December 31, 2013  |  Comments Off on Live from Limerick City of Culture’s New Year Eve  |  by Axl  |  Dolores O'Riordan

Hi there,
Here is what the NYE concert stage looks like. Pretty small place!
Photos are from yesterday evening when stage was still being built.

The stage is located on Merchant’s Quay, a place surrounded by Church, Cemetery and City Hall.
Great place for sure!
Dolores should play tonight at 9:00 PM and we will try our best to live tweet from the event.
Keep in mind the concert will be broadcast on Irish TV RTÉ at 10:15 PM and thus Dolores’ show won’t be broadcast live.

Dolores in the free magazine of the city simply entitled “Limerick”

As you can see on flyer, the Limerick radio live95fm is partnership to the event so the show may be broadcast on this radio, just a possibility, no exact info about that right now.

The Cranberries lead singer is set to play as part of the Limerick City of Culture 2014 celebrations. The show starts at 8:30 (Limerick time zone) and will be broadcast on Irish TV RTÉ. Dolores will perform some of The Cranberries greatest hits in an orchestra version. Quite exciting!

Fans still remember her exciting rendition of “Zombie” in 2011 with the Sinfonia Varsovia orchestra or the swing version of “Linger” at Concerto di Natale in 2005.

New Dolores interview by Barry Egan in The Independent

December 23, 2013  |  Comments Off on New Dolores interview by Barry Egan in The Independent  |  by Camille  |  Dolores O'Riordan

Since her last interview with Barry Egan last november in which she confessed she was sexually abused as a child, Dolores have been entering a healing process which she explains in a new interview in The Independent entitled “Dolores O’Riordan: rock star and truth-seeker

Invited to join her in Roma, Italy three weeks ago where she performed at “Concerto di Natale”, Barry Egan thus discussed this relief with her:

It does feel good to have that off the shoulders.
You can dwell on negative stuff in the past too much and then you will never grow and you will never evolve and you never embrace the future, or life. So as soon as you can you have to learn to let it go and put it in that box or whatever.
I’m in a place of great happiness. I’ve never been happier or as calm or contented in my life.

Dolores also explains she decided not to go for a therapy as “sometimes that therapy erases the memory too much… erasing the ability to write.

In Roma where she performed for “Concerto di Natale” – Photo:  Alessandro Penso

The interviews then goes on with what has enabled her to move forward with her life, with a focus on her religious reawakening as well as on her family.
Indeed, she tells Barry how Don, her husband, has always been a great support for her, bringing her joie de vivre since they first met.

He is devoted to me and I am devoted to him.
I think he is very paternal. He really has a protective thing about him. I like that. I couldn’t really do the baby thing. You know the way some men like to be babied? And they want their wife to be their mother figure? I couldn’t do that.

A wonderful interview which enables us to understand how the Rock Star has finally managed to make a happy life for herself despite the hard roads she has travelled along.

The singer is now spending Christmas with her family in Canada and, as opposed to what was stated in the Concerto di Natale program, is not expecting any new baby but is looking forward to having grandbabies in a (near?) future.

The Battles of “The Voice of Ireland” in a nutshell

December 22, 2013  |  1 Comments  |  by Camille  |  The Voice of Ireland

Better late than never, a few words on what happened last Sunday and Monday at “The Voice of Ireland”.

The coaches: Dolores, Kian, Bressie, Jamelia

According to fans who attended the shooting, it seems Dolores is still having fun taking part to this show. Although she’s the one giving candidates the most professional advices, she’s also doing many jokes which the audience seems to appreciate a lot.

Kathryn Thomas, the host of the show, told The Independent in an article entitled “Kathryn Thomas planning a family Christmas… but without her new squeeze, Padraig” that “[Dolores] loves the audience. She has had to be reminded of the rules of the show which is pretty funny“.

In another article entitled  “I’ve lost touch with The Voice winner Keith Hanley admits Jamelia“, another coach, Jamelia (who won competition last year), explained that Dolores was a great addition: “[she] is wicked. She is as mad as a box of frogs“.

As usual during the Battle phase, each team is mentored and developed by their coach plus an adviser. Dolores’ advisor is Fiachna Ó Braonáin from the band “Hothouse Flowers, a quite famous Irish band for whom The Cranberries opened shows in 1993.

Bressie, Fiachna Ó Braonáin (Dolores’ advisor), Dolores

3 coaches wand their advisors

Last but not least, from what fans reported, Dolores said that hopefully a third album would be released, though she stated she wouldn’t tour before 2015.

