In The End – Tracklist confirmed

January 3, 2019  |  6 Comments  |  by Webmaster  |  The Cranberries

Our team just had a look at the French SACEM website (French professional association collecting payments of artists’ rights and distributing the rights to the original songwriters, composers, and music publishers) where the song titles unveiled yesterday by Itzik are indeed all listed, which confirms that these songs will indeed feature on the band’s upcoming album In The End!
See screenshots below:

Interestingly, when browsing the To The Faithful Departed era on the SACEM website, we also noticed a song we had never heard of before: “Angel” !!!

In The End – tracklist revealed? (UPDATED)

January 2, 2019  |  8 Comments  |  by Webmaster  |  The Cranberries

A fan called Itzik just posted the below message on our website, revealing the possible “In The End” album tracklist in no particular order (as we already know from a recent Noel Hogan interview that In The End is to be the last song of the album)

The following is a list (in no particular order) of 11 newly registered song titles for the new album.
Please keep in mind that not all might end up on the album and some could be just working titles.

All Over Now (O’Riordan/Hogan)
A Place I Know (O’Riordan/Hogan)
Illusion (O’Riordan/Hogan)
Crazy Heart (O’Riordan/Hogan)
The Pressure (O’Riordan/Hogan)
In The End (O’Riordan/Hogan)
Summer Song (O’Riordan/Brodbeck)
Lost (O’Riordan)
Wake Me When It’s Over (O’Riordan)
Catch Me If You Can (O’Riordan)
Got It (O’Riordan)

BMG are still planning an “early 2019” release.

Happy new year everyone!!
Itzik

IMPORTANT: We do not yet know what his source is, nor if this is official or not, although it is very likely these information may have leaked on the Internet in the past hours.

More soon as we’re investigating, and a major thank you to Itzik for his comment.

UPDATE – JANUARY 3

Although the source hasn’t yet been revealed, we are inclined to think this tracklist is definitely real as Dan Brodbeck was indeed writing a song with Dolores shortly before she passed as confirmed in his January 2018 CBC interview.
Moreover, the track Illusion does ring a bell as a demo song sharing the same name was accidentally uploaded onto JETLAG.NYC’s Soundcloud account in November 2017…

“Íosa” studio version unveiled

September 27, 2018  |  8 Comments  |  by Webmaster  |  The Cranberries

History: clashmusic.com just released for the first time ever the studio version of “Íosa” as a teaser of Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We? 25th Anniversary Edition.

Known as the only track written by Dolores O’Riordan in Irish Gaelic, “Íosa” had only been known through 1990s live recordings of Cranberries performances that did not enable lyrics to be deciphered. It was unknown whether the song had ever been recorded in studio or not… Today is thus a day to be remembered!

For those who are ready to get spoiled and be overwhelmed, here is the MASTERPIECE:

EDIT#1: Available on Spotify and Apple Music from Sept 28th on… meaning if it’s not midnight yet in your country, you’ll have to wait a couple of hours more!

EDIT#2: Official release date: September 28, 2018

Our interview with French Director Olivier Dahan

September 17, 2018  |  5 Comments  |  by Webmaster  |  The Cranberries

We may know Olivier Dahan as the director of La Vie en Rose, Le Petit Poucet or Grace de Monaco, but to us, he is the iconic director of four music videos for The Cranberries as well as one from Dolores O’Riordan’s first solo album.

A few weeks ago, Olivier Dahan was kind enough to answer our questions and revisit his fruitful collaboration with The Cranberries.

Cranberries World: First, let’s start by talking about your first project with the band, how was your first collaboration in 1996, on Salvation?

Olivier Dahan: I worked at the time at ‘Bandits’, the production company owned by JB Mondino. The band contacted me and left me carte blanche for this clip. Dolores had sent me the lyrics telling me about the main theme: a song against drugs. At the time I would always start working with preparatory drawings: so I began drawing this scary clown, then other characters that I placed in some frames that made sense with the lyrics of the song.

Two of Olivier Dahan’s drawings he kindly agreed on sharing with us
(More drawings to be uploaded soon on our “Salvation” video page)

CW: How was your work received by the band, specifically Dolores?

OD: Dolores was more involved than the rest of the band, because she was the one writing the lyrics – but also because of her strong personality. At the end of the day, most of my exchanges at the time of the development of the concept were almost exclusively with her. She would then debrief the rest of the band on the ideas that she and I were contemplating.

CW: What were her expectations for the Salvation video?

OD: Beyond the anti-drug theme, one of the first things that she told me when we talked about the concept of Salvation‘s video was that she wanted her bones to be seen. She liked provocative or disturbing things sometimes. I understood that she was ready to go far and, as a matter of fact, our video was censored in some countries: we thus released a “light” version where scenes of violence, like the scene where the parents are tied on a chair, were blurred.
In general, Dolores was very attentive and wanted her clips not to be formatted. She always tended to want to go beyond mainstream.

CW: Your second collaboration with The Cranberries was in 1999 for the video for their fourth album’s first single, Promises. How was this concept born? Tell us about the idea of having the ‘Robins des Bois’ in the casting.

OD: I wanted a gap between the seriousness of the lyrics and an almost burlesque visual. The Cranberries did not know the ‘Robins des Bois’ and, as far as I’m concerned, I had only seen some of their sketchs. I believe they were only starting out back then, but I thought they could fit what I had in mind. That being said, I have been able to work again with Jean-Paul Rouve or Maurice Barthélémy since, who I both really appreciate. Maïwenn is also featured in this video. She plays the role of the scarecrow.

CW: And what about the atmosphere on the set with the band?

OD: The atmosphere was always very pleasant. I was given lots of freedom for creation; and the band would place their entire confidence in me. Their success, at the time, would allow them to be granted significant budgets for their clips and therefore to have lots of fun. They were always very enthusiastic and excited about our projects. We would get along quite well actually, each of them were very friendly. We spent a fair amount of time together later in Toronto when shooting the video for Animal Instinct. We would go out, attend gigs together, etc.

CW: Animal Instinct is quite different from the two other clips we’ve discussed so far. Where did you get the inspiration for that video?

OD: On this third collaboration with the band, I wanted to do something much more down to earth, with a direct link to the lyrics. This time, the shooting lasted for almost a week, in similar conditions to that of a movie, in Toronto. We worked out an entire story, set up a casting to find the actors… I wanted something that looked realistic. When it was broadcasted, we had to submit an alternative edit of the videoclip, a version that did not feature the intro, for MTV. This story with those kids who are removed from their mother was obviously something somehow too harrowing for them!

