

Roisin El Cherif – Animal Instinct

All artists on stage – Zombie

Major thanks to Emma, the Dolans Pub and the Limerick LGBT Pride for giving life to this event and celebrating the life and music of Dolores O’Riordan & The Cranberries, fans are very grateful for this beautiful – and indeed cathartic – experience.

Also, special thanks to all the fans from Italy, Spain, Sweden, France and Cork who joined us for our preshow fan gathering!
Our memories are her legacy, let’s keep her alive, all together ❤

A bench in memory of pupil Dolores O’ Riordan

June 7, 2018  |  2 Comments  |  by Axl  |  Dolores O'Riordan, The Cranberries

Two days ago the Catholic Voluntary Secondary School for girls Laurel Hill Coláiste FCJ based in Limerick published on Facebook a photo of a bench they unveiled last week as a tribute to their former pupil Dolores O’ Riordan.

Our Comhairle na nDaltaí unveiled a bench in memory of our past pupil Dolores O’Riordan last week. It is placed in our 6th year garden with lyrics of her music to provide inspiration for years to come. Míle buíochas for such a beautiful and fitting tribute.

The bench features three lines in Gaeilge and English: a quote from the song “Ordinary Day” along with Dolores O’ Riordan’s name written in Irish as the school is a school where Irish is the medium of instruction.

1971 DOLORES NI RIORDAIN 2018
ALWAYS BE YOURSELF ALONG THE WAY
LIVING THROUGH THE SPIRIT OF YOUR DREAMS

We do not know yet whether the bench is in a private space reserved for students or if it’s accessible to all who’d like to come and visit. A great tribute, for sure!

Update on The Cranberries’ upcoming album recording

May 22, 2018  |  7 Comments  |  by Webmaster  |  The Cranberries

A month after The Cranberries have started recording their new album for which Dolores had already recorded vocals, it seems the band is currently putting the finishing touches and it should now be a matter of days before they’re done with this new record.

The recordings started on April 16th at Kore Studios, in London, where the band worked until May 4th.
Studio pics during this session interestingly show the use of a bass clarinet.

After a week break, the band came back one last time at Kore Studios on May 14th to add strings, and then moved on the following day to Stephen Street’s Bunker studio in the 13 studios complex in West London.

There, they were joined for a couple of days by Johanna Wiseley (Cranitch) who fans are familiar with as she’s been working with the band as backing singer/keyboard player on tour since 2012.

Johanna posted a photo on Instagram yesterday, stating that she had finished putting the backing vocals down, and confirmed on the occasion that this album should unsurprisingly be the “final” album.

Although listening to this record will be very difficult for most of us, fans, we’re feeling very thankful to the band and their crew who are devoting themselves to giving life to Dolores’ last tracks, as they feel this is “what [She] would have wanted“.

RARE AUDIO: Two Mile Inn, Limerick, 15 April 1993

May 11, 2018  |  1 Comments  |  by Webmaster  |  The Cranberries

Early years rarities, episode #2 from Alan’s collection!
Following the upload of his audio recording from 1991 concert at Limerick’s Parkway last February, here’s a second gem surfacing almost 25 years after it was recorded. Again, Alan recorded this one himself on his walkman back in 1993 at Two Mile Inn, Limerick.

Alan purposely chose not to stand at the front for this recording, as opposed to The Parkway, in order to try and get a better sound; he thus stood close to the FOH mixing desk. It remains an audience recording so the quality is pretty similar to the 1991 recording. The recording features the complete show, only a few seconds before the encore are missing as Alan had to flip the cassette, but there’s no song missing.

Tracklist:
01. Like You Used To
02. Pretty
03. Sunday
04. The Icicle Melts
05. Away
06. Linger
07. Reason
08. How
09. I Don’t Need
10. Put Me Down
11. I Will Always
12. Not Sorry
13. Waltzing Back
14. Dreams
15. Wanted
16. Zombie
17. Still Cant…
________________
18. Liar
19. False

Alan’s mastertape

What’s particularly striking on this recording is the never heard before early version of “Zombie”. Obviously this was one of the first time (maybe the very first time?) the song was played live in concert.
Dolores introduces the track simply mentioning it is “another new song, it’s called Zombie”.
The song does sound very similar to that we know, still it features some interesting differences:
“Zombie” is actually played quite fast, kinda like a 33rpm at the 45rpm speed.
Dolores sings alternative lyrics in the 2nd verse of the song “another mothers broken heart has hardly spoken”. Also, the line “with their tanks, and their guns, and their bombs” happens to be “with your tanks, and your guns, and your bombs” at that time.
One may note that Dolores doesn’t exactly sing as she does on the album version and the words “in your head” and the ultimate “Zombie” are for instance sung very softly compared to what we’re used to.