We strongly advice to watch the show which will air starting from January 6th on RTÉ One, every sunday 6:30 PM. Dolores really is as Rock n’ Roll at “The Voice of Ireland” as she can be on stage.
For those who can’t access to Irish TV’s, some videos will be available on the official website of the show: http://www.rte.ie/blogs/thevoice/videos/

Dolores sang for the Pope tonight at “Concerto di Natale”

December 7, 2013  |  2 Comments  |  by Axl  |  Dolores O'Riordan

Earlier tonight was the recording of “Concerto di Natale” in Roma, Italy which will be broadcast on Italian TV on december 24th. This is the 5th time Dolores O’ Riordan is coming to this show. Her previous appearances were in 2001, 2002, 2005 and 2006.

This year Dolores sang 4 songs:

  • Letting Go (performed live for the 1st time ever & with different lyrics according to fan Schizophrenic Lu)
  • Silent Night (duet with Elisa Toffoli)
  • Away In A Manger
  • Happy Xmas, War Is Over (All Artists together as final)

“Silent Night”, “Away In A Manger” and “Happy Xmas, War Is Over” were already performed by Dolores at some other “Concerto di Natale” through the years, so we can’t wait to see what the 2013 versions sound like.

The new Pope, Pope Franciscus, was in the audience as he is spending his first Christmas in Vatican after being elected last March. Seeing a Pope at the show hasn’t happened in quite a long time as the last Pope, Pope Benedictus Sextus Decimus didn’t like the “Concerto di Natale” very much and we have to go back to Pope Ioannes Paulus II to see a Pope attending the event.
This time again, Dolores had a special audience with the Pontiff earlier this week. Let’s remember she met Pope Ioannes Paulus II in 2001 and 2002.

You can also contribute by giving money via Fundrazr if you want to help us buying the advert.
Let us recall you that you’re very welcome to send a message to Dolores even if you’re not contributing to the fund-raising effort!

Remember, this is your one and only opportunity to answer her call in the LIFE magazine and do something for her.
300 of you liked our post about the campaign, we should thus be able to make it all together!

Your idol is reaching out for help.
Are YOU listening to DOLORES?

PS: To all the loyal Italian fans who might be able to  have a talk with her in the upcoming days, please try not to mention it as it’d be better to let her find out by herself, cheers!

In it together 🙂

The Cranberries are still making profits

December 5, 2013  |  Comments Off on The Cranberries are still making profits  |  by Axl  |  The Cranberries

For those who might have doubts, an article entitled “New album comes up ‘Roses’ for The Cranberries as profits jump to €320k” and published in the Irish Examiner today reveals The Cranberries are still making money as a band.

The article is interesting but quite technical as the journalist Gordon Deegan gives fairly precise figures earned by the band’s Curtain Call Ltd in 2012, a year boosted by the album “Roses”. All four members have a 25% shareholding in Curtain Call Ltd.
Even if the revenues are not in million(s) anymore probably due to the crisis in the music industry these last years (but which artist is not impacted!) this is still a good news.

An old demo recording from Noel Hogan surfaces

December 4, 2013  |  Comments Off on An old demo recording from Noel Hogan surfaces  |  by Jury  |  Mono Band

Guitarist Noel Hogan has shared his old demo recording from 2006: a song called “Roads”.
You can listen to it on Noel Hogan Production’s Soundcloud by clicking this link. (link no longer available)

The song has vocals from a long-time Noel’s collaborator, Richard Walters, and most likely was recorded for the Arkitekt project which started to take shape at that time.

It remains unclear whether this song will see the light of day or not.

A GLOBAL FAN CAMPAIGN TO SUPPORT DOLORES

November 25, 2013  |  Comments Off on A GLOBAL FAN CAMPAIGN TO SUPPORT DOLORES  |  by Camille  |  Other News

Dear Cranberries fans,

As a community, we are bound by the same passion towards Dolores O’ Riordan because her songs are our inspiration. They have provided the soundtrack to our lives. Through good times and bad they have given us something to hold on to and helped make us stronger people.

Today is the day we have to tell Dolores how much we value this and how important she is to us!

Indeed, many of us were moved by Dolores recent expose in the major Irish newspaper “Sunday Independent” where she gave a very intimate interview with the journalist Barry Egan of that paper’s “LIFE” magazine, revealing she was sexually abused as a child.
Following this publication, numerous fans expressed a desire to show their solidarity, especially as Dolores stated « if I tell my fans that this happened to me and they still love me, that’s going to make me feel good about myself ».
Our idol is reaching out for help. This is therefore the time to tell her that our love is unconditional and will never fade.

