One more date in France on The Cranberries summer tour

February 25, 2016  |  1 Comments  |  by Camille  |  The Cranberries

The Cranberries have just been announced to play La Foire aux Vins d’Alsace on August 12, 2016.
This festival is located in the East of France in the city of Colmar (very close to Germany).

2016.02.25 TC Colmar 1

The band already played there in August 2010 sharing the bill with a band named Gotan Project. It was the last show in Europe in 2010 and there was a big power failure during The Cranberries set. Fans still remember this particular show as the band had to skip a lot of songs to end the show on time when the power returned. Let’s hope this time fate will be better !

Tickets go on sale on March 4th at 9:00 AM (UTC) on the website of the festival.

Thanks to Stephan for the tip.

BREAKING: A couple of albums coming out!!! (2 UPDATES)

February 24, 2016  |  10 Comments  |  by Axl  |  D.A.R.K., Dolores O'Riordan, The Cranberries

An online article of the Independent.ie reports a few words Dolores said outside court after the sentencing:

I don’t really have much to say. I’m glad it’s over and I want to thank the doctors who helped me to get back my health mentally.

I’m feeling very good today, very positive about this upcoming year. I have a couple of albums coming out and I’m going to go back to work.

Is Dolores talking about The Cranberries + JetlagNYC + the hypothetical collaboration with Eric Alexandrakis? Time will tell but 2016 will be great for sure.

UPDATE 4:50 PM (GMT)

Sara from CranberriesItalia (yes still her, you should work for CW Sara!) is watching the Irish TV RTE1 and reports the following: “They’re after talking about it on rte1. She briefly spoke to the reporter and said she’s about to release 2 records, one with the Chamber Orchestra and another with a project called Dark.”
QUITE UNEXPECTED !!

Rectification: Sara heard it on RTE1 Radio, not TV.

Source: RTE1 Radio

UPDATE 5:10 PM (GMT)

JetlagNYC becomes DARK
The Facebook page of JetlagNYC just changed its name into DARK.
This explains the comment of Sara and it’s now obvious that the 1st of the 2 records Dolores is talking about will be the one with JetlagNYC… I mean DARK. The second will be something unexpected with the Chamber Orchestra. She already played with them on the New Year’s Eve concert in Limerick (2013).
So what about The Cranberries album? Mystery…

Bury The Hatchet double LIVE album at Concert Live??

February 19, 2016  |  2 Comments  |  by Axl  |  The Cranberries

The website Concert Live just published a new page where you can pre-order “Bury The Hatchet double live album”. Release date is March 18th.

2016.02.19 concertlive BTHLIVE

This probably is a mistake from Concert Live. Those guys often make mistakes, it is not the first time and it probably won’t be the last. For example see this past news where they announced unreleased recordings when it was not!

This 2LP version of Bury The Hatchet must probably be the recent Deluxe Edition 180 grams released last January in USA exclusively which would be now available for the first time in Europe. Otherwise if it really is a LIVE version of BTH this record would be completely unreleased & new.
Probability: 1% (or should I say 0% !!)

UPDATE FEB.20

The word “live” was removed today! No more details if it is the 180 grams edition, but it sure is.

Concert in Lublin, Poland confirmed as first gig of the tour

February 16, 2016  |  10 Comments  |  by Camille  |  The Cranberries

According to a Polish webzine, Rock Magazyn, the band will start the 2016 European tour in Lublin, Poland.

As opposed to the dates that have already been announced yet, this one will not be a festival performance. The band will indeed play in a stadium (Lublin Arena) on June 3rd.

We’ll update this post as soon as we find an official confirmation for this.

UPDATE 2:00 PM (GMT+1)

This piece of news appears to be widely shared by different Polish websites such as RMF.fm and Wyborcza.pl, which tends to confirm that this is definitely official.

UPDATE 2:20 PM (GMT+1)

Polish fan Milosz B. sent us a link towards official Lublin Arena website, that comes as a final confirmation for this performance.

Thanks a lot to all of you, guys, who help us gathering information!

UPDATE FEB.18

Now confirmed by Noel Hogan on his Tumblr account.

New dates on 2016 Summer tour…

February 12, 2016  |  3 Comments  |  by Camille  |  The Cranberries

For those who follow us on Facebook, we posted a link towards a Polish article yesterday about a possible date in Lublin. A Polish fan, Krzysztof S. informed us that this is only a rumor at this stage.