CW: At last, the band called on you once again in 2002 to work on the This Is The Day videoclip. What was the idea behind this?

OD: The goal was clearly to make a spectacular video with powerful images. In the end, it was not the link with the lyrics that mattered most here, but the aesthetic side with a rather baroque universe.

Preview of the storyboard of “This Is The Day” that Olivier Dahan kindly shared with us
(See more images taken from “This Is The Day” storyboard on the video page by clicking here)

CW: Dolores would always have those looks, and different haircut in your videoclips…

OD: Something was very clear on each of our collaboration: she had to be transformed, change her appearance. These transformations would motivate her a lot. On each of our collaborations, she wanted her look to be completely different from all the previous ones. Actually, among the first questions she would ask whenever we would start working on a new video concept was: “Alright, so what’s my look on this one? Which costume? Which make-up? Which hairstyle?” That would amuse her a lot. Gigi Lepage, the designer I work with, loved working with her.

CW: In 2007, you worked on the videoclip of When We Were Young, from Dolores’ first solo album. How was this collaboration different from those you had experienced with the band?

OD: Actually, it was not any different. The one main difference was the budget! The challenge here was to find some aesthetic ideas that could fit within this limitation. We shot the video in Paris, with sequence-shots, within a day. We made several sequence-shots this way, and chose the right shot together, there was no montage. Shooting started in the morning, and by the end of the day, the clip was done.

CW: Throughout all of these years, did you ever get to see the band play live?

OD: I did, several times! They had even asked me to film one of their concerts back then, though, unfortunately, I was already working on other projects at that time.

CW: Last question, which of these videoclips would you consider your favourite among all of those that we’ve discussed?

OD: The one that marked me most is probably Salvation, because it was our first collaboration and the concept worked very well. This Is The Day was also a beautiful collaboration: I produced this clip with Hervé Humbert, and worked with a graphic designer, Marc Latil, who I appreciate a lot; and I think the result is very powerful, visually speaking. The concept actually evolved throughout the process. During the shooting, we had not yet considered projecting images in space. We only got to improvise this later.

BREAKING: Noel, Mike and Fergal’s first interview since Dolores passing, revealing the name of their ultimate album (UPDATED)

September 13, 2018  |  8 Comments  |  by Webmaster  |  Dolores O'Riordan, The Cranberries

Today, The Guardian published the first interview of the lads since January 2018.

As we know, the band has been avoiding media interviews and requests to take part in commemorative projects these last months, asking for people to respect their wishes for privacy at this very difficult time.

However, as the 25th anniversary edition of “Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We?” is about to be released this October along with The Cranberries final album called “THIS IS THE END” that will be released in 2019, the band spoke today for the first time to The Guardian at Strand hotel, Limerick, discussing the “challenges of working without [Dolores]”

Click here to read the article where the band says that their ultimate album will be “really strong lyrically“.
They indeed explain that “she always said she found it hard to write songs when she was happy. She always said: put a bit of misery in her life and it was easier.

The band also confirms that “This Is The End” will be their last album:
“We will do this album and then that will be it,” [Noel] adds. “There is no need to continue.”

The Guardian treats us with the first photoshoot of the band without Dolores, heartbreakingly describing the scene:
The band step out on to the balcony to do the photoshoot. Noel stood out here with O’Riordan the last time he saw her. This is new for them: no frontwoman, no idea how to stand, to pose, without their focal point. ‘With Dolores, doing pictures was so easy, because you knew exactly what to do’ he smiles. ‘Just all get behind her’.

A preview of our ‘Cranberries Mystery Tour’

September 12, 2018  |  1 Comments  |  by Webmaster  |  Other News

Last week, just ahead of what would have marked Dolores O’Riordan’s birthday – and sadly, the date that was also chosen by the coroner to make the inquest public – we encouraged everyone to remember and celebrate the beautiful talent that she was by focusing on the music, sharing memories and spreading love.

Alan Martin, who we can fairly describe as the first ever Cranberries fan, took us at our words!
While some members of our team were in Limerick city to pay tribute to Dolores, Alan offered to treat us to a “Cranberries Mystery Tour” that would lead us to different venues where the band performed in their early days, schools they had attended as pupils, and Churches where they got married.

Most of the photos we took during this special tour will enable us to illustrate the concerts pages that represent the shows that they played during the 1990s. However, only a very few of these places are still standing today as they did back then.

During this tour, we were escorted to:

– The Flag Café (first ever show, 18 November 1989, TCSU with Niall Quinn – now closed and walled)

– The Crescent Hall

– The Glentworth (today’s Pery’s hotel)

– The Theatre Royal (closed)

– The Jetland Center (now a shopping center)

– People’s Park (where ‘Lark in the Park’ took place)

– The Parkway

– The Two Mile Inn

– The Speakeasy (today’s Texas Steak Out)

– The Empire Records shop where the band launched their debut album (today’s Centra shop)

– The Savoy, Top Floor (now entirely rebuilt)

– The Cruise’s Royal Hotel (first ever show with Dolores on 14 July 1990, the building is now gone)

But that wasn’t all!
We were honored to be welcomed at the Moyross ‘Corpus Christi Primary School’ where the very talented choir (who had sung earlier this year at Thomond Park for the Munster game, as well as on RTÉ One ahead of the All Ireland final) performed “Dreams” for us!!!

What a beautiful reminder of the impact of the band’s music on the upcoming generations, proving that music will, without a doubt, be the legacy that Dolores has left for all time.

Here’s our video to share this incredible and very emotional experience with Cranberries fans from all over the world :

Corpus Christi Choir Moyross – “Dreams”

Last, we were privileged to be joined by Professor Eoin Devereux at Limerick University, where he teaches, to learn more on the History of the band and visit some more places that are still full of memories:

– The Stables Club

– The University of Limerick room where ‘Treaty 300’ took place

– The Irish Chamber Orchestra

We’ve truly been touched by the hospitality we received in Limerick, and we treasure those lovely moments that we were privileged to share with everyone there. It is our sincere hope that by sharing this small review of our trip, fans throughout the world will feel the love the Limerick people have for the beautiful soul that Dolores undeniably was.