To make this happen the Cranberries World team has decided to launch a global support project:

In partnership with the Sunday Independent’s LIFE, we’re going to publish the following half page advert in the magazine on December 15th so as to answer Dolores via the same means she herself used to confess her most intimate secrets. We believe that by acting this way, we will be demonstrating to Dolores how much we love and respect her no matter what has happened in her past.
Please note that we can guarantee Dolores will be provided with a copy of the magazine.

How can you contribute to this project?

First, you can encourage Dolores and express your love by sending your support messages together with your name/username and your country to supportdolores [at] cranberriesworld.com. Collective messages are also welcome. Please don’t be shy, show her that her revelation will in no way affect our respect or feelings towards her.
We will then publish all of your messages on http://cranberriesworld.com/supportdolores in order to show Dolores that fans from all over the world are supporting her.

Secondly, we’re asking help from all of you to finance that advert as we need to raise €2,500 for a half page in “LIFE” magazine (27x14cm). We believe this opportunity is unique, and we can only make it happen if we all contribute. Let’s tell the Irish people and the entire world that The Cranberries fans are passionate and devoted. Let’s show them how strong we are when it comes to supporting the woman who gives us so much. You can donate via the donations platform FundRazr which accepts secure payments with PayPal, MasterCard, Visa and other cards.

We’ve got less than 3 weeks to act, deadline for messages and fundraising is December 13th!

Thank you to all those who have supported us thus far and those who plan to support us in the near future. We know your support will be of great encouragement to Dolores and help her move forward with her life.
Thank you as well to photographer Mattia Sarzi Madidini who allowed us to use his wonderful picture of Dolores for the ad.

We’d also like to give a big shout out to Barry Egan and Eoin Healy of The Independent for the confidence and trust they have placed in us so that our ambitious project may see the light of day.

Last but not least, spread the word! Tell your Cranberries mates about our campaign.
Let’s make it huge and important, for us the fans and for Dolores.
Let’s keep the love alive.
Thank you.

Noel Hogan to give an award for charity auction (UPDATED)

Yesterday Noel Hogan informed us on Tumblr that he was giving one of his personal award for charity auction with no more explanation.
We do not know where this “To The Faithful Departed” Argentinian Gold Award will be auctioned, let’s hope we’ll get a clue soon for those who’d like to get their hands on such a pretty rare item.

The Burtons to return to Canada

November 16, 2013  |  3 Comments  |  by Camille  |  Dolores O'Riordan

In an online article entitled “Cranberries star Dolores to linger in Canada”, the “Irish Daily Star” revealed that Dolores O’ Riordan and husband Don Burton were to come back to Canada.

As you might remember, the singer and her family had decided to move back to Ireland this summer and rented a house near Dublin for a trial period but it seems her children are homesick and want to go back to Toronto.

We can thus imagine that Dolores will probably not take part in the fourth series of The Voice of Ireland next year (2014-2015).

(The “Irish Daily Star” article is no longer available)

UPDATE – NOVEMBER 18

According to the Independent.ie article published today, the journalist Barry Egan confirms the Burton family has already left to Canada explaining that Dolores & Don, their children, as well as their two dogs took a plane last Tuesday. Dolores has already planned to be back in Dublin mid-December for The Voice Battles.

It was too built up for us. Too many people and cars and it felt like being in a box
[…]
We missed the wilderness. You get used to the great outdoors.
[…]
From my window at home in Canada with the heavy snow on the trees, I can see people fishing through the ice. Doesn’t that sound enticing?

I’m looking forward to peaceful silence at last!

Dolores O’ Riordan to headline New Year’s Eve concert in Limerick

November 14, 2013  |  6 Comments  |  by Axl  |  Dolores O'Riordan, Mono Band, The Cranberries

Limerick will definitely be the place to be in 2014!
The Irish city is indeed officially declared “National City of Culture” for the whole next year.

If you read Noel Hogan’s messages on Tumblr,  you may have already seen his recent posts about the “Limerick City of Culture 2014” and followed his collaborative production projects for the town.

And here comes the next step today, the Limerick Leader just announced that Dolores O’ Riordan will be performing at the first ever New Year’s Eve concert to take place in Limerick. Something quite obvious when we all know that The Cranberries are still the biggest hometown band to this day!

Immediate notice: why Dolores solo and not The Cranberries?
No answer to that yet, anyways…

If you’d like to go to the show, tickets will go on sale tomorrow (Friday) on Ticketmaster.
A crowd of up to 2,800 people will packed into Merchant’s Quay in front of City Hall for the ticket only gig.

Dolores will be joined by the Irish Chamber Orchestra for an “exclusive worldwide performance” to open Limerick’s stint as National City of Culture. Other artists are planned and names will be revealed in the coming weeks.