It’s funny to note that what will turn out to become The Cranberries biggest hit was barely applauded that night. Yet, the crowd, which as you can hear was very talkative on that night, does pause to pay attention during 3 to 4 particular songs, and “Zombie” is of them; definitely a good sign 😉

Thank you Alan, everyone can now listen to the earliest live version known to this day of the masterpiece “Zombie”. (The previous earliest version of the song was the Paris radio show “The Black Sessions” recorded on 3 May 1993).

The rest of the set also includes songs which were rarely played live after 1993 like “Away”, “I don’t Need”, “Reason” or “I will always”.
Most of the other classic songs played on that night sound very close to the album versions we’re all familiar with (as opposed to The Parkway show where songs rather sound very fresh and almost like demos than the final versions), which is not too surprising as The Cranberries first album was just a few weeks old at the time.
All in all, a great boot to listen to, enjoy it!!!

Everybody Else’s 25th anniversary album likely to be released mid September

May 2, 2018  |  4 Comments  |  by Webmaster  |  The Cranberries

As the May Bank Holiday weekend is getting closer, Todayfm published an audio interview of Noel Hogan last Monday, ahead of the talk he his to give with Stephen Street at VINYL festival in Dublin this Saturday.
Quite a moving interview, as this is the first time we hear one of the boys since Dolores’ passing.

Noel indeed chats to Muireann O’Connell, pleasantly coming back on the early days memories.

Asked about the 25th anniversary edition of “Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We?”, Noel says the album should now be released around mid September!

As for The Cranberries new album due for release in 2019, Noel says there are still 3 weeks of recording coming in London, where the band has been for 2 weeks already.
He explains the album will be a combination of some tracks he had started writing with Dolores last summer, with some others she had already written herself before.
The lads are thus turning these demos on laptop into proper Cranberries song as they feel these tracks can make a “strong enough album” and that this is “what Dolores would have wanted“.

Again, our team is sending them all our support as this must obviously not be easy.

It’s great to know they are surrounded by the “original team” from the early days to do this all together.

We love you guys!

The lads back in studio to record next Cranberries album

April 17, 2018  |  10 Comments  |  by Axl  |  The Cranberries

The Cranberries are in studio this week to record the next (and possibly final?) Cranberries album. These last 24 hours, they published a few photos on their Instagram account:

    “So we start the album”

    Mike

“Back in the studio” – (Noel with a new tattoo)

    “Day 2 of recording”

Let’s note the band was in studio last week as well (or maybe just Noel?), at the famous Abbey Road studios in London, to remaster the “Everybody Else…” album for the 25th Anniversary edition that should be released later this year.

This week, the three of them gathered at Kore Studios, in London too, to record a brand new Cranberries album. For those who are wondering how they’ll be dealing with vocals without Dolores, please keep in mind the last interview Noel Hogan gave to RollingStone: “I spoke to Dolores last Friday and she was great. We spoke about getting back to work – recording and new tracks we were working on. She sent some of those tracks to me by email on Sunday morning”, as well as the band’s recent statement: “we will also be completing the recording of a new studio album as previously announced, which we also started last year and for which Dolores had already recorded the vocals.

Everyone can easily imagine how painful going through these tracks must be for the lads. Like many fans who are supporting them through social media, we’re sending love and courage to Noel, Mike and Fergal.

We love you guys, In It Together!

Possibly the earliest The Cranberry Saw Us photo ever! (UPDATED)

April 14, 2018  |  Comments Off on Possibly the earliest The Cranberry Saw Us photo ever! (UPDATED)  |  by Axl  |  The Cranberries

*****VERY RARE*****
Do you recognize those teenagers, how old were they?
Do the math, this photo of the foursome The Cranberry Saw Us was published on 27 January 1990 in a local newspaper called “Limerick Tribune” along with a review of their very first demo cassette, “Anything”.
The singer at the time was Niall Quinn, he is on the very left and you probably know the names of the others. One of the earliest photos of the band ever… if not the earliest(?)

Niall Quinn (16), Mike Hogan (16), Fergal Lawler (18), Noel Hogan (just turned 18)

The complete Limerick Tribune article is available on the magazine section or directly by clicking here. This is the earliest article about The Cranberry Saw Us known to this day.

Thanks to Sue for this gem!