We would like to extend a very warm THANK YOU to Alan Martin, the Moyross Corpus Christi Choir, and Professor Eoin Devereux for filling our hearts with so much history and beautiful memories at a most needed time.

The album will be released on 19 October 2018 and seems to be featuring a large booklet along with some never seen before printed photos of the band:

Click here to preorder on Amazon UK. Other Amazon countries should appear pretty soon.

As a reminder the tracklist has already been revealed a few days ago, click here to know more about the audio content of the boxset.

Additionally, HMV confirms there will be a 2CD edition with only the content of Disc 1 & 2.
One may note that the remastered album will be released on CD and LP as well (1-disc only for both):

It seems unlikely a vinyl boxset will see the light of day but we never know…

A new boxset featuring 4 CDs appeared these last days on Amazon (Italy, France and UK), it’s non available for sale nor pre-order yet and will be released by Universal/Island. The price is £40.75 that is to say, more or less €45 and $53.

No doubt this is the first preview we’ve got of the Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We? 25th Anniversary Edition that is to be released in September.

  12. False

From what we see, we can imagine that:
Disc 1 is the remastered version of the album
Disc 2 features demo/studio versions of the songs (1-10?), as well as the Uncertain album (11-14?) & the Water Circle tape (16-19?), and the two never heard before demo versions of Dreams that Noel Hogan recently found on a tape (“very first demo” of Dreams that isn’t mixed as Noel took the cassette home before any mixing was done, and a “pop mix” featuring a different intro and outro)
Disc 3 could be a live concert (or live tracks) from the 93/94 era that very likely looks like the July 31st 1994 concert at Feile Tipperary Festival from tracks 4-16 though from what we know, the performance was starting with Sunday instead of Put Me Down/Dreams/Uncertain…
Disc 4 looks like radio sessions tracks starting with the 1991 Dave Fanning Show (1-4), the 1992 John Peel Show (5-8), and the 1993 Dave Fanning Show (9-12)

Thanks to Stephane for the finding and to Edward for his analysis of Disc 3!

UPDATE – AUGUST 28

– It seems a 2 CD version will be available as well as Amazon.es and Amazon.fr both listed a Barclay release with Disc 1 and Disc 2 content only.
Will there be more versions?

– Concerning disc 3, some of our readers are saying the first 3 tracks (just before the Féile 94 show) could be from Cork Rocks 1991. Until now, only “Uncertain” and “Dreams” have surfaced taken from the Dave Fanning Show. Definitely a high probability!!

– On Amazon UK the price decreased, it’s now £34.48

“I Heart The Cranberries” – review, photos and videos

July 10, 2018  |  Comments Off on “I Heart The Cranberries” – review, photos and videos  |  by Webmaster  |  Dolores O'Riordan, The Cranberries

Back from Limerick where some members of the Cranberries World team were privileged and moved to be part of the “I Heart The Cranberries” concert at Dolans where Limerick city paid tribute to Dolores O’Riordan on July 5, 2018.

Dolans pub

Ros I Measc Lusanna An Chromchinn

As you may know, the event was organized by Limerick musician Emma Langford, who decided in January, a few days after sharing the stage with Noel Hogan at a charity event for a suicide and self-harm prevention center, that Limerick needed to honour Dolores memory: “after her tragic and untimely death I – among many, no doubt – wanted to make sure a tribute happened here in Dolores’ home town, and it had to be done right”.

All profits from the event went to Adapt House, a domestic violence support service, as well as Limerick Mental Health which was recommended to Emma by Noel Hogan himself as this is a cause he emphasized Dolores would care deeply about.

As announced in a statement from The Cranberries on March 9th, none of the band members were attending the concert at Dolans although they explained they were “touched and honored” that this tribute to the band and their music was taking place:

However, some of the band’s acquaintances attended, as pointed out by Hot Press who noticed that Niall Quinn, original member of The Cranberry Saw Us, was there.

The evening started with an instrumental version of “Zombie” performed by the duo of violinists Maria Ryan & Lucia MacPartlin.
Emma Langford then presented the event before giving the floor to The Cranberries fanclubs, with a small word from our team and a speech by our friends from Cranberries Italia, who, let’s recall, raised over €2,000 for Limerick Learning Hub – again, a project recommended by Noel Hogan – in order to give back to Dolores’ hometown the kindness Dolores gave to her fan community.
Emma was later joined on stage by Hannah Nic Gearailt and Sara Ryan to launch the gig with their performance of “When You’re Gone”, setting an emotional tone for the evening to come…
Watch the video below:

SETLIST & PERFORMERS:

PART 1:
01. Zombie (instrumental) – Maria Ryan, Lucia MacPartlin
02. When You’re Gone – Hannah Nic Gearailt, Sara Ryan, Emma Langford
03. Twenty One – Synead Toomey, Kayleigh O’Brien Music
04. No Need to Argue – Tracy Bruen
05. Dreaming My Dreams – Louise O’Flanagan, Sarah Croker Music
06. Sunday – Claire Heffernan, Hannah O’Brien
07. Yeat’s Grave – NIMF
08. Put Me Down – Jenny McMahon (DeLorean Suite)
09. Linger – The Brad Pitt Light Orchestra

PART 2:
10. Pretty – MZKA (Jane Fraser)
11. Animal Instinct – Roisin El Cherif
12. Why? – Susie Q
13. Salvation – Siân Brown Music
14. Ode To My Family – Grainne Hunt Music
15. Daffodil Lament – “The Cranberrinis” Jean McGlynn, Norma Lowney, Jessica Bray, Jean Wallace
16. Dreams – Niamh Farrell (Ham Sandwich)
17. Zombie – all artists

House band:
Drums: Shane Wixted
Bass: Lesley-Ann Halvey
Guitar: Eoin Culhane
Guitar: The Danny Lanham Trio
Strings: Strung (Maria Ryan & Lucia MacPartlin)

As shown above, the event was divided in two parts, first one focusing on soft songs with an emphasis on acoustic renditions of the songs as opposed to the second part that saw full band performances of the band’s hits – apart from a barbershop quartet performance of “Daffodil Lament”. Duration, approximately 150 minutes (including the 15/20 minutes break between two parts).

Thumbs up to all the artists for the work done on their arrangements, especially as we remind everyone that they were all volunteering their time for this tribute.
Some songs stood out from the artists’ reappropriation of the original Cranberries songs, such as NIMF’s electronica and ambient version of “Yeat’s Grave” or Jane Fraser’s rendition of “Pretty” sampling bits of an interview given by Dolores, “I Just wanna be Dolores”.