The show will be broadcast on Irish TV RTÉ.

Dolores praised for her courage

November 11, 2013  |  Comments Off on Dolores praised for her courage  |  by Jury  |  Other News

A new article today by the Irish Independent featuring an interview with Ellen O’ Malley-Dunlop (CEO of the Irish Rape Crisis Centre) praising Dolores O’ Riordan for her “tremendous courage” in speaking out about the childhood sexual abuse she suffered. Ms Malley-Dunlop thinks that Dolores’ admission would inspire countless victims to seek help around the country.

I think she’s shown tremendous courage and great generosity in speaking out, because when people like her talk about the terrible trauma inflicted upon them, it encourages others to come forward.

It is one of the most horrific crimes in our society and all the things Dolores said – like feeling ashamed, the aftermath of the trauma on her life, the lack of self-worth, the anorexia and the suicidal thoughts – they are all common feelings.

They are feelings that people have who have not been able to talk about the awful experiences they endured and it is never, ever the victim’s fault, particularly a child victim who is groomed.

BREAKING NEWS: Dolores sexually abused as a child

November 10, 2013  |  7 Comments  |  by Camille  |  Dolores O'Riordan

As we all noticed recently, since Dolores O’ Riordan has been taking part to the reality television singing competition “The Voice of Ireland”, Irish medias keep on digging information about her.

After revealing that she was about to launch court action against Noel Hogan about two weeks ago, the Independent.ie (as well as Irish Mirror) shed a light today on her childhood in a most unexpected interview in which she confesses that she was sexually abused as a child.

The full interview will be available in a few hours this Sunday (it’s almost 3:00 AM Irish Time right now) in the Sunday Independent’s Life Magazine. The ePaper version can already be downloaded for €2.80

Dolores on the front cover of “LIFE”

This is obviously the first time Dolores explicitly mentions such a fact:
Even though she had already spoken about the trauma she suffered from during her relationship with Mike Mahoney, the abuse she recently spoke of “started when she was 8 and continued until she was 12“, which shows this has nothing to do with the physical violence her domineering boyfriend used to impose on her.

Regarding from what we understand of the song “In The Garden off the album “Are You Listening?” released in 2007, it seems that Dolores had tried to speak indirectly about what she calls her “little dirty secret” before. Indeed, back in 2007, some of us, fans, analysed the lyrics and suggested the following lines could refer to some of her childhood memories which pointed to such a possibility:

I see her playing in the garden
I was once like her, you did this to me
I don’t remember, when this offence begun
I don’t remember, I can’t undo what’s done

The theory could never be confirmed, even though the song “Skeleton” off the album “No Baggage” released in 2009 provided more clues with lines such as:

I tried to face it
I can’t erase it
So I must face it
I must embrace it
[…]
I have wasted my time
Dwelling in the shadows from the past
[…]
In the corner of the room
I tried to face it

It seems that Dolores has been pondering over what she considers as a “skeleton” a lot recently, hence the revelation that came today. Indeed, she explains she hadn’t seen her abuser for years until she saw him at the funeral of her father two years ago, which brought back the demons of the past as she was about to start a new tour. Dolores then emphasizes the depression she went through on the 2012 world tour, saying “I worried that I might not make it through it“, some facts that created a special atmosphere at these gigs that some of us, fans, could unfortunately feel.

By opening up to her fans via this interview, Dolores hopes that she’ll be released from this trauma, hence the necessity to speak about it and justify some of the songs she wrote in order to heal and move forward.

Dolores O’ Riordan working on a 3rd solo album, new clue!

November 8, 2013  |  3 Comments  |  by Axl  |  Dolores O'Riordan

A new homepage appeared today on the official website of the Concerto di Natale and it now includes a brief biography of Dolores. The big surprise comes from the very last line where it says she is “currently working on her long-awaited third solo album slated for 2014“.

Last month we reported the interview of Marco Mendoza where he revealed that he was working with Dolores and that there were some songs done but couldn’t really say if it was for an album, a movie or anything else. Cranberries World suggested that those songs could be for a 3rd solo album for the reasons we exposed (please re-read) and today this new small biography for the Concerto di Natale seems to go in our way even revealing that the album is for 2014!

Wait and see!

(2007) e No Baggage (2009).

Matt Vaughan to work on Noel’s new EP

October 30, 2013  |  Comments Off on Matt Vaughan to work on Noel’s new EP  |  by Jury  |  Mono Band

As reported before, The Cranberries guitarist Noel Hogan is working on a new EP, most likely the new Mono Band EP. And according to his latest Tumblr post below, one of the tracks is going to be produced by an old friend.