However, Italian fan Sara L. found out a ticket link this morning showing that the band is to play festival Cognac Blues Passion in France on July 7, 2016.
This is confirmed on the festival website.

Let’s note the band was to play this festival the exact same day on July 7, 2012, though the band cancelled their whole summer shows, including this date.

Ils reviennent au centre de l’actualité avec un nouvel album prévu pour cette année et cela ne peut que réserver de bonnes surprises !

Translation: They’re back in the spotlight with a new album to be released this year, good news in store !

Today this text was removed which possibly means it was a mistake… or THE big news revealed too early ! Below the new page in French (as Neuchâtel is located on the French speaking side of Switzerland)

Although no official statement has been made yet, we can nonetheless expect the band to tour Europe this summer as Swiss festival Festi’Neuch just announced its line up this morning, featuring The Cranberries who are to play there on Thursday June 9th.

More news coming up during the day, keep checking our website!

UPDATE at 3:20PM (GMT)

Now confirmed on the official Facebook of The Cranberries, still nothing on the official website still displaying “News coming soon”

UPDATE at 5:00PM (GMT)

The Limerick Leader published a great article that sums things up pretty well, reminding readers of the new publishing partnership with Warner/Chappell Music UK that Noel & Dolores signed in April 2015, and quoting the interview the band gave to “Coffee with a sign painter” last July.

Oldies but goldies… (UPDATED)

January 27, 2016  |  12 Comments  |  by Axl  |  The Cranberries

The Cranberries fans are still waiting for news from the official Cranberries website still displaying “News coming soon”.  Well, the band might be waiting for Dolores’ judgement (handed down on February 24) before making any announcement.

In the meantime a lot of old rare photos appeared (or re-appeared on better quality) on the internet. Some of them direclty posted by The Cranberries on their official Facebook and some others found by dedicated fans always searching the internet day after day. So thank you to all for these gems!

And last but not least Sara from CranberriesItalia found an instagram video (15sec only!) of Dolores singing Linger in an Irish pub in Killarney, May 2015. It is a 1-acoustic-guitar version. The guy playing with her is unknown for now. Possibly just someone who knew the song and was hanging in the pub at this time.
And as Sara says : “Maybe the only case in which Linger sung in a pub can’t be defined as cover”

Noel Hogan will share some Cranberries news soon (2 UPDATES)

December 30, 2015  |  11 Comments  |  by Axl  |  D.A.R.K., The Cranberries

Noel Hogan:

To all asking….
Very soon I will have Cranberries news.
Happy New Year.

Breaking news tonight posted by Noel himself on his twitter account and except a few fans who will always say I knew it, I felt it, I saw it in my crystal ball etc… his words were totally unexpected for most people.

His short message spread the internet like rarely before and every fans started to imagine what the surprise could be. Naturally the first idea concerns a band reunion to make a new album and/or a new tour.
The word reunion has no really sense as the Crans never officially nor unofficially split. Anyways!!
This “reunion” is probably the most expected thing by the fans and is also one of the hardest to believe (for now) regarding the past months/years:
After the end of the Roses Tour 3 years ago in December 2012 a lot of things happened, band members returned to their families and side projects naturally appeared. To name a few: The Pigtown Fling and other Limerick City of Culture projects for Noel and JetLagNYC, Like A Puppet Show and a possible 3rd solo album for Dolores.
Not to mention major upheavals and revelations concerning her private life: divorce from husband, air rage incident, sexually abused when she was a child, trial, new lover…

All these things don’t argue for a reunion soon as many things are still on the process and we have to remember words recently said by Noel: “The Cranberries is such a big thing, we have to lead it at a time when we can all focus on that and not have kind of other things going on at the same time to make everyone happy”.

Well, who knows, life is full of surprises sometimes and The Cranberries reunion could still happen tomorrow… but what could it be if not a reunion?

Some say it could simply concern a new release. Like Beneath The Skin on Bluray HD or more LP’s reissues or it could be a new record made of old stuffs like B-sides, rare studio or live tracks, or even another greatest hits…
Some more people say it might concern a collaboration / soundtrack / film project.
But it might be something completely fresh and new as well.
Do you have any idea? Please tell us.

For now no one really knows.
The surprise is total.

2016 might be great.

Happy New Year !

UPDATE
Dolores was supported for the hearing by her mother Eileen, one of her brothers and Olé Koretsky. She was dressed all in black and wearing black sunglasses on her arrival at the courthouse.