NIMF – Yeat’s Grave

MZKA (Jane Fraser) – Pretty

People will also remember Ann Blake (from The Brad Pitt Light Orchestra) who introduced “Linger” by telling the crowd of her experience singing at Dolores O’Riordan wedding with Don Burton back in July 1994, as Dolores had invited students from her former school Laurel Hill Coláiste – among whom Ann was – to perform for her big day. She was lucky enough to witness Dolores perform “Panis Angelicus” on this occasion.

The Brad Pitt Light Orchestra – Linger

Like a proper Cranberries concert, the gig ended with a fantastic rendition of “Dreams” by the ‘1994 Dolores look-alike’ Niamh Farrell who was later joined on stage by all artists to perform a final, powerful and very emotional version of “Zombie” which the crowd sang along at the top of their lungs to remind, “loud and clear”, how Irish people and worldwide fans LOVE this band.
Watch the video below:

Some cool pictures of the event taken by photographer Dolf Patijn have already been published, click here to see the whole 102-photos album posted on the Facebook account of www.ilovelimerick.com.

Suzie Q – Why?

Roisin El Cherif – Animal Instinct

All artists on stage – Zombie

Major thanks to Emma, the Dolans Pub and the Limerick LGBT Pride for giving life to this event and celebrating the life and music of Dolores O’Riordan & The Cranberries, fans are very grateful for this beautiful – and indeed cathartic – experience.

Also, special thanks to all the fans from Italy, Spain, Sweden, France and Cork who joined us for our preshow fan gathering!
Our memories are her legacy, let’s keep her alive, all together ❤

Update on The Cranberries’ upcoming album recording

May 22, 2018  |  7 Comments  |  by Webmaster  |  The Cranberries

A month after The Cranberries have started recording their new album for which Dolores had already recorded vocals, it seems the band is currently putting the finishing touches and it should now be a matter of days before they’re done with this new record.

The recordings started on April 16th at Kore Studios, in London, where the band worked until May 4th.
Studio pics during this session interestingly show the use of a bass clarinet.

After a week break, the band came back one last time at Kore Studios on May 14th to add strings, and then moved on the following day to Stephen Street’s Bunker studio in the 13 studios complex in West London.

There, they were joined for a couple of days by Johanna Wiseley (Cranitch) who fans are familiar with as she’s been working with the band as backing singer/keyboard player on tour since 2012.

Johanna posted a photo on Instagram yesterday, stating that she had finished putting the backing vocals down, and confirmed on the occasion that this album should unsurprisingly be the “final” album.

Although listening to this record will be very difficult for most of us, fans, we’re feeling very thankful to the band and their crew who are devoting themselves to giving life to Dolores’ last tracks, as they feel this is “what [She] would have wanted“.

All pictures below were posted on The Cranberries Instagram account and were taken at Kore Studios in London between April 18th and May 4th:

RARE AUDIO: Two Mile Inn, Limerick, 15 April 1993

May 11, 2018  |  1 Comments  |  by Webmaster  |  The Cranberries

Early years rarities, episode #2 from Alan’s collection!
Following the upload of his audio recording from 1991 concert at Limerick’s Parkway last February, here’s a second gem surfacing almost 25 years after it was recorded. Again, Alan recorded this one himself on his walkman back in 1993 at Two Mile Inn, Limerick.

Alan purposely chose not to stand at the front for this recording, as opposed to The Parkway, in order to try and get a better sound; he thus stood close to the FOH mixing desk. It remains an audience recording so the quality is pretty similar to the 1991 recording. The recording features the complete show, only a few seconds before the encore are missing as Alan had to flip the cassette, but there’s no song missing.

Tracklist:
01. Like You Used To
02. Pretty
03. Sunday
04. The Icicle Melts
05. Away
06. Linger
07. Reason
08. How
09. I Don’t Need
10. Put Me Down
11. I Will Always
12. Not Sorry
13. Waltzing Back
14. Dreams
15. Wanted
16. Zombie
17. Still Cant…
________________
18. Liar
19. False

Alan’s mastertape

What’s particularly striking on this recording is the never heard before early version of “Zombie”. Obviously this was one of the first time (maybe the very first time?) the song was played live in concert.
Dolores introduces the track simply mentioning it is “another new song, it’s called Zombie”.
The song does sound very similar to that we know, still it features some interesting differences:
“Zombie” is actually played quite fast, kinda like a 33rpm at the 45rpm speed.
Dolores sings alternative lyrics in the 2nd verse of the song “another mothers broken heart has hardly spoken”. Also, the line “with their tanks, and their guns, and their bombs” happens to be “with your tanks, and your guns, and your bombs” at that time.
One may note that Dolores doesn’t exactly sing as she does on the album version and the words “in your head” and the ultimate “Zombie” are for instance sung very softly compared to what we’re used to.

It’s funny to note that what will turn out to become The Cranberries biggest hit was barely applauded that night. Yet, the crowd, which as you can hear was very talkative on that night, does pause to pay attention during 3 to 4 particular songs, and “Zombie” is of them; definitely a good sign 😉

Thank you Alan, everyone can now listen to the earliest live version known to this day of the masterpiece “Zombie”. (The previous earliest version of the song was the Paris radio show “The Black Sessions” recorded on 3 May 1993).

The rest of the set also includes songs which were rarely played live after 1993 like “Away”, “I don’t Need”, “Reason” or “I will always”.
Most of the other classic songs played on that night sound very close to the album versions we’re all familiar with (as opposed to The Parkway show where songs rather sound very fresh and almost like demos than the final versions), which is not too surprising as The Cranberries first album was just a few weeks old at the time.
All in all, a great boot to listen to, enjoy it!!!

Everybody Else’s 25th anniversary album likely to be released mid September

May 2, 2018  |  4 Comments  |  by Webmaster  |  The Cranberries

As the May Bank Holiday weekend is getting closer, Todayfm published an audio interview of Noel Hogan last Monday, ahead of the talk he his to give with Stephen Street at VINYL festival in Dublin this Saturday.
Quite a moving interview, as this is the first time we hear one of the boys since Dolores’ passing.

Noel indeed chats to Muireann O’Connell, pleasantly coming back on the early days memories.