Mr. Vaughan working on a new track for me.
This is part of the new ep, more soon.

“Mr. Vaughan” is obviously Matt Vaughan, producer and programmer who briefly worked on The Cranberries’ 6th album demos in 2003. He also worked with Dolores O’ Riordan and Noel Hogan on their first solo demos in 2003-2005.

All in all, this means that Mr. Vaughan is no stranger to the Cranberries world so we can expect some really exciting material from the new Mono Band EP.

Dolores O’ Riordan to launch court action against Noel Hogan

October 25, 2013  |  8 Comments  |  by Camille  |  The Cranberries

A weird piece of news to wake up with this morning as we find out in the Irish Press (Irish Independent & Limerick Leader) that Dolores O’ Riordan is about to launch court action against Noel Hogan.

According to these articles, the “cause of action in the filing is listed as a declaration” but no other details have been given as the singer, her spokesperson and Noel remain quiet about the matter.

This, of course, is quite unexpected as The Cranberries have been stating since their reunion tour in 2009 that they’ve always been in good terms and that both Dolores and Noel had even kept writing for each other during the band’s hiatus.

Let’s hope for more news to understand what’s happening exactly and see if that can affect the future of the band as this is quite worrying and shocking for us, fans.
Let’s also note that both articles seem to be repeating the content of a press release without clearly understanding what’s at stake as they’re using the same exact terms.

Dolores O’ Riordan working on a 3rd solo album (?)

October 22, 2013  |  3 Comments  |  by Axl  |  Dolores O'Riordan

Glide Magazine just published a long interview with Marco Mendoza where the guy declares to be working with Dolores O’ Riordan from The Cranberries on her possible 3rd new album. He says that he doesn’t know at this point if it’s going to be an album or not:

There’s some songs, some movie possibilities, a lot of things cooking in her world so we’re working on that right now

Macro Mendoza

For those of you who may not know Marco Mendoza, the Glide Magazine article is a very good start to have an idea as he is a musician that doesn’t stick to one singer or one band but has always been involved in many different music projects.
As for his collaboration with Dolores, the man already worked on her 2 solo albums and went on tour with her on the “Are You Listening Tour” in 2007 during which he was playing bass guitar.

No doubt that we can take the guy very seriously when he says he is working with Dolores.
Not to mention that right now our favourite singer just became a new judge at “The Voice of Ireland” so it all makes sense: indeed, mostly all coaches who took part to this TV show until now saw their popularity and career coming back in force and the music business naturally asked them to release something shortly after (usually when they reach the next season of the show). The Voice of Ireland may definitely be a marvellous way for a 3rd solo album.

Nevertheless we all have to be very careful with that news and we don’t have to expect too much yet as all those different projects are just at the start, but a good start what ‘ya think?

The Voice of Ireland’s Blind Auditions

October 20, 2013  |  1 Comments  |  by Camille  |  The Voice of Ireland

As promised, here’s some news from the Blind Auditions of “The Voice of Ireland” TV show where Dolores just appeared as a coach for the first time this year.

Dolores’ seat

Some members of our team were on site and were quite surprised to see how easily Dolores plays the game, almost stealing the show from Kian Egan, one of the 4 original coaches and superstar of the show. She seems to be taking her role very seriously and is probably the most professional coach on the set, giving candidates technical advices, as well as entertaining everyone with numerous jokes. Looks like people in the audience have been enjoying her speeches as much as they often ended up encouraging candidates to choose her as their choach.

Dolores revealed during the show that she will sing at Concerto di Natale this winter in Italy.
More to come tomorrow…

According to the new message posted by Noel Hogan on Tumblr on October 11th, The Cranberries guitaris is working on a new (Mono Band?) EP.

“1st ep track almost done.”

Last June Noel revealed demo samples of new songs recorded with Fin Chambers, “Waking Up All Over” and “Start & Scars.” It remains unclear whether these songs will be featured on this upcoming EP or not.

Dolores in the press, first articles…

October 13, 2013  |  3 Comments  |  by Camille  |  The Voice of Ireland

As we get closer to the first shootings of “The Voice of Ireland” which will take place on October 18th, 19th and 20th, numerous articles related to Dolores appear on the Irish Press. Her participation to the TV show will expose her to a new audience of young people who do not necessarily now much of The Cranberries career.

As a consequence, in the article entitled “Dolores is back in the limelight and bidding to find a new voice“, the Irish Independent decided to introduce the singer in a pretty harsh article which tends to emphasize the fact that The Cranberries’ worldwide success has a bitter-sweet taste for Irish people. Let us recall that the band didn’t play a single concert in their home country on their 32 dates European Roses Tour in 2012.