O’Riordan’s solicitor Bill O’Donnell did not contest any of the evidence given to the court and said the marriage break-up put Dolores under huge emotional stress. She was going through a very difficult time having recently separated from her husband of 20 years. She moved to New York City and hadn’t seen her children for two months who live in Canada and was living out of a suitcase in New York City.

The court was told the incident began shortly before landing when O’Riordan’s behaviour became erratic and later as the plane came in to land in Shannon when she got out of her seat and tried to open the overhead luggage bins. The captain called in airport police to meet the plane.

O’Riordan twice tried to flee custody after being arrested at the airport, once from an ambulance and once while in a patrol car. Garda Shane Dawson revealed that the singer managed to free herself of one handcuff and forced open the door of a Garda car while he wrote up his notes on the airport apron. Airport police believed her behaviour was irrational but could not identify an explanation.

Mr O’Donnell said that there was no intention by Dolores to commit the actions on the day and she doesn’t remember what fully occurred. He said that she has no previous convictions, had travelled around the world with her career since she was 18 and never had an incident on a plane before November last year. O’Riordan was suffering hypomania, sleep deprivation and paranoia at the time of the incident.

Dolores admitted four offences including assault and obstructing a Garda. The lawyer said the singer is remorseful and regrets the incident and offered apologies to all those affected.

Judge Patrick Durcan ordered O’Riordan to write letters of apology to all those affected in the incident while he considers sentencing. He said : “It is important that the victims of crime know that the perpetrator apologises for the crime that was committed.”

Judge Patrick Durcan adjourned the case for mention to the January to fix a date for sentence.
The assault charges O’Riordan admitted can result in up to 6 months in jail or a maximum fine of €1850
The case will be mentioned in Ennis District Court on January 20.

O’Riordan left the court grounds in a blacked-out off-road vehicle without commenting.

The Ultimate Live Collection: The wait is over

November 4, 2015  |  2 Comments  |  by Axl  |  The Cranberries

After more than 3 months the wait is finally over.
The boxsets have been shipped last week as promised by Concert Live and some have been received.
This is a large box (29 x 23 x 12cm) with magnet closure.
The color is a clear allusion to The Cranberries and is a great choice. Don’t pay attention to photos below, they don’t do justice to the exact color.

tulc1
Merry Christmas

Inside you can find 5 live albums recorded on the 2010 Reunion Tour:

  • Palacio Vistalegre, Madrid – 12/03/2010
  • Halle Tony Garnier, Lyon – 21/03/2010
  • Amsterdam Music Hall, Amsterdam – 23/03/2010
  • Columbiahalle, Berlin – 27/03/2010
  • Royal Albert Hall, London – 31/03/2010

Once opened and the wrapping material removed, the box seems it bit (too?) large for only 5 albums.

tulc3

tulc4
The artwork is similar to the one used in the multi-other pressings already released.
This time the inner picture of the band is reversed. Which one is the correct one, probably this new version.

tulc5Here below the difference between 2 London albums.
(The different colors on cd’s are only due to the flash, there ‘s no difference!)

tulc7

The back cover of the new version. Nothing really changed there except the catalog number.

tulc6

CW definitely have to complete The Cranberries discography one day to compare all the versions.
Quite a lot of work to do and those live albums by Concert Live are not the easiest part.

tulc2
Maybe the reason of this quite empty and too large box is to fit all of their different versions. Genius!
A great box and a great item to own if you are a serious collector.
Still available on their website for £30 plus shipping.

“La Fine” full instrumental demo periscoped by Eric Alexandrakis

October 22, 2015  |  4 Comments  |  by Axl  |  Dolores O'Riordan

Eric Alexandrakis likes to tease his fans like nobody else. He definitely is a master at that and this will probably irritate a lot of people who just missed it. Today he decided to let anyone hear a complete demo version of La Fine on his periscope. As you probably know La Fine is one of the song featuring Dolores O’Riordan. For now Eric only periscoped an instrumental demo so to this day it is impossible to know if Dolores already recorded her vocals or not.
If you don’t know periscope yet it is an unlimited time video app. Users can live broadcast anything they like as long as they want and sometimes videos can be watched again as a replay.
Unfortunately La Fine has no replay.
The video Eric just broadcasted was black screen and we could only hear the audio. The song is approximately 4 minutes long. He broadcasted it twice as some people who missed the first broadcast asked for a repeat. Some of you managed to record it and emailed us the file but for copyright reasons and also to respect Eric and his collaborators work we can not broadcast it here. Sorry for that.
Ask Eric directly again, maybe he will accept another replay. It is worth it!