UPDATE – APRIL 15

Niall Quinn posted on Twitter a few more details about this photoshoot, the only one The Cranberry Saw Us (with him as singer) did:

What songs for Everybody Else’s 25th Anniversary album?

April 12, 2018  |  16 Comments  |  by Axl  |  The Cranberries

As you may have already seen on socials, earlier today The Cranberries posted a video and a photo on Instagram from the famous Abbey Road Studios in London where they are currently remastering “Everybody Else…” for the album’s 25th anniversary.

As a reminder the classic album counts 12 tracks:

1.  I Still Do
2.  Dreams
3.  Sunday
4.  Pretty
5.  Waltzing Back
6.  Not Sorry
7.  Linger
8.  Wanted
9.  Still Can’t…
10. I Will Always
11. How
12. Put Me Down

and the “Complete Sessions” album released in 2002 added 6 more tracks:

13.   Reason
14.   Them
15.   What You Were
16.   Liar
17.   Pretty (Prêt-à-Porter Movie Remix)
18.   How (Radical Mix)

Let’s note the band earlier mentioned they would be including some unreleased tracks and other bonus material from the era on this anniversary edition of the album. The fans already know of 5 unreleased songs from this period, thanks to bootleg recordings, as some of these were played a few times live in concert in the early years:

A IOSA
FALSE
LIKE YOU USED TO
SAME OLD STORY
SERIOUS

The question is… have all these songs been recorded in studio back then?
And what about some more unknown songs we would never have heard about, is there at least one or two somewhere?
Could the 25th Anniversary Album be an ultimate double CD/LP including all those 23 or more songs?
Time will tell… but today, the remastering has just started and it’s a bit of a nice news at this difficult time!

TMZ published on their website and YouTube a voicemail audio message Dolores left for label executive Dan Waite on 15 January 2018 at 1:12 AM (GMT) to let him know how Bad Wolves version of Zombie “sounds fucking terribly good“.

Everyone knows TMZ and the sensationalism side, that’s why they’re surfacing this and writing “The Final Voicemail”. The final voicemail, this we can’t really know but for sure some of the very last words said by Dolores just a few hours before she was found dead. Very moving or very disrespectful, up to you!

Dolores O’ Riordan’s inquest removed from schedule

April 3, 2018  |  10 Comments  |  by Webmaster  |  Dolores O'Riordan

Irish Mirror just announced this morning that “Dolores O’ Riordan’s long-awaited inquest that was due to start today in court has now been removed from schedule”

They add that

The inquest into the death of the Irish star had originally opened five days after she was found dead, but was adjourned until Tuesday April 3 so the Coroner could await the results of medical tests.

However, an announcement from the coroner’s court revealed there will be no hearing today and that an inquest date is yet to be set.

No reason has been given for the change.

They remind that Dolores was

“staying at a hotel in central London when on Monday 15 January she was found unresponsive in her room.
The London Ambulance Service was contacted and verified her death at the scene.
Subsequently the Met Police attended and they determined the death to be non-suspicious.”

The album “No Need To Argue” will be reissued on colored vinyl again and again. Two more colors are coming: “White” and “Pink & Orange”. One color really makes sense and one really doesn’t…

Still made by the label Plain, both versions will be released on 4 May 2018 and do not seem to be limited. A possible oversight (?) as all previous NNTA colored vinyl reissues were limited.

Click here to preorder the White version.
Click here to preorder the Pink & Orange version.

As usual on runtshop.com, price is $29.98 (each) including shipping for USA. Worldwide shipping is available for a few extra dollars.

Limerick official book of condolence presented to Dolores O’ Riordan’s family

March 29, 2018  |  4 Comments  |  by Webmaster  |  Dolores O'Riordan

The Limerick Leader reports this morning that official book of condolence signed by 16,000 persons was presented to the Dolores family yesterday in Limerick.

Mayor Stephen Keary with family members – Photos: Adrian Butler

Dolores’ mother, Eileen, joined by Dolores’ brothers, Terry, Joe, and Donal with his wife Stephanie, and Dolores’ niece Katie, told the newspaper:

“I feel so happy that the people of Limerick were so good, and from all over Ireland and the world. I can’t believe the reaction from everybody, the love that poured out, and the support from everybody”

She also commented:

“Getting this book is another step forward. It’s hard, but it’s another step in moving on. I can’t believe that all those names are there, all those people. It’s at home I’ll be thinking of it. And I will read every one of them in my own time”

[…]

“I read some of the letters, and everyone says how she helped them through the dark moments in their lives. I really feel she’s happy now. I go to her grave, but I don’t find anything there. I feel that her spirit is around all the time. She was that type of person anyway, she would come into the room, even as a child, and she would grab the attention.”