Let’s get prepared to read lots of similar articles in the following months.

Dolores to take part in “The Voice of Ireland” as judge

October 4, 2013  |  6 Comments  |  by Camille  |  The Voice of Ireland

Dolores appeared tonight on the TV show ‘The Late Late Show” broadcast on Irish TV RTÉ One. She revealed that she is now the new judge/coach of the famous TV show “The Voice of Ireland” replacing Sharon Corr who decided not to take part in the singing competition this year.

It’s great to be back in Ireland and to be taking part in one of Ireland’s most popular TV shows at same time. I know a good voice when I hear one and I am out to find the best star in the country.

She is now back in her home country to record the third series of blind auditions and the shooting should start on October 18th, 19th & 20th. Dolores will have to choose ten contestants to work with and lead the best of them to the final.

Noel Hogan heads back to studio

May 25, 2013  |  Comments Off on Noel Hogan heads back to studio  |  by Luc  |  Mono Band

Noel Hogan plans to enter recording studio for his Mono Band solo project next month.
The Cranberries’ guitarist posted a short message on his Facebook production page yesterday, saying that he is set to record some drums and bass for two tracks he did with vocalist Fin Chambers. One of the two titles was already revealed by Hogan in 2011, “Waking Up All Over”, while it is the first time we hear about “Start & Scars”.

Noel has also been doing some production work for other acts for a few weeks.
Senakah‘s “Human Relations” (for which Noel worked as a producer) was released last month.

Curtain Call made good profits in 2010-2011

April 14, 2013  |  6 Comments  |  by Luc  |  The Cranberries

A year before the release of their first album in 10 years, The Cranberries made good profits through their own company, Curtain Call Ltd.

According to the Irish Times, the band’s company recorded well-deserved profits of €71,973 in 2011 and €248,183 a year before, mainly with their Reunion Tour, while music sales continues to decline in the entertainment industry for a decade or so.

Each of the band’s four members has a 25 per cent stake in Curtain Call.

With the release of “Roses” in 2012, followed by short tours in Asia and North America and an extended one in Europe, 2012 must have been a good year for the band, financial-wise.

A new old and unusual recording of The Cranberries to surface

March 30, 2013  |  8 Comments  |  by Axl  |  The Cranberries

Yesterday a new bootleg of The Cranberries surfaced on the internet. It is almost 11-year old as it was recorded live in concert on June 1, 2002 in Pompano Beach, USA (near Miami) during the “Wake Up And Smell The Coffee World Tour ’02”.
We usually don’t write any news when a new bootleg comes out and we simply add it to our bootleg database (which is small for now but is bound to grow over the coming months and years).

This new old recording is an exception as it is quite special and deserves a few explanations.
Why?
Because we usually know 2 ways of recording a concert: Professional made by professional and authorized people and Audience made most of the time by fans in the crowd and unauthorized.

The bootleg that surfaced yesterday belongs to a another category as it is an IEM Feed source and this is the first ever IEM recording of The Cranberries known to date for now. Many of us just have no idea what an IEM Feed is and what it means. IEM is for In-Ear-Monitors. Let’s make it simple, it is the headphones that all musicians have on stage nowadays. And each musician have its own mix inside, for example a bass player might want to hear the bass louder than the other instruments etc…
Datfly (the uploader -and maybe taper?- of this new bootleg on dimeadozen.org) tells us, in file description, that the recording features very heavy Dolores vocals so there are good chances that the IEM Feed recorded here is Dolores’ one.

There we have a professional source recorded by a non-professional and probably non-authorized person. The result is kinda unique and everyone will have its own opinion on the quality and interest of the thing. It’s up to you to listen. Hear the accuracy of Dolores singings like rarely heard before. Anyway what is for sure, The Cranberries Fans Community definitely have a new collector piece!

“Raining In My Heart” to be licensed for TV and movies (?)

March 9, 2013  |  7 Comments  |  by Jury  |  The Cranberries

According to a very intriguing promo CD that has surfaced on eBay, The Cranberries’ song “Raining In My Heart” might have a chance to be featured on some TV shows or movies.
The promo CD is called “Music Alternatives January 2013” and it features songs from various artists including The Cranberries. The CD is released by Music Alternatives and, according to the company’s website (musicalternatives.com), it specializes in “placing their artists’ music in film, television, commercials, video games, trailers, soundtracks and special markets.

“Music Alternatives January 2013” promo CD includes “Raining In My Heart”

Songs from Music Alternatives’ artists were placed in many popular TV shows such as “Grey’s Anatomy”, “Criminal Minds”, “Supernatural”, “Castle”, “How I Met Your Mother”, “Bones” and many many more….