Ultimate Live Collection Boxset

These past days we’ve had quite a few messages and emails from fans worried as they had not received their item. They also were complaining about the lack of communication of Concert Live and were wondering if any other people were in the same case.

Hi,

Kind Regards,

Eric Alexandrakis just revealed today via his Twitter and Facebook accounts the release of “Like A Puppet Show”, a brand new project in collaboration with the actor John Malkovich and featuring a lot of artists such as Yoko Ono and Sean Lennon, OMD, Efterklang, Placebo, The Dandy Warhols, Blondie’s Chris Stein, The Cranberries’ Dolores O’ Riordan and more.

cddaefdd It’s a 11-track vinyl and it will be out for the next record store day/Black Friday event on November 27 followed by two more releases to retailers and direct to consumers via the web for the Christmas holidays and “won’t be available on iTunes” said Eric Alexandrakis yesterday on twitter!
Considered by Eric as “Super cool, and never been done before in such a way” the project is offically described as various remixes of John Malkovich reading an interpretation of Plato.
Sounds kinda weird at first!
Concerning Dolores she ‘s done the last track called “Cryopian D (Mixed by Dolores O’Riordan)”. For now it’s probably too early to know exactly what it is but if it’s in the same spirit as the track called “Cryoblue Cheese Ο (Mixed by Ric Ocasek)” that you can listen on the Pitchfork’s page, there are very few chances to hear our favorite rock star singing (or maybe just a little?!) on the “track” or “reading track”, “remix”, “interpretation”, “effort” or whatever it is.

A lot of Dolores fans will/might be disappointed to learn about this project as most were expecting the release of the “Electrons” LP where she is supposed to sing at least on one track. The fault is probably Eric’s who during the past 16 months was quite active on social networks and posted a few teasers that CW always tried to relay and among them, musical excerpts (instrumental only) and a partial visual of the possible LP with Dolores:

These last days things became very serious. On September 14, Eric Alexandrakis posted a message:
“Get ready steady for a cool announcement on 9/17”.

Then the Spanish fansite DO’RSpain asked a question in a very smart way:
“Hmmm… as cool as the weather in Ireland?”

At this point if you follow Eric on the internet you probably know he is a nice guy and most of the time replies to people. So the question got a reply:
“Cooler…with a touch of Ireland”

As this answer exactly matched to that was known of the Electrons project, fans from the 4 corners of the globe quite immediately concluded it would be the announcement of this very LP and thought the release day was close.

On September 17 and a few hours before the supposed announcement Eric was… let’s say playing with fans (some said torturing) posting a countdown:
“..4……….3………..2……….1………..”

and even:
“…..1/2….”

To finally reply to fans who were saying Come on Eric it’s time now. It is Sept 17. Please tell us. Etc… :
“We’ve delayed it a day just to keep the torture going:)”

For sure an answer quite familiar to all The Cranberries/Dolores O’Riordan fans!
Then Eric edited his original message on Facebook into:
“Get ready steady for a cool announcement on 9/18”

and continued to reply to questions the whole evening / night assuring it was worth the wait:
“Let’s hear what you all think it entails. You’ll either be elated, or terribly disappointed.”
“It’s super cool, and never been done before in such a way.”
“It’s F*CKING AWESOME”

Today, September 18, the wait is over and it is not the Electrons LP. Instead, a John Malkovitch and collaborators project that nobody could have ever imagined. What will be Dolores’ fans reactions, will “Like A Puppet Show” be interesting, good, bad, sucks, anybody will debate about that now and will definitely know on November 27 when the LP is out but one thing is for sure “Never been done before”.

Like a Puppet Show:

Trial over alleged air-rage adjourned as Dolores is receiving medical treatment

September 2, 2015  |  Comments Off on Trial over alleged air-rage adjourned as Dolores is receiving medical treatment  |  by Axl  |  Dolores O'Riordan

Again the information come from The Irish Times first. Their article reveals Dolores is receiving medical treatment these days and can’t come to the Court.
The case will be back before Ennis District Court on December 16th for a plea to be entered or a date for a hearing to be set, the court was told.

My client is presently [sic] receiving ongoing medical treatment and presently she’s receiving residential treatment, hence her absence from court”

If the person is having treatment then I think we should facilitate that. Judge Patrick Durcan agreed to the adjournment.