Asked about the 25th anniversary edition of “Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We?”, Noel says the album should now be released around mid September!

As for The Cranberries new album due for release in 2019, Noel says there are still 3 weeks of recording coming in London, where the band has been for 2 weeks already.
He explains the album will be a combination of some tracks he had started writing with Dolores last summer, with some others she had already written herself before.
The lads are thus turning these demos on laptop into proper Cranberries song as they feel these tracks can make a “strong enough album” and that this is “what Dolores would have wanted“.

Again, our team is sending them all our support as this must obviously not be easy.

It’s great to know they are surrounded by the “original team” from the early days to do this all together.

We love you guys!

Dolores O’ Riordan’s inquest removed from schedule

April 3, 2018  |  10 Comments  |  by Webmaster  |  Dolores O'Riordan

Irish Mirror just announced this morning that “Dolores O’ Riordan’s long-awaited inquest that was due to start today in court has now been removed from schedule”

They add that

The inquest into the death of the Irish star had originally opened five days after she was found dead, but was adjourned until Tuesday April 3 so the Coroner could await the results of medical tests.

However, an announcement from the coroner’s court revealed there will be no hearing today and that an inquest date is yet to be set.

No reason has been given for the change.

They remind that Dolores was

“staying at a hotel in central London when on Monday 15 January she was found unresponsive in her room.
The London Ambulance Service was contacted and verified her death at the scene.
Subsequently the Met Police attended and they determined the death to be non-suspicious.”

Limerick official book of condolence presented to Dolores O’ Riordan’s family

March 29, 2018  |  4 Comments  |  by Webmaster  |  Dolores O'Riordan

The Limerick Leader reports this morning that official book of condolence signed by 16,000 persons was presented to the Dolores family yesterday in Limerick.

Mayor Stephen Keary with family members – Photos: Adrian Butler

Dolores’ mother, Eileen, joined by Dolores’ brothers, Terry, Joe, and Donal with his wife Stephanie, and Dolores’ niece Katie, told the newspaper:

“I feel so happy that the people of Limerick were so good, and from all over Ireland and the world. I can’t believe the reaction from everybody, the love that poured out, and the support from everybody”

She also commented:

“Getting this book is another step forward. It’s hard, but it’s another step in moving on. I can’t believe that all those names are there, all those people. It’s at home I’ll be thinking of it. And I will read every one of them in my own time”

[…]

“I read some of the letters, and everyone says how she helped them through the dark moments in their lives. I really feel she’s happy now. I go to her grave, but I don’t find anything there. I feel that her spirit is around all the time. She was that type of person anyway, she would come into the room, even as a child, and she would grab the attention.”

Mayor Stephen Keary explained this was the biggest book of condolence that was ever presented by the authority.

Cranberries Italia invites fans to support the Learning Hub Limerick in memory of Dolores

March 25, 2018  |  3 Comments  |  by Webmaster  |  Dolores O'Riordan

Our friends from the Italian fan community of The Cranberries are calling out for fans to honour Dolores O’ Riordan by supporting a cause dear to heart.

Indeed, Cranberries Italia is uniting with the organisation Learning Hub Limerick that provides a safe, welcoming and stimulating learning environment for youngsters to reach their full potential. The organisation works with local providers of educational services, families and young people to develop high-level resolutions in responses to situations of educational disadvantage and school drop-out.

As we know, Dolores has shown on more than one occasion how children mattered to her, emphasising the reality in war zones, speaking of children suffering and sickness or environmental injustices.

Cranberries Italia is thus encouraging fans to leave a trace in Dolores city, as a symbol of our passion for her art and generous personality, by supporting the young musical talents of Limerick.
They are raising funds on the below link, which will be running up to June 20th, in order to help Learning Hub Limerick to finance, over the summer, an instructive musical program for the children with a series of songwriting workshops: https://www.produzionidalbasso.com/project/italia-loves-limerick-due-comunita-si-incontrano-in-memoria-di-dolores-oriordan/

The Cranberries World team is happy to support this initiative and encourages everyone to get involved.

More on the “I Heart Cranberries” tribute event at Dolans

March 9, 2018  |  2 Comments  |  by Webmaster  |  Dolores O'Riordan, The Cranberries

Both Limerick Leader and Hot Press have recently spoken of the “I Heart Cranberries” tribute event due to take place at Dolans, Limerick on July 5th in aid of Adapt House and Limerick mental health service.

More than 20 artists are to be announced in the upcoming days, but Hot Press has already revealed some of them: “Gráinne Hunt, The Brad Pitt Light Orchestra, Jane Fraser, Niamh Farrell, Roisin El Cherif, Anne Rynne and Susie Q to name but a handful

Singer and songwriter Emma Langfort, who’s organising the event, explained to Limerick Leader:

When Dolores died, everyone was shocked and saddened and we all wanted to do something to pay tribute to her

I thought it would be fantastic to hold a massive event that pulled people together from all over the country and that also gave people a chance to come from elsewhere in the world to visit Dolores’ hometown.

I dropped Noel Hogan (Dolores’ Craberries bandmate) a message and asked if there was a cause that was close to her heart and he said a mental health organistion would have meant a lot to her.”

Ticket are now on sale on Dolans.ie

“Everybody Else Is Doing It…” special 25th anniversary edition album to be released later this year

March 7, 2018  |  3 Comments  |  by Webmaster  |  The Cranberries

The Cranberries just published on their website cranberries.com as well as their socials a new moving statement announcing that they were initially planning on releasing a special 25th anniversary of their first album “Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We?” this month through Universal Music.

The project has been understandably put on hold since Dolores’ passing, but the band has decided to finish what they had started with Dolores, and get this special edition out “later this year”.

This will feature remastered versions of the tracks we know, along with unreleased material and bonus material from this early 90s era of their debut album.

The band also uses the occasion to remind fans they’re planning on completing the recording of the new album which they had been working on during the past months, and for which Dolores had already recorded the vocals.

The CW Team would like to send Noel, Mike and Ferg all their love and support as we presume this won’t be easy for them.

We love you guys!

A Cranberries mural on Landmark building wall in Limerick?

March 7, 2018  |  2 Comments  |  by Webmaster  |  Dolores O'Riordan, The Cranberries

Yesterday, the Limerick Leader published an article to let the people know that Limerick City and County Council would like to hear on everyone’s idea for a new mural/painting to be placed at one of the city centre’s key spot.