Mayor Stephen Keary explained this was the biggest book of condolence that was ever presented by the authority.

Cranberries Italia invites fans to support the Learning Hub Limerick in memory of Dolores

March 25, 2018  |  3 Comments  |  by Webmaster  |  Dolores O'Riordan

Our friends from the Italian fan community of The Cranberries are calling out for fans to honour Dolores O’ Riordan by supporting a cause dear to heart.

Indeed, Cranberries Italia is uniting with the organisation Learning Hub Limerick that provides a safe, welcoming and stimulating learning environment for youngsters to reach their full potential. The organisation works with local providers of educational services, families and young people to develop high-level resolutions in responses to situations of educational disadvantage and school drop-out.

As we know, Dolores has shown on more than one occasion how children mattered to her, emphasising the reality in war zones, speaking of children suffering and sickness or environmental injustices.

Cranberries Italia is thus encouraging fans to leave a trace in Dolores city, as a symbol of our passion for her art and generous personality, by supporting the young musical talents of Limerick.
They are raising funds on the below link, which will be running up to June 20th, in order to help Learning Hub Limerick to finance, over the summer, an instructive musical program for the children with a series of songwriting workshops: https://www.produzionidalbasso.com/project/italia-loves-limerick-due-comunita-si-incontrano-in-memoria-di-dolores-oriordan/

The Cranberries World team is happy to support this initiative and encourages everyone to get involved.

Another Limerick Legend – Dolores O’ Riordan (1971-2018)

Beautiful tribute to Dolores O’ Riordan in Limerick tonight. “Zombie” blasted out as first tune after fireworks and Dolores’s image projected on King John’s Castle in the heart of medieval Limerick City. For sure a great way to end Saint Patrick’s weekend.

“Gold” NNTA vinyl reissue + “Clear Blue” & “Clear Pink” in stock

March 16, 2018  |  1 Comments  |  by Axl  |  The Cranberries

And here comes another colored vinyl reissue of the album “No Need To Argue”. This time GOLD. It’s a “Urban Outfitters” exclusive and available on their U.S. and Canadian stores only.
The vinyl will be released on March 30, 2018 and you can already preorder it for $29.90 + shipping.

No official details about the label for now however, according to an eBay seller, the item would be limited to 1,500 and made by Plain Recordings, the label who already released 7 other colored vinyls of this very album.

NNTA gold vinyl

Still about Urban Outfitters, the shop, which is more like a fashion & clothing store than a record store, is also selling another (and exclusive?) version of The Cranberries debut album on vinyl. Still their U.S. and Canadian stores only.
Weirdly enough, their title and description are announcing the regular 12-track album when their photo shows the “Complete Sessions” version, which would be a first on vinyl. So where’s the mistake… time will tell! Release date is April 3, 2018 and you can already preorder it for $29.98 + shipping.

[EDIT APRIL 4th: this is not the complete sessions, just the regular Analog Spark vinyl.]

And last, earlier than expected the vinyl reissues “Clear & Blue” and “Clear & Pink” by Plain Recordings are now in stock (possibly for a week now) and first customers are receiving their copies these days. Below the first images found on eBay  for the Clear & Pink LP

The interview takes place on the band’s return from their first and successful American tour, and follows their Limerick and Dublin performances (Dec 17th and 18th) before the Christmas break.

The Cranberries interviewed in June 2017 for Polish TV

March 9, 2018  |  5 Comments  |  by Axl  |  The Cranberries

You may remember the behind the scenes photo posted on Instagram on July 21, 2017 by Polish journalist Piotr Pasztaleniec. He also wrote “I finally met Dolores, soon in tv…” but we have had no news since!

It seems, though, that the interview was indeed broadcast on Polish TV, on TVP2. We have no details about the exact date of broadcast nor the name of the TV show, the only thing we know is the interview was given in June 2017.

Fortunately, we found out today that the interview was published 2 days following Dolores’ passing on the website pytanienasniadanie.tvp.pl, and in HD 1080!

More on the “I Heart Cranberries” tribute event at Dolans

March 9, 2018  |  2 Comments  |  by Webmaster  |  Dolores O'Riordan, The Cranberries

Both Limerick Leader and Hot Press have recently spoken of the “I Heart Cranberries” tribute event due to take place at Dolans, Limerick on July 5th in aid of Adapt House and Limerick mental health service.