According to High Court records the dispute between Noel and Dolores has ended and a motion to strike out the case was finalised this august. (apparently it was in July, see update below)

An article published today in the newspaper The Irish Mail just revealed it. The legal action was initiated by Dolores against Noel in 2013 and it has never been clear what the dispute was about and don’t expect to learn more with this short article.
Anyway, that’s good news!!

Thanks to Sara from Cranberries Italia for finding the article

UPDATE AUG.31

A new article published on August 31st in the Limerick Leader gives more details :

A high court action taken by Ms O’Riordan against band mate and song writing partner Noel Hogan, has been struck out. The high court proceedings were filed in October 2013, with the Cause of Action in the filing listed as a ‘declaration’. A motion to strike out the action was made on July 13 of this year, and was finalised three days later. The matter, which neither Cranberries star has ever publicly commented on, was adjourned nine times this year when it came before the court, before the motions were made to strike it out in July.

The Cranberries really are wild young things!

July 20, 2015  |  2 Comments  |  by Axl  |  The Cranberries

She has the voice of a saint stuck in a glass harp while being pelted with ice cubes by vicious clangers.

Their shyness is not only painful, but infectious too.

(…) it’s even more embarassing to watch because they’re so shamingly perfect!

These are the most beautiful high notes you’ll ever get to hear outside of La Scala

Those words belong to Sally Margaret Joy and were published in the Melody Maker on 13 July 1991. She went to see The Cranberries live in concert in a pub called The Old Trout in Windsor (UK) on 28 June 1991 and her concert review is one of the earliest review known to this day.

It may be very possible to find a few earlier articles/reviews inside rare local newspapers or fanzines but her article might definitely be one of the very first about The Cranberries published in a mainstream musical media.

Full review available on the dedicated concert page here.

Brand new interview of The Cranberries

July 15, 2015  |  4 Comments  |  by Axl  |  The Cranberries

Yesterday and totally out of the blue appeared on the internet a brand new 27 minutes audio interview of The Cranberries minus Dolores. The weekly podcast is called “Coffee with a sign painter” and usually takes place in Starr Studios in Texas but this time it was recorded in Limerick Ireland. The exact recording date is not yet known but it sure is quite recent, “a few days ago” according to Noel Hogan’s Tumblr account. Host Sean Starr talks with Noel, Mike and Fergal about The Cranberries, the influence of Morrissey and The Smiths, the music industry, Limerick, family, life in the 80’s, not jamming together for fun on their time off, Sign Painting and the upcoming screening of the film Sign Painters at the Elemental Arts Festival in Limerick this coming September.

2015.07.14 starrstudiostx1

2015.07.14-starrstudiostx3

But the most important thing for any fans concerns the future plans/music of the band and it comes from Noel around minute 23:

I think if we decided we were gonna do it like we did a few years ago around 2009, when we went back again you know, when we get back into it, it suddenly consumes everything again. You’re doing it, you’re away all the time and you are writing and you’re in the studio and we completely focus on that then when we get back into it.
So if it’s something we do again, and I’m sure we probably will, we’ll lead it at a time when we can all focus on that and not have kind of other things going on at the same time, because as I say, it’s such a big thing when we take off that you have to kind of commit 3 years of your life really to the thing. Cause sometimes you kinda tour short, you don’t go to one territory and next you get these fans that are seriously pissed off with you so you kinda have to keep everybody happy, that’s why it takes so long then.

So, will there be new music of The Cranberries? Will there be concerts again? No one can really tell for now but at least it doesn’t look impossible and that’s pretty good news!

Also posted on the Instagram account of starrstudiostx a selfie with the band made at the show by a kid named Seth Collins. Fun!

“Linger” – Framed and numbered “Soundwave Poster”

June 26, 2015  |  Comments Off on “Linger” – Framed and numbered “Soundwave Poster”  |  by Axl  |  The Cranberries

Remember Concert Live?
Those who recorded a few concerts of The Cranberries in 2010 and 2012 and sold the CD’s at the end of the show directly at the venue. Today they are releasing a limited edition soundwave poster of the legendary track “Linger” framed and numbered 1-25

Any of you hear about a soundwave poster before? Probably not… Well it simply represents a graphic sound wave such as the ones you can find in any audio or video software on your computer. No music in there, only visual and this one is based upon the “Concert Live” artwork, the one from 2012 with the roses… and that’s pretty much it!
Click here (link no longer available)  if you’d like to buy one, price £35
Make it fast, 25 is a very limited edition!