The local authority is seeking ideas from members of the public ahead of commissioning a painting for the gable wall of Speaker’s Corner at the junction of the Hyde Road and the Lower Carey’s Road.

While the building itself has been bought by the Mid-West Simon Community and is being converted into apartments, the Council has been given permission for the mural.

In particular, designers at the Council are seeking ideas for the mural which will have a connection to its location and history.

The mural, to be visible from the People’s Park, will be designed and painted by Bold Details […]

Maria Donoghue, the executive architect with Limerick City and County Council said: “This is a great opportunity for the people of Limerick to get involved in creating new artwork for their city”.

The mural will be unveiled at the beginning of the summer if weather permits it.

While ideas are to be submitted by email to maria.donoghue@limerick.ie or on Twitter using the following hashtag #SpeakersMural, some people are already suggesting to go for a Cranberries/Dolores O’ Riordan tribute.

If, like us, you feel like supporting this idea, we invite you to email or tweet the local authorities to let them know that The Cranberries deserve this spot.

Let’s make it happen #TheCranberriesMural #SpeakersMural !!!

RARE AUDIO: The Parkway, Limerick, October 3, 1991

February 20, 2018  |  22 Comments  |  by Webmaster  |  The Cranberries

As you know, we recently had the opportunity to digitalize recordings from Limerick fan Alan Martin’s early years collection. As he says, “I collected everything I could get my hands on over the 1st couple of years”. We can fairly say that Alan must be the first Cranberries fan, thus owning a unique collection.

The first time he saw the “The Cranberry Saw Us” live was on 25 October 1990 at Cruises in Limerick. A shy singer, who he could barely hear, yet, from this, “average performance”, “Dreams” caught his attention!
Alan then got to witness the band getting more confidence on stage as he saw them twice later that year, going from support act to headline. As the band grew better and better, he kept on following them in 1991 from “The Cranberrys”, to “The Cranberries” and it became obvious to him the band would get big, especially on that night of October 3rd 1991, at Limerick’s Parkway, where they gave, he believes, a perfect performance in front of a 400 people crowd. Incredibly enough, and for our greatest pleasure, Alan decided to record this performance on his walkman, and is sharing it with the fan community today.

Here’s the YouTube link to discover this absolute gem:

The recording is approximately 57 min long. The bootleg appears to be a complete recording (including the encore and the outro!) as Alan used an extended 120 min tape, with 60 minutes per side, which did not require him to cut the record at any time. It is, of course, an audience recording, which means that those who are not too familiar with this kind of recordings may find that it leaves something to be desired, yet the voice is very clear and the rarities this recording features make it exceptional.
Let’s note Alan was standing front row, in front of Mike, so the sound he recorded was probably more like that of the feedbacks from the band’s amp than that of the venue’s PA system. This won’t prevent you from enjoying the show and appreciate the unusual versions of the songs we all love so much.

The Parkway 1991 – Alan’s mastertape

Interestingly, Alan’s treasure is the second earliest audience recording of a Cranberries performance known to this day; the very first one being the “The Town And Country Club” bootleg recorded in London on 31 August 1991.

The recording is shared as “raw files” and was not edited to improve sound at any time.
Here’s the recording process: Mastertape => JVC CA-E33L equalizer at zero => Sony PCM-D50 => WAV file 48kHz 16bit => Youtube

One may note that the band played “A Íosa” (their one and only track written in Irish) twice on this show as, during the encore, crowd asked for more shouting “arís, arís, arís” (again in Irish), Dolores thus re-entered stage saying, “Since ye said Aris we are going to play the Irish one again”.

A damn lucky crowd for sure, but thanks to Alan, today, we too can feel like we were part of the audience 🙂

Old treasures to surface thanks to 90s Limerick fan Alan Martin

February 18, 2018  |  15 Comments  |  by Webmaster  |  The Cranberries

Hey everyone,
As some of our team members were travelling to Limerick this week to pay respect at Caherelly graveyard, a month after this still terribly painful loss, we were invited by a 1990s Limerick fan to discover his very unique collection of rarely seen press clippings, videos, concert recordings and other memorabilia dating from the band’s early days.

Alan is willing to share these treasures with the worldwide community, with our help. Therefore, we took pictures of approx 300 old articles, local newspapers, reviews, flyers, posters and magazine ads of early gigs that were performed by the band as they were still called The Cranberry Saw Us or The Cranberry’s. Some of these pictures are photos that none of us have ever seen before.

A small glimpse of Alan’s collection:

We have also digitalized two recordings that he made himself from an October 3rd 1991 concert that the band played at The Parkway in Limerick as well as another one from April 15th 1993 at The 2 Mile Inn still in Limerick. Our goal is to make them available online in the upcoming days/weeks for everyone to enjoy. These bootlegs feature precious rarities such as “Iosa”, “Serious” and an alternative lyrics version of “Zombie”.

The Parkway 1991 mastertape

2 Mile Inn 1993 mastertape

As you may imagine, this is going to be a long process for us to sort and upload all this online. We’ll be starting doing so asap but please keep in mind it will likely be a matter of months before the last items can be posted on our website.

Last but not least, to our biggest honor, Alan invited us to watch the full “Uncertain” videoclip that he had recorded on VHS, as well as a rarely seen 1994 Top Of The Pops performance of “Dreams”, and a very exclusive interview of Dolores and Fergal on RTE given on December 19th 1993.
Alan will be working on digitalizing these video recordings in the upcoming weeks/months for everyone’s pleasure.

Full “Uncertain” video – 2:44

Please bear with all of us, as this is all worth the wait.

As for you, dear Alan, we’ll forever be grateful for your contacting us and sharing these special masterpieces with the fan community. You’re very special to be willing to share such a rare and personal, private collection with all of us and on behalf of the entire fan community, we wish to express our deepest appreciation for your generosity.
THANK YOU!!!

A few words from Noel, Mike & Ferg.

Somewhere in between here and heaven: CW’s Remembrance

February 12, 2018  |  15 Comments  |  by Webmaster  |  Dolores O'Riordan, The Cranberries

Dear fans,
Since January 15, we have continued to research, report, and share news and reactions as the world experiences the disbelief and grief surrounding the tragic death of the woman who meant so much to us all. As we have pursued this behind the scenes work here at Cranberries World, we have done so with broken hearts and an indescribable sorrow. It is in that same sorrow now, that we would like to take a moment to share a message from our team.