More than 20 artists are to be announced in the upcoming days, but Hot Press has already revealed some of them: “Gráinne Hunt, The Brad Pitt Light Orchestra, Jane Fraser, Niamh Farrell, Roisin El Cherif, Anne Rynne and Susie Q to name but a handful

Singer and songwriter Emma Langfort, who’s organising the event, explained to Limerick Leader:

When Dolores died, everyone was shocked and saddened and we all wanted to do something to pay tribute to her

I thought it would be fantastic to hold a massive event that pulled people together from all over the country and that also gave people a chance to come from elsewhere in the world to visit Dolores’ hometown.

I dropped Noel Hogan (Dolores’ Craberries bandmate) a message and asked if there was a cause that was close to her heart and he said a mental health organistion would have meant a lot to her.”

Ticket are now on sale on Dolans.ie
[EDIT – 9 March – 2:00pm UTC]  SOLD OUT!!!

“Everybody Else Is Doing It…” special 25th anniversary edition album to be released later this year

March 7, 2018  |  3 Comments  |  by Webmaster  |  The Cranberries

The Cranberries just published on their website cranberries.com as well as their socials a new moving statement announcing that they were initially planning on releasing a special 25th anniversary of their first album “Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We?” this month through Universal Music.

The project has been understandably put on hold since Dolores’ passing, but the band has decided to finish what they had started with Dolores, and get this special edition out “later this year”.

This will feature remastered versions of the tracks we know, along with unreleased material and bonus material from this early 90s era of their debut album.

The band also uses the occasion to remind fans they’re planning on completing the recording of the new album which they had been working on during the past months, and for which Dolores had already recorded the vocals.

The CW Team would like to send Noel, Mike and Ferg all their love and support as we presume this won’t be easy for them.

We love you guys!

A Cranberries mural on Landmark building wall in Limerick?

March 7, 2018  |  2 Comments  |  by Webmaster  |  Dolores O'Riordan, The Cranberries

Yesterday, the Limerick Leader published an article to let the people know that Limerick City and County Council would like to hear on everyone’s idea for a new mural/painting to be placed at one of the city centre’s key spot.

The local authority is seeking ideas from members of the public ahead of commissioning a painting for the gable wall of Speaker’s Corner at the junction of the Hyde Road and the Lower Carey’s Road.

While the building itself has been bought by the Mid-West Simon Community and is being converted into apartments, the Council has been given permission for the mural.

In particular, designers at the Council are seeking ideas for the mural which will have a connection to its location and history.

The mural, to be visible from the People’s Park, will be designed and painted by Bold Details […]

Maria Donoghue, the executive architect with Limerick City and County Council said: “This is a great opportunity for the people of Limerick to get involved in creating new artwork for their city”.

The mural will be unveiled at the beginning of the summer if weather permits it.

While ideas are to be submitted by email to maria.donoghue@limerick.ie or on Twitter using the following hashtag #SpeakersMural, some people are already suggesting to go for a Cranberries/Dolores O’ Riordan tribute.

If, like us, you feel like supporting this idea, we invite you to email or tweet the local authorities to let them know that The Cranberries deserve this spot.

Let’s make it happen #TheCranberriesMural #SpeakersMural !!!

“No Need To Argue” purple vinyl reissue, first images

March 2, 2018  |  Comments Off on “No Need To Argue” purple vinyl reissue, first images  |  by Axl  |  The Cranberries

The limited “No Need To Argue” purple vinyl reissue has been released and shipped last week. Some customers just received their copy and first images appeared on the internet, for example on eBay or Instagram. Let’s note that all those colored vinyl reissues are making debat regarding the sound quality. Here is what Instagram user neemus says about this purple LP:

[…] And even though I should’ve known better, even though PLAIN’s reputation is real, I went and ordered it. *Sigh* This thing sounds awful. Terrible. So compressed and lifeless, mp3 sounds better. Zombie has that fantastic bass line and unfortunately you can’t even enjoy it. They went straight from CD without even bothering to tweak the mix, yet again. FAIL

Zucchero has started his “Wanted Italian Tour 2018” last Friday in Zurich, Switzerland.

The Italian singer, who as you know was a friend of Dolores and shared the stage with her a couple of times in the past, published a message on 15 January to express how shocked he was over the passing of Dolores.

We find out today, through a video of yesterday’s concert, that Zucchero is paying tribute on this new tour by playing a beautiful rendition of the song ‘Puro Amore” featuring some pictures of Dolores on the screen.