And for those who still don’t have the “Concert Live” official live albums you can buy some of them (both 2010 and 2012) these days for a special price of £3.

“Linger” played during “The Bachelorette” TV show (UPDATED)

June 22, 2015  |  6 Comments  |  by Axl  |  The Cranberries

According to Fanberries on Facebook who was following “The Bachelorette” TV show live, The Cranberries minus Mike and Fergal played “Linger” with a string quartet at Christ Church Cathedral in Dublin while two candidates were dancing together. It was an acoustic performance.

The TV show didn’t play the whole song (only 2 minutes) and there were dialogues on it at times. However, still according to Fanberries, it is worthwhile.

Dolores and the string quartet behind – “The Bachelorette” (image: abc)

For now you can watch a 2-min video captured by David Elieser Alvarez and shared on Fanberries Facebook. It looks like David filmed his TV screen with a cell phone. Thanks to him.

Another and a little longer video (3 min) was recorded by The Cranberries Brasil and shared on their Facebook. Thanks to them as well.

Later at night, Andrew Kimmel producer of “The Bachelorette” published on Instagram a photo with Dolores, and a few words:

…and Chris Harrison, the host of the show, published a 13-sec video on Instagram, with a few words as well. Obviously he was one of the few people allowed inside the cathedral during the recording. His short video is very interesting because it is an audience recording and direct sound inside the cathedral can be heard… and it sounds beautiful… with all the depth and space of such a place.

UPDATE – JUNE 23

Dolores not saying anything about her new love revelation

May 28, 2015  |  4 Comments  |  by Axl  |  Dolores O'Riordan

Again, Dolores is in the Irish press today and again it comes from the Irish Mirror with an article entitled “Why Dolores it always rain on me? Singer looks glum on country walk in downpour day after her new love was revealed

Probably tracked by paparazzi because of the revelations of her possible relationship with Olé Koretsky Dolores was photographed walking in the rain yesterday around the family home in Ballybricken. Asked how she felt about her new love interest Dolores answered:

I’m just having a relaxing time at my mum’s house.
I’m not doing any press.
I’m not saying anything.
Thanks love.

And that’s pretty much it. The rest of the article is no particular interest and sometimes pure speculations especially when the article is entitled “Singer looks glum on country walk…” who looks happy when walking alone in a continuous rain and deep in thought!

Dolores O’ Riordan “certainly in love with Olé”

May 27, 2015  |  1 Comments  |  by Axl  |  D.A.R.K., Dolores O'Riordan

According to the article entitled “Cranberries singer Dolores O’Riordan bounces back from marriage split with hot young musician” published by the Irish Mirror, “Dolores is certainly very happy and in love with Olé Koretsky“. These words are said by Philip Tobin who recently met Dolores and Olé at “Kites”, a Chinese restaurant in Dublin, Ireland.

Kites Chinese restaurant

Sure this is NO OFFICIAL STATEMENT but if you followed the news about Dolores these past months it is reasonable to say it’s probably true. For sure, it will not sound very surprising to die-hard fans. Many of you already mentioned this possibility in many comments here on CW and as you know Olé Koretsky is currently working with Dolores (as well as Andy Rourke) in a new musical project called JetlagNYC. He also was spotted with her in different locations such as New York City, Los Angeles, Limerick and others… and some location can be considered very private.

Anyway this news must be taken very carefully, for example “They were singing some of their new stuff in the restaurant – it sounds amazing”. Even if possible it’s quite surprising… or Philip Tobin possibly did not recognize some old or cover songs but if he is right what a night and what a lucky man he is!

Dolores spotted by fans on social networks. Recap!

May 21, 2015  |  Comments Off on Dolores spotted by fans on social networks. Recap!  |  by Axl  |  D.A.R.K., Dolores O'Riordan

Here is a little recap of the photos/selfies with Dolores made by fans in the past months. Those pics are usually reTweeted/reFacebooked on CW’s Twitter and Facebook accounts and do not appear all the time on the website here at the very minute. This post is to repair the fault as some of you don’t use social networks while others may simply have missed a photo.

As you probably all know, news about Dolores (and The Cranberries) have always been quite rare so thanks to those bloody socials, now fans have a better idea about the recent locations and activities of their favorite stars more easily than in the past.

And a big thank you to all the people/fans who shared their precious moments to the world.