Cranberries World has become an international community of individuals who represent all ages, backgrounds, lifestyles and experiences; and our team is comprised in that same kind of diversity. Like all of us here, what we share, within our team, is our admiration, appreciation, respect and love for the music, people, memories, and gifts that came into our lives through Dolores O’ Riordan and an unmatched talent that extended beyond her remarkable voice.

The loss of Dolores has devastated our lives more than words can ever express. As each new day comes and goes, we are tormented by the reality that a day has existed without her presence in this world. Our hearts ache at the memories that come into our minds when we see or remember an old photo. Our worlds shatter as we recall experiences at concerts or conversations that some of us were fortunate enough to have shared with her over the last several decades. Then, of course, there is her music. The sharing of her creativity, talent and beautiful voice is how she introduced us into her world.

Through her art, she expressed so many aspects of life. We appreciate that creating through songwriting is often a painful process, yet she worked through any such pain so that she could not only express herself in ways that she believed in, but also in ways that she hoped that we could relate. And relate, we did, as she connected with us through her music, performances, words and personality. She wrote of emotions that ranged from the philosophical to the lighthearted, and delivered her words in beautiful melodies that she crafted with a special type of artistic talent that the world rarely sees.

We understand that the music will indeed be the legacy that she leaves behind. However, we also acknowledge that in addition to losing an incredibly gifted musician, the world has also lost a beautiful soul. We, as fans, had the benefit of experiencing, firsthand, her generosity and kindness. Fans were regularly treated to her attention, authenticity, and affectionate, loving spirit.
She worked hard to give, and made the connections with her audience through her music strong and sincere. Her success, in that regard, will continue to be a driving force in our lives. This, too, is another aspect of her legacy.

Today, as we approach a month since her passing, we remain grief-stricken and shattered.
Words may still be hard to find, and pain unlikely to ease any time soon, but our deepest thoughts continue to go out to her family, children, relatives, as well as to her band mates.
With broken hearts of our own, we extend our sympathies to everyone who visits with us and want to let you know that we are grateful for your support as we all mourn, together.

We do recognise that Dolores left us with an incredible amount of treasures. From the music to the memories, we have all been forever changed by having had Dolores in our lives.
She had given us hope, and was considered by many of us a guiding light.
While we know that everything has changed now that she is no longer with us, we will do our best in continuing the work of Cranberries World, which we hope will honor her life and career, while pursuing to support Noel, Mike, and Fergal, whom we admire and respect greatly.

We appreciate the community that drives Cranberries World and would like to thank every of you for your participation in building this “Crancyclopedia” of ours, that will keep the memories alive.
For Dolores will forever live in our hearts.

Hundreds of people arrived at Cross’s Funeral Home, Ballyneety, near the star’s Ballybricken home, to pay their respects to the Cranberries lead singer.

The three remaining members of The Cranberries – Mike and Noel Hogan, and Fergal Lawlor – joined O’Riordan’s mother, Eileen, and her five brothers and sister at the funeral home.

The singer’s partner, Ole Koretsky, who also played with O’Riordan in the alt-rock band D.A.R.K., was present.

The singer was laid out in an open coffin with rosary beads around her hands, next to photographs of her meeting the late Pope John Paul II and of her performing with her bandmates.

Family and close friends of Cranberries frontwoman Dolores O’Riordan accompanied her to her home town church in Co Limerick on Monday night ahead of her funeral.

Candles lit the streets as her coffin was brought to the Church of Saint Ailbe in Ballybricken.

Two hearses, one carrying her coffin and another carrying floral tributes, arrived at the church shortly before 9.30pm.

Among the many wreaths was one from Irish pop group The Corrs.

Earlier, hundreds of people had gathered outside Cross’s Funeral Home in Ballyneety where her remains were in repose.

Irish President Michael D Higgins paid his sympathies to the singer’s family and signed a book of condolence.

The coffin of The Cranberries singer Dolores O’Riordan is taken into Saint Ailbe’s Church, Ballybricken, ahead of her funeral on Tuesday.

After signing one of four books of condolences outside the village funeral home, President Higgins spent fifteen minutes inside privately talking to O’Riordan’s loved ones.

Afterwards, paying tribute to the adored songbird, he said: “I think it’s very important to pay tribute to the contribution Dolores made, and I also wanted to meet her mother Eileen and her fabulous huge family of nephews and nieces who were very important to her.”

“It’s so profoundly sad that someone so young is taken from us, but it’s equally important also to pay tribute to (her) work and music. It is also to the incredible credit of all those who have appreciated the music and the songs and the performances and the band, that they have come out in such numbers to make their tribute. It’s so appropriate and it is generous, and I hope that her family will get all the support hey need.”

“Limerick is very very proud of (her). As her teachers have been saying, she was a star that shun bright from the very beginning, and I wish her peace. Our sympathies go out to her mother Eileen and her family.”

Dolores O’ Riordan public reposal at Saint Joseph’s Church

January 22, 2018  |  9 Comments  |  by Webmaster  |  Dolores O'Riordan, The Cranberries

We’re lacking words to describe what we wish we had never seen.
Here’s a few articles describing the first day of mourning:

Thousands of people attended the public reposing of rockstar Dolores O’Riordan in her native Limerick on Sunday

The singer – holding a pair of pearl rosary beads – lay in an open coffin inside St Joseph’s Church in the city. […]
In a tribute normally reserved for Presidents, Popes, and heads of State, O’Riordan’s remains lay in an open coffin in a four-hour public reposing at St Joseph’s Church, in the Treaty City.

O’Riordan’s mother Eileen and her six siblings accompanied her dark wooden coffin into St Joseph’s Church, which was decorated with white roses, photographs of the deeply religious star performing on stage, and of her two separate meetings with the late Pope John Paul II at the Vatican.

Bishop of Limerick Brendan Leahy said: “It was very moving to be here, to see the generosity of Dolores’ mother Eileen and other family members, not alone in providing this opportunity ahead of the funeral for the public to pay their respects, but for being there also.”

Link: https://www.rte.ie/news/2018/0121/934847-dolores-o-riordan/

Bishop Leahy said: “In blessing the remains of Dolores O’Riordan here in St. Joseph’s Church in Limerick today, I am conscious that, while millions across the world have been shocked by the sad news of her death, today is Limerick’s public moment to bid farewell.