“Raining In My Heart” was the second promo single from “Roses” in some countries, so who knows, maybe Cooking Vinyl didn’t give up on a promotion of the latest album? Placing new songs in popular TV shows is quite a common practice. For example, The Cranberries’ songs “Analyse” and “Never Grow Old” were placed in “Smallville” and “Alias”.
Maybe in few weeks we’ll hear “Raining In My Heart” in some TV show or commercials?

No Cranberries at Zacatecas

March 8, 2013  |  2 Comments  |  by Luc  |  Dolores O'Riordan, The Cranberries

Zacatecas Festival seemed to have announced their 2013 line-up prematurely last month: there never was an agreement for a show between The Cranberries and the festival. We can only assume that the rest of the rumors about Dolores are also unfounded.

About the rumors…

March 6, 2013  |  2 Comments  |  by Luc  |  Dolores O'Riordan, The Cranberries

Rumors  have been spreading around about Dolores health for a few days now, since Zacatecas Festival canceled The Cranberries gig originally scheduled for March 25th.

Our fansite has chosen not to contribute to the rumors and not to put a name on whatever possible reason the gig was cancelled.  Remember that the band has not announced anything about this, so we can only presume that these are speculations. We would also like to point out that some statements by the Zacatecas representatives include some inaccurate information about Dolores’ previous health condition. The only known health problem that Dolores suffered from over the last few years was some vocal cord nodules.

The current rumor could be a simple misunderstanding.

Whether or not Dolores is afflicted by a health problem, we feel that she should be the one announcing it publicly if she wants to, not some concert promoter. We feel that the last days’ statements were inappropriate.

BREAKING NEWS: Zacatecas festival cancels Cranberries gig

March 4, 2013  |  5 Comments  |  by Luc  |  The Cranberries

The Zacatecas festival announced that The Cranberries will not attend their festival according to DireccionesZac. The band had not confirmed its presence to this festival nor decline it on their official website.

Last week, the Zacatecas festival included The Cranberries on their official program.

Let’s hope that everything is alright with the band and that their silence is only due to some [well-deserve] time off, even though everyone misses them already.

Thanks to Cranberries Mexico for the news.

Windmill master tapes might be Universal-Island’s property

March 2, 2013  |  1 Comments  |  by Luc  |  The Cranberries

Master tapes recorded at the Windmill Lane Studios might be Universal and Island’s record property, as the record label probably paid for the recording sessions back then.

Tony Perrey from Windmill Lane Studios was interviewed today on RTE radio and explained that in many cases, records labels have the rights on these master tapes. No words on The Cranberries in this interview though…

You can listen to the interview HERE.

20 years ago: Everybody else was doing it… and so did they!

March 2, 2013  |  Comments Off on 20 years ago: Everybody else was doing it… and so did they!  |  by Luc  |  The Cranberries

The Cranberries’ debut album turns 20 this week-end… and sounds as fresh as if it was recorded yesterday! Released on March 1, 1993 in Europe and March 2nd in North America, “Everybody Else Is Doing  It, So Why Can’t We?” was recorded at the mythical Windmill Lane Studios in Dublin, Ireland

Last Thursday, we learned that the mater tapes of this album, which could include possible outtakes and unreleased tracks, are facing destruction as Windmill Lane Studios appealed to musicians who have worked there to collect them before next May or else they’ll be destroyed.

The Cranberries began the recording of their first album in January 1992 with Pearse Gilmore who previously worked with them on their Xeric label material. However, the band was not happy with the results and the work was scrapped. “Unhappy with the results – Gilmore had cluttered the mixes with dance beats and industrial-style guitar – and barely on speaking term with each other, the band scrapped the tracks and fired Gilmore” (Rolling Stone Magazine, March 23, 1995, page 60). After hiring a new manager, the band started working again on the album, this time with producer Stephen Street.

Everybody Else… peaked at #18 on the Billboard 200 and stayed on this chart for 130 weeks (more than 2 years!). After a rough start in the UK, the album reached #1 of Album Charts and stayed in chart for 86 weeks. The album sold almost 8 millions copies worldwide, making it the second best selling Cranberries album after “No Need To Argue”.

The album was reissued in 2002 with its singles’ b-sides as bonus tracks.
Check out our Everybody Else… album page for more details about this record.

Also, two nice recent reviews of the album, one written last year and the other just a few days ago. They look back at the album which became a 90’s classic:

The Cranberries master tapes face destruction

February 28, 2013  |  4 Comments  |  by Luc  |  The Cranberries

Time is actually ticking out!!
Legendary Windmill Lane Studios in Dublin has issued an appeal to musicians who have worked there to collect their master tapes, among them some of The Cranberries recordings, or else they’ll be destroyed.