Dolores spotted at Treyvaud’s Restaurant in Killarney

May 7, 2015  |  Comments Off on Dolores spotted at Treyvaud’s Restaurant in Killarney  |  by Axl  |  Dolores O'Riordan, The Cranberries

Dolores was spotted today at Treyvaud’s Restaurant, 62 High Street, in Killarney, Ireland. Is this a coincidence? BWWTV was mentioning yesterday that the Bachelorette dates would attend a private Cranberries concert and then move on to Killarney. Looks very much like the private concert took place/is taking place these days.

As a matter of fact, the restaurant owner first posted a simple message on Facebook

…and about an hour later, still on Facebook, posted a photo with Dolores and the message “Hanging with Dolores!!

The Cranberries appearing in the next season of “The Bachelorette” (UPDATED)

May 6, 2015  |  2 Comments  |  by Axl  |  The Cranberries

Sort of breaking news today as several articles in the medias mention The Cranberries playing a private concert in the new season of the TV show “The Bachelorette” USA version. Season 11 premieres next May 18th on ABC.

Travelling across the Atlantic to Ireland, the dates are filled with explosive revelations and drama, as the group journeys to Dublin and a stop at the magnificent Christ Church Cathedral. The Bachelorette and one lucky man are treated to a private concert by the popular rock group The Cranberries. Then their Irish excursion moves on to Killarney with a romantic trip to the Blarney Castle to kiss the Blarney Stone.

It looks like all the episodes are now recorded so if true The Cranberries reformed at least for one day. Hope we can have more details soon as it would be the first show of the band in about 2 years and a half.
This is not the first time The Cranberries or Dolores solo appear on TV/Movies (Charmed, Click…) and it is always nice to see them in projects like this.

“No Need To Argue” to be reissued on 180g vinyl on July 17th

April 23, 2015  |  2 Comments  |  by Axl  |  The Cranberries

Title says it all…
Good news for collectors and people who still don’t have “No Need To Argue” on vinyl, the masterpiece album will be reissued on Plain Label on July 17, 2015 and can be pre-ordered online right now for $23.78 on runtshop.com

runtshop.com

The news directly came from Runt on Facebook last April 9th:

For now The Cranberries or their management made no official statement, so it is too soon to know if the LP will be available anywhere else but according to the Runtshop pre-order page the offer doesn’t look exclusive nor limited edition.

This reissue might directly be linked to the partnership recently signed by Dolores and Noel with Warner/Chappell Music. If that is the case we could expect some more reissues in the coming months/years.

UPDATE – MAY 12

EARLIER THAN EXPECTED THE LP IS NOW IN STOCK.

Angelo Badalamenti: “Dolores and I are working on her album”

April 15, 2015  |  5 Comments  |  by Axl  |  Dolores O'Riordan

Thanks to Sara from Cranberries Italia for searching the web and finding this interview of the composer Angelo Badalamenti published on spiritandfleshmag.com
It’s a long interview about David Lynch, movies, Angelo’s musical career and other things.

Concerning Dolores there’s only one line but what a line:

Dolores O’Riordan from The Cranberries and I are working on her album;
she’s a wonderful lyricist with an edge to her voice.

The Cranberries’ songwriters sign with Warner/Chappell Music

April 2, 2015  |  4 Comments  |  by Axl  |  The Cranberries

According to the article entitled “Cranberries’ songwriters sign with Warner/Chappell Music” published on musicweek.com, Dolores and Noel signed a publishing partnership with Warner/Chappell Music UK covering their share of the band’s body of work 1993-2004 from “Everyboby Else Is Doing It So Why Can’t We?” to “Wake Up And Smell The Coffee”.

Richard Manners, Managing director of Warner Chappell UK says:

I am delighted Warner/Chappell will provide a home for the works of Dolores and Noel, and I am especially happy to be reunited with their amazing music having signed the band’s original publishing deal at the start of their career. This is a distinctive catalogue, melodically and lyrically, and their huge international success has given it a truly global reach. They continue to be popular and highly respected musicians today, and we look forward to working with them and their management team to create new opportunities for their outstanding compositions and build on their already impressive career.

This is pretty good news which proves that Dolores and Noel still can agree about The Cranberries. Up to now, nobody has heard again of the court action launched by Dolores against Noel a year and a half ago so it looks like things are getting better between them.

Also, let’s emphasize that in this article, P.J. O’Riordan (Dolores’ brother) is mentioned as Dolores’ manager.