“We come to offer a heartfelt greeting to a deeply loved and cherished daughter of Limerick, a talented representative of the potential of Limerick people and a convinced advocate of living life in truth, love and peace.

“As we file pass her coffin, let’s remember God’s love and mercy and pray for her, her family and those she loved and helped in life.

“Dolores appreciated the value of spirituality in our lives. She made her First Communion in this church and was confirmed here. She attended the nearby An Mhodh Scoil (Model School) and Laurel Hill Coláiste FCJ school. Her spiritual journey continued in many parts of our world, and yet Dolores remained anchored in Limerick. We can be grateful to Dolores’ family for choosing this beautiful church as a venue for her lying in repose.

“Today as the Limerick people she greatly loved come to pay their respects, let us pray for Dolores: ‘May the angels lead you into paradise; and take you to the holy city, the new and eternal Jerusalem, where there will be no more tears, no more death or pain, for the time of heavenly singing has come’.”

Some of the singer’s greatest hits played out in the church while mourners, stood in silence and remembered her in their own personal way.

Others, who were inconsolable in their grief, wept and hugged one another

A floral tribute left next to the singer’s coffin, from her Cranberries bandmates – brothers Noel and Mike Hogan and Fergal Lawlor – read: “The song has ended, but the memories linger on.”

Her voice filled the building, her band’s songs softly playing in the background throughout the service, as a floral tribute beside the open coffin read: “The song has ended, but the memories linger on.” Along the walls, photos of O’Riordan were placed, including one of the singer posing with the Pope. Four books of condolence were also open for mourners to sign.

LAID out in an open casket with the motif of Our Lady at the Foot of the Cross carved into the oak at either end, a set of pearl rosary beads are threaded through the fingers of iconic rock star Dolores O’Riordan as she lies in repose at St Joseph’s Church in Limerick city this Sunday.

The body of the 46-year-old mother-of-three arrived in a hearse at the church on O’Connell Avenue at 12.10 under grey clouds.

“It’s very sad. The coffin is open – I’m not sure if people were expecting that and she looks so tiny – very peaceful, at rest,” comments Sheila Deegan, ‎Arts and Culture Officer, ‎Limerick City and County Council, on the steps of the church.

Undertakers from Cross’s Funeral Home stand vigil around red ropes which keep mourners a respectful distance from the remains of the global superstar who hailed from the small townland of Ballybricken.

Even death can’t dim the superstar quality of Dolores. A black glittery top peeps out from behind the frills of the casket’s shroud. Dark eyeshadow matches her raven hair. In front of the altar mourners bow their heads. Some say a prayer, some beat their breast, many a tear is shed.

Her coffin was carried inside accompanied by her mother and family members.

Friends and relatives carried white roses as they entered the Church.

At 1pm her mother Eileen and her six siblings left the church after spending an hour with mourners.

Mourners said silent prayers in front of the open coffin, with many shedding tears as they said their goodbyes. Others visibly broke down as the left the church.

Mourners from all over the world also gathered to pay their respects.

Post-mortem results are due for release tomorrow, Fentanyl poisoning suspected?

January 17, 2018  |  16 Comments  |  by Webmaster  |  Dolores O'Riordan

This morning, independent.ie announced that post-mortem results are due for release tomorrow.

Let’s note note that website Santa Monica Observer announced that a source in the London Police Department said Dolores O’ Riordan died of Fentanyl poisoning:

Lead Singer of the Cranberries Dolores O’Riordan died of Fentanyl poisoning Monday, said a source in the London Police Department. Authorities found counterfeit fentanyl near the 46 years old rocker’s bed. The source added that an official cause of death will probably have to wait for a toxicology report. He added that suicide and a deliberate overdose are suspected.

Several media around the world are now quoting this article as a reliable source of information, though this U.S. newspaper is known for publishing fake news, so we’d strongly advised to wait for the coroner report!

The Mirror reported that Dolores’ body was discovered in the bathroom of her suite by the cleaners. She was staying at the London Hilton on Park Lane.

Dolores O’ Riordan: ‘You have to be strong’. Interview on The Business Post Magazine

June 30, 2017  |  1 Comments  |  by Webmaster  |  The Cranberries

Journalist Nadine O’Reagan met the band back in April in a Dublin pub. The interview was then published in the Business Post Magazine issued on May 7th which featured Dolores O’Riordan on the cover (“She’s beautiful, Dolores O’Riordan. Sometimes the cameras don’t capture that. Today, as she sits in the Cobblestone pub in Smithfield in Dublin, the Limerick-born singer looks as dainty as a doll – her skin is porcelain, her close-cropped hair is a shiny black, and her military-style jacket from Marc Jacobs in Brown Thomas is on trend: tough, but also reinforcing her fragility”):

“You have to keep going,” O’Riordan nods. “You just have to be strong. And keep soldiering on. You just can’t lay down and die. There’s light at the end of the tunnel.”

Noel, Dolores, Fergal and Mike sat down to discuss various topics ranging from their early days and sudden fame to hobbies. Here are a few extracts (full interview is avaiable on the Business Post site – subscription required):

About the early days:

“For us, four kids from Limerick, who did a demo, took a chance and posted it to London – for us to get a positive letter, we were ringing each other, going: ‘Oh my God’,” says Lawlor, the gregarious drummer, as he sips a soft drink around the small table in the Cobblestone. “You have that buzz. Geoff [Travis, the founder of Rough Trade Records] was managing us a year later.”

About their relationship:

“We found that, for us, any problems have come from outside influences,” Hogan says, adding that it’s better when he and O’Riordan sit down and “thrash out” issues.

About hobbies:

O’Riordan enjoys swimming and meditating – she’s not into Spotify; she’s not much of a music listener by her own account, but she downloads meditations from iTunes. She travels with a yoga mat, she says, and she’ll meditate every day if the hotel room she’s in has space for her to lay out her mat. I ask her why she likes meditating so much, in particular.

Dolores also gave an insight on her back injury that would later prevent her from completing their summer tour:

“I love to swim (…) the breaststroke and the backstroke. Because I had a herniated disc last year. I had to cancel a couple of festivals. I’m hoping it doesn’t come back to haunt me. If I had this disc out, I’d have to be in a wheelchair, so that would be bad. I also like walking and painting”

The journalist also talks about Something Else defining it “gentle, uplifting and worth hearing”