Some of the old tapes, including work by The Cranberries, on display at Windmill Lane Studios

“We’re appealing to any artists who’ve worked here using two-inch multitrack tapes to come in and reclaim them because we’re in the process of disposing of these tapes” Ian Brady of Pulse told RTÉ Ten. Windmill is now owned by Pulse Recording College.

The Cranberries recorded “Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We?“, “To The Faithful Departed“, “Wake Up and Smell The Coffee” and part of “Bury The Hatchet” at Windmill Lane studios. Who said everything?

Many of the tapes are either demos, master tape back-ups or discarded takes. Windmill Lane Studios will start to destroy the unclaimed tapes on May 7th.

Let’s hope that the band sees this and reclaims their tapes to save them for posterity! Wouldn’t it be nice to have some alternate takes or unreleased tracks just in time to celebrate “Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We?” 20th anniversary this year?

The Cranberries mentioned on “Family Guy” cartoon series

February 12, 2013  |  1 Comments  |  by Luc  |  The Cranberries

In this quiet period of time in Cranberries-land, here’s a fun tidbit of information: The Cranberries were briefly mentioned on last Sunday’s episode of hit cartoon series “Family Guy”.

The Cranberries were mentioned among tons of other bands as being part of the soundtrack of a fake Valentine’s Day movie staring the cast of Family Guy. But don’t look forward to hear The Cranberries on any Family Guy soundtrack as this was just a joke, Family-Guy style!

One-year anniversary contest (update #2)

January 28, 2013  |  Comments Off on One-year anniversary contest (update #2)  |  by Camille  |  Other News

Last update about our one-year anniversary contest:
First, we’d like to thank all those who participated, you were more than expected!!

The answer to the question was of course “Ode To My Family”, which most of you got right, although many got confused with “Roses”, a song Dolores dedicated to her father. One of you also answered “No Need To Argue”, a 1994 song which is very likely to be written about Dolores’ relationship with first boyfriend Mike Mahoney (although it has never been confirmed by any of the band members).

Click here to read the interview excerpt we posted in November in which Dolores explains she can’t sing “Ode To My Family” anymore because the song reminds her too much of her father.

Anyway, congratulations to our 10 winners. Note that one of them decided to let someone else have his poster which had us drawing an 11th name by lot.

“Fire & Soul” is the third single… in Russia

January 27, 2013  |  2 Comments  |  by Jury  |  The Cranberries

It looks like some of the local labels distributing The Cranberries’ new album didn’t give up on a promotion of “Roses” in some regions. Ten months after the album release, “Fire & Soul” becomes the third promo single in Russia.
According to TopHitRu.com (a website that officially provides new promo singles for Russian radio stations and aggregates an information about the rotation of every single on Russian radios), “Fire & Soul” was made available for broadcasting on Russian radio stations on December 5, 2012. Since then it was played on 32 stations (for example, “Tomorow” was played on 44 stations). Full statistics of the track’s rotation is available here. (link no longer available)

Two previous promo singles from “Roses” released in Russia (Tomorrow and Show Me) were aimed for the rock radio stations, but never got much attention. Unlike them, “Fire & Soul” is aimed for the radios playing in CHR format (Contemporary Hit Radio) which means that, maybe, the local distributor is trying to showcase a different side of The Cranberries’ talent.

“Roses” is distributed by Soyuz Music in Russia. The album peaked at #24 on the Russian charts.

“Fire & Soul” joins other songs from “Roses” released as promo singles in different regions. Last spring “Raining In My Heart” was chosen as the second single in Italy and Ireland (and maybe other countries?) and “Waiting In Walthamstow” was released as promo single in the United Kingdom last summer. “Show Me” also got some airplay in the United States, Greece, Poland and Russia. And, of course, “Tomorrow” was the first official single released in many countries all over the world.

If you’ve heard The Cranberries’ songs from “Roses” in your country, let us know in the comments!

The official community closed again (?)

January 25, 2013  |  4 Comments  |  by Luc  |  The Cranberries

The Cranberries official community is not accessible since yesterday.
Technical problem or second shut down in less than a year?

The community website first closed last June after the band went on a summer break due to Dolores health problems. The site was put back online in September, few weeks before the band’s European tour. It is unknown if this accessibility problem is due to the a technical problem or if the band decided to shut down the site once again. The community did not seem to recover from the first shut down as few people joined the discussion forum since September. Is this the end, time will tell…

Thanks to Javi for the info.