More information about O’Riordan/Alexandrakis collaboration

March 12, 2015  |  5 Comments  |  by Jury  |  Dolores O'Riordan

Composer/producer Eric Alexandrakis continues to tease Dolores’ fans with new exciting bits of information about their collaboration. And it seems like this collaboration has an official title now:
“Electrons featuring Dolores O’Riordan”
Electrons is the name of Alexandrakis’ project which includes different musicians from bands like Duran Duran, The Cure, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and others.

A few weeks ago we reported about the new song “You Got What You Wanted”. Today there’s more information about this track:
The song is written and recorded by Eric Alexandrakis, Perry Bamonte (The Cure; lead guitar?), Steve Ferrone (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers; drums), Dolores O’ Riordan (The Cranberries; vocal) and Andy Rourke (The Smiths; bass guitar).
As you can see, Andy Rourke from Dolores’ new band, Jetlag NYC, has joined the Electrons, too. The lyrics for “You Got What You Wanted” were written by Dolores O’Riordan and, according to the title, it may refer to the recent events in her life.

Yesterday Eric Alexandrakis has posted a new exciting photo on Facebook with the comment “Betcha wish you had one of these.

Probably just a vinyl made to one copy or maybe just a photoshop montage of a record that does not really exist yet and we can only ponder how many songs the A-Side and B-Side of this vinyl have.

And there’s a clue as one of our readers, Mimi, posted a few days ago the following information regarding Dolores’ work with Electrons:

“They have quite a few tracks together:
“Redemption”
“Robophobic Redemption” (by far the most amazing sounding thing Dolores has ever been on)
“Purple Heart Redemption” (very clubby)
“Trust” (a.k.a. “La Fine”)
“You Got What You Wanted” (haven’t heard it yet)
and more coming from what I hear.

So… are we gonna have an ALBUM full of Dolores’ songs with Electrons?
Time will tell, or let’s just wait another hint from Mr. Alexandrakis 😉

The Cranberries #36 in what British people love the most in Ireland

March 10, 2015  |  1 Comments  |  by Axl  |  The Cranberries

No, Guinness is not what British people love the most in Ireland, Irish accent is!
Guinness “only” is number 2.

The Cranberries are number 36 which 25 years after their debut is not that bad. By comparison U2 is #16, Sinead O’Connor #17 (both recently released an album) Thin Lizzy #22 and The Pogues #10 amongst many other ultimate Irish legends.

The list of the 50 greatest Irish things was made according to a survey which took into account the opinions of more than 2000 people in the UK.

No doubt all of you readers/fans would have placed The Cranberries as reason #1 to love and visit Ireland.

Dolores O’ Riordan new live DVD (bootleg!) recorded in Basel at AVO Sessions

February 23, 2015  |  Comments Off on Dolores O’ Riordan new live DVD (bootleg!) recorded in Basel at AVO Sessions  |  by Axl  |  Dolores O'Riordan

Danila Aranha shared a couple of days ago on the Facebook page of The Cranberries Brasil a very interesting photo of a new Dolores O’ Riordan bootleg DVD sold officially in store in Salvador by the shop Livraria Cultura.

AVO Session – bootleg DVD

Recorded in Basel, Switzerland on november 15, 2007 during the second European leg of the “Are You Listening Tour”, this show is very familiar to the fans as back in the days it was broadcast on TV in Switzerland and was immediately uploaded on YouTube and still can be easily watched these days on the internet.

Even if the picture of Danila totally makes illusion, this DVD is surely a bootleg item as there are very few chances that, almost 8 years after the performance without any official release, this shop in Salvador has the legal rights to sell it. So pay attention and know what you’re buying if you plan to order it. This dvd probably is reserved to die-hard fans and collectors and not addressed to the general public as production quality may be… uncertain!

DVD is NTSC, possibly factory pressed and not cheap homemade DVD-R.
As it probably should not have ended in that kind of store where people automatically think there are only official products on sale, its selling lifetime can be very limited so if you are a real collector make it fast before it becomes unavailable!

The musician/composer Eric Alexandrakis posted on Instagram today a photo in studio with a quite interesting comment:

Quite the busy week…
Steve did his bits for a new Electrons song called “You Got What You Wanted”, featuring Dolores O’Riordan on vocals.

No more explanations for now. This is possibly a second song featuring Dolores unless it is the one called La Fine” with a new title… Time will tell
